No, indeed, they prefer to show extravagant over-the-top outfits... That said, that's the purpose of the National Costume segment of beauty pageants; and these incredible outfits are generally very eye-catching, as long as they don't malfunction, of course 😉

hey, while some of those costumes may appear to be extra and not representing our culture. Sen Vang (company that holds the license for MGVN) literally has a whole series to select the costumes advancing, with multiple hoa hau’s, NTK, designers judging and adding feedback. It’s national costume of course they must catch attention. Also a lot of the designs are by young vietnamese designers and university students. They may not be conventional but they represent aspects, themes, and stories of Vietnam. Don’t worry, it’s vietnamese people after all that are producing these designs!
You don't always get lucky, so mistakes like that are normal. As for the admin, it's better to convey beautiful things to viewers than this unsightly backstage
Of course you don't always get lucky... I never told these costume malfunctions weren't normal. But I think it's also normal to show these bloopers - it raises awareness of the difficulties of creating such artworks! And most of the footages featured in this video (all but n°2) are not backstages, but from the shows themselves.
hi everyone, just wanted to clarify some things. - Most of these clips are of rehearsals so designers and contestants know how to fix the design and performance for the actual natcos night. -secondly, the third clip was literally of another country’s national costume at Miss Universe 2023, not Vietnam’s. -finally, please remember to stay respectful of Vietnamese culture. A lot of these costumes are from Miss Grand Vietnam, where a lot of the costumes are designed by vietnamese university students and go through a selection process by judges in order to best promote and display vietnamese culture. 🇻🇳
Hi! Thank you for your detailed and much appreciated comment. - As for the 3rd clip, yes, I apologize. After having uploaded the video I realized it wasn't from Vietnam. - I know the 2nd clip is from rehearsals; but the 1st, 4th and 5th clips are from the actual pageants: all three are featured in the official videos of the National Costume competitions. Chu Lê Vi Anh's fall (1st clip) is at 1'30'30 in the following official video of Miss Grand Vietnam 2022: th-cam.com/video/dGYk4L0BDAY/w-d-xo.html The 5th clip (Bảo Ngọc's broken angel wings) is from 42 minute on in the same video. And the 4th clip (Miss Tò Tét's costume) is from 1'20'25 in the official video of Miss Grand Vietnam 2023: th-cam.com/video/yQE4ZXXjQzU/w-d-xo.html - So, to be precise, only one clip is of rehearsals and most of them are of the actual pageants. That said, I'm very respectful of these costumes and of Vietnamese culture. I commend the university students who designed them since I find them complex, imaginative and wonderful to look at, despite occasional malfunctions. Best regards, Annabella

The costumes are incredibly beautiful. I love them all even if they malfunctioned.
They don't like to show normal or wearable outfits on stage 😢😭

I am Vietnamese myself. Most of these costumes are not representing culture. They design to get attention and that is all.
