Yes inspired and you were helpful. Just learning on my own a few weeks ago and a day will go by fast and ya get burnt out . Needed a 15 min break. All in All Thanks..
Really helpful video, thanks. I was a little hesitant because I'm not really into worship music. But you're playing is awesome and the video was thoughtlfully laid out.
For someone new to this channel, I'd simply like to know what Keyboard Make/Model you're using for substituting the Bass? Many lower end keyboards (like my $450 Yamaha) don't have really an acceptable "Bass Sound". Nice tutorial, well presented.
Just out of curiosity, wouldn't that Korg keyboard have bass voices (bass guit., Upright bass) that you could split thru 2 amps (bass thru one amp, piano/organ thru the 2nd)?
Man, that is awesome at 08:29, what kind of patch is this?? I dont find it in my Korg M50.. thanks a bunch if you can let me know how to create a patch like yours...
Hi Peter. That bass you played sounded Awesome! I got a Roland E09 and i wanna purchase another keyboard for bass thats not too expensive. Any recommendations ?
Can you make a video on how to get these sound? I can't find any resources out there about this... Like can I get a nice bass sound like this from a Roland Gaia SH01?
I notice you didn't get a reply on this so thought I'd throw in my thoughts. It depends on your amplification system. I just run my bass into the house system which has plenty of capacity to do all instruments. I use an IEM (In-ear monitor) system to allow me to adjust my own mix. But if you're into your own personal amplification, each instrument has its own requirements. Try playing your bass through your keyboard's amp (or vice versa), if you don't like the sound so much (likely), get something that better suits your needs or go with separate amps.
That was an excellent lesson and exactly what I needed to see. I find that my limiting factor is my setup. I have an old Casio Privia PX-400R that has seen better days... Perchance, could you recommend a good board for a novice like me to step up to? I (like many) do not have the money to drop on a high-level board, but wish to expand my (our) skills to the next level. What are your thoughts on the matter? Any input would be welcome and appreciated! Thank you for your knowledge and skill, and keep on jamming!
I currently use keyboards with good basic sounds, supplementing with computer synths. I could offer some suggestions based on what you would want it to do and your budget if you let me know.
@@OurWorshipSoundIf you're only playing bass, I suggest getting a Keytar and learn to play bass right handed. If you have small fingers, the Korg RK-100S 2 ($700) is nice and compact but the bass sounds are somewhat wanting. Consider pairing it with Korg Module (iPad software with excellent bass sounds) available for little $$$. But if your fingers are a little larger, go for the Roland AX-Edge. In addition to full size keys, it (unfortunately) adds an octave so this is a big puppy and expensive. But the sounds in it are much better and you can import additional sounds from Roland Cloud for little $$$. You won't need an external sound module likely. Don't forget to get the Lekato wireless guitar system (which works in a Keyboard as well) so you'll be completely cordless. The set up works great and the Keytar definitely get's attention - even the black one with all black keys.
Bro, that is a great video about bass tips! I'm from Venezuela and I would like to do some videos like you, for musicians resources on latin churches in spanish! any tutorial about making tutorial videos? Thanks for your time! nice tutorials!
Hi! Thanks for sharing your tips. I'm mainly play bass on keyboard in my band and i wnat to ask you can you give me examples of bands who are using bass keyboard aswel. I have been searching for some time but didnt found something clear. Just want to compare techiques and sounds :) Thanks :)
Hi, thanks for watching. I have three free videos I can send you about chords, rhythm and playing melodically if you go to ourworshipsound.com/keyboard and sign up
Hi Peter. Thanks for this awesome tutorial. BTW what piano are you using?? I guess it's Yamaha S80. But please let me know the voice name you are using in that? Thank You
S80 yes. Piano sound is from the yamaha plg ap150 expansion card. Bass sounds from the Roland xp80 bass expansion card, and the other keyboard sounds from mainstage
Hi Peter, how did you set the dynamics of the keyboard to play the bass as we want it to be...? i was fascinated when i heard you play a note which triggered a bass note from low to high just like the original bass player and also noticed when you hit the key harder it sounds like a real slap bass... did you created this bass patch on your own?? if yes, could you please make a video or send me an email on how to do it on any keyboard? Thanks in advance!! Greetings from India.
Hi Sam, the patch I was using is a preset on a Roland bass expansion card. They sampled bassists like Marcus Miller and John Patitucci. I'm not sure how to go about expanding your Korg M50. Good luck!
Hi Peter, thanks for the quick response. Hopefully, i can get some expansion card for my Korg M50 as well, we dont have a bass player in our church, your vid was so impressive that i am planning to get similar kind of stuff for my keys... any help in this would be very great!! Thanks!!
Not a stupid question at all. I used to go through our bass rig with amp when our bass player was gone, but now I just go direct from my audio interface to the main mixer (I hear it in my in-ear mix).
+Luv Gospel When i perform I run it through an amp, because it's there and it's already hooked up through the system that way. I haven't played that particular keyboard, but I am a big fan of Yamaha instruments.
You'd be surprised how many videos TH-cam has showing how to play bass on various worship songs. Probably not all but... Do a search on the song name plus "bass cover". Example: "Great Things bass cover" or "Everlasting God bass cover". They're going to be played on a string bass but will give you ideas on the bass line that you can start with.
It's a sample - you need to find a sound set or keyboard that includes it. It's not really something you can synthesize (if you want it to sound like a bass guitar, that is).
Hi, thanks for sharing you knowledge with the publick , i got a question im a intermediate to advance keyboard player too but im really stuck in getting to understand how advance harmony is applied (13th chords ,11th chords etc) if you know about this can you tell me a tip or something because ,I got a great book of PIano Chords(It has all kind of Chords) but dont even know how to use them. Thanks,Hope you can give an advice.Blessings!
OurWorshipSound thanks that video help me alot but i got another Question do u think that using the Real Book of jazz would i learn to play and understand this kind of armony too ? . I just got a book for music harmony but dont know which one start,What do you think?.God bless you and hope u answer me lol
this is so amaziing! :)) oh and i got a question. how will I play key-bass if i only have 1 keyboard ?? coz i only have 1 keyboard and it only has 36 keys on it :(
You can do it, just can't really do anything else. :-] With most keyboards, you can set up a split with bass on the low keys and something else on the upper keys. 36 keys is a little short to do that, though
Hey, thx for the tips, quick question, anybody that can help plz answer. I am in band, and we don't have a bass player, but I'm the keyboard player. I am looking to play some Beatles songs. What notes do play?
Hi Alex, that video had a Roland XP80 on top, with a bass expansion card (it's probably 25 yr old tech by now :-) Bottom keyboard is a Yamaha S80 connected to Mainstage software. Thanks!
Great Video!!!!! Super precise, well thought out, and insightful!!!!
Thank You !!! Some Sunday's our bass player would miss our service .

