  • #aurovilleindia #auroville #aurovillediaries #aurovillelife #aurovillecommunity #aurovillepondicherry #aurovillelibrary #pondicherry We stayed inside Auroville for 8 days to know its Life, Landscape & Lifestyle. We explored various Residential complexes inside Auroville to see the design, architecture, and the way Auroviliens live.
Auroville is an experimental township located in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India. It was founded in 1968 by Mirra Alfassa, also known as "The Mother," who was a spiritual collaborator of Sri Aurobindo. The main vision behind Auroville is to create a universal town where people from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds can live together in peace and harmony. It aims to be a place where humanity can progress toward its higher potential and explore the possibilities of human unity.
Auroville is organized as an international community and governed by the Auroville Foundation, under the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India. It is recognized as an "International Township" and has its own constitution, aiming to ensure that all residents have equal rights and opportunities. The architecture of Auroville reflects its ideals of sustainability and harmony with nature. The township is known for its unique and innovative buildings, combining traditional and modern techniques. Matrimandir, a prominent landmark of Auroville, is a golden spherical structure that serves as a meditation centre and focal point for the community.
Residents of Auroville, known as Aurovilians, come from various countries and engage in a wide range of activities, including agriculture, education, art, handicrafts, and renewable energy initiatives. The community emphasizes self-sufficiency and sustainable living practices. Auroville is open to visitors, who can explore the township, participate in workshops and events, and experience the community's way of life. The town attracts people seeking a spiritual or alternative lifestyle and has become a popular destination for those interested in meditation, yoga, and holistic practices.

Wish this place is declared as a heritage one and people do not go there just as a picnic spot and destroy and disturb the peace and tranquility and nature of that place. In Auroville's embrace, where spirits soar,
A dance with nature, we long for more.
From humble earth, to golden sphere,
Unity blooms, both far and near.
In the stillness of trees and the whispering breeze,
Find your peace, as the heart sees.

Prices of rooms in the Auroville fluctuate from season to season. Like right now its high season and the rates will be at its peak. The rates go down during the monsoons. Some are available with kitchenette. But if you are going as tourists its better to eat outside. Incase you are wanting to stay for long duration its better to look for hostels ,especially for women.

I don't know the experience if you're living there for some days, but if it's a one fay trip, it's an absolute waste of time. They just show you the matrimandir from a distance after making you walk for 30 mins. Also, for a community that believes in cashlessness, there's all kind of money making mechanisms in the area. Not worth for one day trip. Probably not worth living too, because you need to give up all your personal property.
