This is the best video Gretsch has posted, they should do more like this , how about some in depth interviews with the custom shop guys etc, there is huge potential for some very informative and interesting videos
Wow how incredible this isn't just a team its a family company showing us a glimpse of tradition. Its no wonder why so many musician love dearly this company. I would like to give out a thank you to its master builder and crew and to Fred for keeping the Gretsch tradition alive.
I've just finished watching this. I'm an owner of 5 gretsch guitars all the way from Australia and wow!!! This video was amazing just to watch them assemble and all the work that goes into it.....brilliant!!!
I have just purchased my first cretsch guitar model number G2622, red in colour with a tinge of sparkle.this is an investment,and allways wanted one,the sound that comes out of it is fantastic,better than any of my solid gutars that I have very pleased with it.kind regards,to gretsch guitars.from peter in taupo new Zealand.

Nothing higher on the guitar bucket list for me than owning a custom shop gretsch. Not taking away anything from some of the amazing guitar builders out there but these guitars just speak to me in a big bad way.

Love that guitar going in the case. Really great video. Made my mind go crazy with custom signature touches you could do along the way like the hand print of my baby girl in light stain on the back (hey it's custom, to each his own). Great guitar, awesome vid.
John Kennedy -- I think like that, too. ; ] You're taking the art even farther. Customization tells a story. Even if the story is silenced in time there will be those who appreciate that there was a tale of inspiration behind something they can hold in their hands and revere with a sense of awe and mystery.
EDIT: That's my favorite non-wood finish, too. I can't remember the name of that one, but they used their drum wrap materials for those and the sparkle headstock logo back in the day.

I don't own a Gretsch and probably never will - the only guitarist that I grew up listening too that played one was Malcolm Young but this was a great video and it's always nice to see fine instruments being made. Even though I'm more of a metal/rock guy the music that went along with this was very entertaining and impressive. Maybe I'll have to expand my horizons a little.

They're not just for Rockabilly or Country anymore Swampster70. I play exclusively rock and both of my Gretsch's are turning into my go to's because they have their own unique sound quality and tone like no other guitar! There was a reason Malcolm picked them in particular over every other brand!
I was playing Metallica on a 2420T (full hollowbody archtop). Only thing keeping you from playing metal on a Gretsch is the looks, and the Jets fit metal and rock aesthetics just fine.
I had to have so much work done to my brand new limited edition g5422tg it was embarrassing 😟 all my other gretsch guitars were pre 2002 and are still amazing!

Now it's understood why the prices are so high, after seeing this video. But I have four used Gretsches, anyway. I love the Duo the most.

This is a great video. Showing all of the work being done by skilled craftsmen is fantastic. Compared to the Gibson slavery-CNC machine promotional video, this video puts that to shame, and is what real guitarists are looking for.

Don't complain about Gretsch if you've never played or owned a high end model. Recently bought the Chet Atkins G6120bk and I will never get rid of it.
Kendall Wolf You don't need a high end model to know a Gretsch can't be beat. I have a walnut stain Streamliner and it's the best guitar I've ever played.
This is amazing, sooo handmade. Keep this great job everybody.
If more, (SOME) CNC procedures were incorporated, perhaps "nailsarecruel's" complaint above, could be somewhat alleviated???

Same here Charlie, saved up for 2.5 months and it's by far the best guitar I've ever owned out of 8 of them so far :). The tone of a Gretsch is amazing enough but the G7593T-BD WOW!

the streamliner series is amazing and cheap. g2265 $450 - best value on the market.
Plenty of cheap CAD cut blocks of wood out there. You want "quality crafysmanship", it costs money!
The Electromatic series gets you a pretty good taste of the action for not much money.

For a Custon Shop guitar, is a serious flaw!
That is because the 50's ones weren't either! I talked to Ron Thorne of Thorne guitars, who has the inlay work subcontracted to him (at least they did for a time). He said he finds it hard to do it, but that is what they request.
I have a original 58 Gretsch 6118, and don't have this flaw. So the reason for my comment.
