Okocha is quite a unique player. He doesn't really move as fast, but has so much guile and a natural understanding of the ball. That's why it looks easy. The Ronaldos and Messis look like they are actually working. Lol. Players like Zidane and Okocha and Ronaldinho, plays every game on their own terms. This set of Eagles had them o! Finidi George is similar in this respect. He doesn't struggle with the ball.

I think this match should be dedicated to Garba Lawal, this is the most underrated player in super eagles history cos he doesn’t play with flare or skills like a typical Nigerian footballer, but he was the most hardworking player we’ve ever had and he always had 90 mins play time throughout his career with super eagles despite our always star studded team, I remember this match vividly, he was a torn in the flesh of Ghana team and he terrorized them throughout the match though the man of the match was given to the Ghanaian keeper for heroic saves.

This went on to pick the bronze medal in that AFCON (Mali 2002). The team lost to Senegal in semi final in a match that went to extra time. Shuaibu Amodu was subsequently relieved of his job and the team was disbanded because people thought they were not good enough for the 2002 WC. We gambled with a good WC because of lack of patience.

Ghana is better than Nigeria by miles. This tournament was full of indiscipline in our camp and there wasn't good atmosphere among the players.
Ghana has beaten Nigeria 21 times and Nigeria has won 10 times. Remember we have given you the defeat of 7-0 in a friendly game in 1955. It was just this game you had everything right.

You must be dreaming, how do you want to cope with a forward line of kanu, Okocha, aghahowa, finidi and garba lawal, mind you
Yakubu Aiyegbeni who was the 2nd highest goal scorer in English premiership was on bench because aghahowa who was the highest goal scorer in Ukrainian league benched him. this was just to much for you guys

Even if you were at your best you wouldn’t cope with the firepower of that Nigerian team, Garuba lawal was the chief tormentor on that day, and Kanu played like it was his last match, please forget Okocha we all know he is an entertainer, we have lots of better player than Okocha, for me I prefer Garuba Lawal to Okocha cos he always played like a beast, at the moment we even have better players than those old days though they are still young and coming up, don’t worry one day we’ll meet again

    A bit of context...
Kanu did the sign of the cross at the 6:24 mark because minutes before that goal, he had made an atrocious miss in front of an almost open net, so Lawal's goal was an out of jail card for him.
Also, the hero of the game, Lawal, went zero in the semis when he lost the ball that led to the winning goal in the semis for CIV and Nigeria got knocked out
