If anyone reading this hasn’t seen “The Persuaders,” I can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s fantastic, and this new set looks absolutely amazing. Great video!
The Persuaders is terrific. I hope they do the Saint as well! 👍
I just preordered Night of the Scarecrow because I saw your name as a commentator! And I also love the first movie. Saw it with my grandparents when it was played on the movie of the week.
Thank you! Amanda, Rob and I had a fun time with the Dark Night of the Scarecrow commentary. I hope you enjoy it.
Heat, great reviews! Maybe can you do one episode just dedicated to THE PERSUADERS? Thanks for your dedication.
I appreciate your expertise and enthusiasm you share with us over these DVDs!
This was a joy to wake up to this morning. I love the Persuaders! And I have that eight episode per dvd set as well, but still watch it from time to time. Definitely worth upgrading to blu-ray once I save up a bit more cashola! The Avengers set also looks amazing and I'll have to complete my collection and purchase this one as well. The movies were also a unique collection. Very exciting and energetic show today! I'm even more excited to order my copies and actually have an episode of Persuaders on as I write this before I head off to work. Definitely have to watch a few more when I return home tonight. Love your show and enthusiasm. Great job on this Outstanding unboxing video! Definitely ordering the cereals box set too. That looks amazing! Thank you again for pumping up my adrenaline and providing all the needed information with so much playful excitement! Enjoy the weekend!
✌️♥️😀
Great video, I have never heard of the Persuaders, looks like a very entertaining show, thanks for the recommendation and keep up the great work.
Solid work once again! Thanks, Heath! I really appreciate it! God bless and stay safe!
Thanks for the info 👍
Roger Moore as The Saint in the tv series was superb. I love The Persuaders. The theme is haunting. Other great British tv series I love are Department S, Callan, Minder, Danger Man, Van Den Hull? and The Professionals PS : And The Avengers with Patrick Mc Nee, Honor Blacklan and Diana Rigg.
Thanks for the run down! Oh man, I’m tempted by the Persuaders! I’ve seen the A&E DVDs via a local library, and they’re only passable, but I love the show! I had no idea about the early Avengers set, since it’s on DVD and none of my usual BluRay info sites covered it. Apparently these are exactly the Studio Canal Optimum discs, with a ViaVision logo. They are not subtitled (the website specs were wrong), and are PAL format, even though these are region free (Optimum was region 2). If one is ok with streaming (and no extras), there are cheap streaming packages (in the US at least) for Series 2 & 3 through Apple ($10 ea). These were actually on Prime a few months ago, but no longer. In any case, the usual US disc importers don’t seem to be carrying the set. Thanks for your amazing wall to wall coverage!
Great news about your commentary on King of the Rocket Men! I pre-ordered that set a few weeks ago and I was hoping you'd be a commentator as this is one of your specialties.
Thank you! It's nice to be seen for efforts as a film historian in addition to a film collector, so I appreciate the kind words.
Coming soon from Imprint: "Randall And Hopkirk [Deceased]" - If you haven't seen it, watch the first episode (of twenty six) and you'll be hooked. The Australian Nick At Nite used to play all the old British "fun" action shows back in 1999/2000 and I watched then taped them all. I've had DVD's of them for years and I think I'm about to send myself broke!
Sir Lew Grade was also the money behind the original THE MUPPET SHOW.
John Barry is one of those guys who doesn't get the credit he deserves. I know that people would argue with me about this, but one of my favorite SciFi scores is his score to THE BLACK HOLE.
Question about the AVENGERS - EMMA PEEL set: Does it include Ms. Rigg's final episode, "The Forget-Me-Not"? I understand that said episode aired as the first episode of the season/series introducing Linda Thorson.
Finally, I need to check out the theme music for THE PERSUADERS. Must note that, when I first watched SHERLOCK, the theme music that it reminded me of was POLICE WOMAN.
Egads, The Persuaders set looks yummy.
Importing movies is not just over seas either, know several collectors in Canada who are always saying how expensive a lot of these boutique label releases are up there.
Yes, importing is expensive for everyone. I'm not a fan of the victimization I see from people who think every release should be dirt cheap, no matter how far it has to travel.
@CerealAtMidnight unless your made of money nobody can catch all of these releases anyways, I'm on a very tight budget with home renovations so unfortunately my spending habits basically consist of a few Kino sales a year, and many people can't even afford that, so to hear collectors complain they can only get 20 releases a month and cang afford a SF boxed set or VS, or whatever, I think be grateful for what you can get. Obviously it would be nice if we could all get everything but be grateful for so many choices to begin with
Well said.
First series was basically shown live not recorded until half way through
Cool releases for The Avengers completist need release of The New Avengers
Imprint & Umbrella are just killing it lately & my wallet. I’m getting ready to place another large order for their October releases. That Polanski set looks killer.
I have to pick and choose my Imprint purchases due to expense and shelf space, and those Lew Grade ITC shows have me conflicted. They always seem to moss out a few bonus features from the old Network blurays, but also add more than a few new features. I got the Prisoner set as I adore that show and the new features were worth it. Also got the colour Avengers sets as I had started buying the UK DVDs of the first couple of seasons just before Imprint came along. Season 3 is the only one i don't have so might just get the UK ones and stick with Imprint blurays for the colour years. Randall and Hopkirk will be a clear upgrade as the Network bluray had NO extras whatsoever and dropped all the previous DVD extras, so can't wait for that one. I dunno about The Persuaders though...the Network version is pretty thorough and although the Imprint one adds more features than it drops, some of the stuff it drops it a Moore & Curtis reunion. I think for me personally its maybe not worth rebuying it.
Already preordered the Tales of Adventures Vol. 4. So many great serials!
Not saying this is right (it’s probably wrong), but the OCD in me would not let me put the DVD set next to the BD ones. DVDs aren’t even in the same room as my DVDs.
SMOKE is an underrated masterpiece. I wish they still made films like SMOKE. Understated, nuanced, and filled with amazing performances.
Is the Full Keitel the same as the Full Monty?
You had me at Nic Cage!
Any Imprint discount like Umbrella, pretty please? 😬
Got the ultimate Madman collection on dvd more extras on the Honor black man series more extras than the new set
Bad transmissions times on UK tv didn’t help
"Loud, angry Americans"...thanks, buddy.
In case you think I was suggesting all Americans are loud and angry, I wasn't. However, the people I was referencing as being the biggest complainers about import prices are almost always loud, angry, and American.