Great lesson. Thank you.
I loved the bass sound on the keyboard
Thanks, me too. I've tried to find other substitutes, but only thing that I've found that would work is the Trilian bass plugin, which is $280 :-(

It's an old Roland XP-80 with a bass expansion card. Yeah it can be tough to find something really good for bass.
Super helpful, thanks!

Thanks Peter Great Vid Praizem!
Question. Should you run your key bass and keyboard through different amps?
I notice you didn't get a reply on this so thought I'd throw in my thoughts. It depends on your amplification system. For bass, an old (like really old) Roland XP80 with a bass expansion card

Yes ! Neal is a beast!
What keyboard model are you playing on? The bass sounds pretty close to the real thing.
Can you tell me, can we play a bass move on keyboard ?
Bass move?
So do we have to play chord notes only for the bass part FUNK?
How would you play fast single tremolo? Say if you were doing heavy metal.
Nice one
Hi Peter. Thanks for this awesome tutorial.
BTW what piano are you using?? I guess it's Yamaha S80.
But please let me know the voice name you are using in that?

S80 yes. Piano sound is from the yamaha plg ap150 expansion card. Bass sounds from the Roland xp80 bass expansion card, and the other keyboard sounds from mainstage

@alok kumar Gupta apparently there is a guy I saw do the sliding technique. At 1:10 of this video: th-cam.com/video/_YWGRiM03nA/w-d-xo.html
Can you do those slapping, muted and sliding notes on all keyboards?
Thanks!
no, it depends on the particular sound and how it was sampled
But is there any of those sounds, that you can get from any Keyboard?
What mode were you on to play the bass on the keyboard?
on the top keyboard? just a single voice mode
