    I bought a plant through an Indonesian friend some time ago. I didn't know he got it from this show 😂. It's the exact same Burle Marx Mint at Titikhijau. It's now growing in my care.

    Sean, OMG. Once again a visually spectacular video. I can’t believe your channel doesn’t have more subscribers. Indonesia is so beautiful and the people are so lovely.
    I think Kaylee Ellen is overrated. She is a plant broker, not a grower or collector. She drums up the hype but it’s not backed up with any substance. Most people want houseplants but many of her plants are more hot house plants and not indoor plants, like the ‘esqueleto’ Anthuriums etc.
    Due to Covid people spent more time at home, they needed hobbies and many things like houseplants became popular again and thanks to show people like Kaylee, prices went up. She is going to be a victim of her own marketing. Because of the prices she charged places like Thailand and Indonesia put their prices up. I think the time to invest was about three years ago. People new to houseplants aren’t prepared for the mould and mildew problems from having too many plants indoors for too long. Plus mothers with children and people with pets quite often don’t want poisonous plants in their homes. It’s a fad that has reached its peak. Due to Covid, the war in the Ukraine etc. there is a global recession coming. Even though LEDs are efficient, they still cost power to run. Power is going up, interest rates, fertilisers etc. the cost of living around the world is becoming more expensive and people will be focused on necessities, not houseplants. Most rare species with the exception of a few variegated cultivars can be easily cloned and mass produced. Hybrids, unlike species are less collectable and don’t hold their prices as well. (I’ve noticed this with orchids and Hoyas since the 70s. )
    Hybrids that haven’t had their parentage carefully documented, particularly are less valuable, just in the case of orchids. The most beautiful Hoya collection I’ve ever seen was on the episode of Summer Rayne Oakes in Sweden. The lady only had species and no variegated cultivars. This is the collection of a true collector.
    I doubt Kaylee will still be relevant, she has to pay rent, power on her fans and lights, fertiliser and her suppliers have put their prices up. Just google rare plants UK and the other shops have the same plants much cheaper than her. She is quick to tell people they are just jealous of her but in fact they should feel sorry for her. My bet is she will be out of business in at least 2 years. The only reason why Indonesia has such high prices my guess is because they can export them to Europe and America and people will pay the prices. This is soon going to end. Wages aren’t going up and people can’t pay their rents or groceries bills. Very few people will be able to afford these stupid prices. On another note I’m pretty sure Philodendrons are climbers not vines or bines. Vines botanically must have tendrils. ( like grapes ). And many people confuse fenestrations with pinnations. Once again I love your channel and I think it’s very underestimated. I would have visited Indonesia before now if it was more LGBT friendly but I have hope it will be in the future.

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank youu. I have the same concerns about the market economies today too, one example is the crash of crypto currencies. Non tangible assets like houseplants are falling in price now. Unfortunately Indonesia is not going to be LGBT friendly in our lifetime.. the conservative movement here is increasing.

      @@onlyplants to survive in this industry we have to think outside the box. I’ve got many ideas. I think it’s morally wrong that they are keeping Phil. spiritus sancti rare, give me a flow cabinet and a new node and in a week I’d have over 1000 plants. Spider mites are viral vectors and they are everywhere, on the grass even. They can travel on your clothes. Some orchids exist with viruses because ever one left is infected. It could happen to the Phil. ss too. Besides Dr Croat said Aroids species of Phil. And Anthuriums are being lost every day to land clearing. Tell this to Kaylee Ellen and everyone of your accounts will be hacked.(cracked). She isn’t a nice person. Hence you see my troll name.
      I think the rare Aroids, orchids and Hoyas will always be collectable. The new market plan should be mass production at cheaper prices. The Australian market stays strong because of the strict quarantine laws but people smuggle in Small pieces with active nodes. Also the Chinese market I believe will stay strong, Hong Kong and Singapore too. There is a global recession coming, some say the worst in over 200 years.
      I highly recommend Sorelle Amore finance on TH-cam.

    Amazing plants and interesting to see the some of the new plants. Interesting that many of them are more expensive than in the US, when our market seems pretty expensive compared to some others. But some of those new variegated plants would definitely fetch similar numbers, probably, which is way out of my price range!

    Hello, do you know if in Indonesia sale the philodendon seeds?

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are rarely sold as seeds as it is very difficult to pollenate philodendrons. But anthuriums perhaps yes

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats because all the sellers are in one place now haha. But also its considered rare in many parts of the world.

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      😅 because of limited supply here. We cannot import plants (mother plants) as easily as Thailand does. But some plants like anthuriums are cheaper in Indonesia.
