There's no other band that has sooo many hits that the world knows. The entire world, every country knows many of their songs, and no other band can claim that fact. Also, queen is tge only band that every member is individually inducted into the song writers hall of fame, because each of the 4 members wrote number 1 songs. Every one has written at least 1 number one song for queen.
No other band has each member writing a number 1 song. Not even each member of the beatles has writen number 1 songs, individually.
I'll repeat....no ther band can say each member wrote #1 songs....ONLY QUEEN CAN CLAIM THAT FACT!!!

Sadly yes. Already quite ill in 1989. Voice still strong though.
He did still have a couple of years left at this point. The band thought this would be the last work (hence the track on the album "Was it all worth it". But he managed to get another album produced in the form of Innuendo and recorded material for Made in Heaven before we lost him.

Yep, it is Queen. Brian wrote this song and Freddie smashes it. Freddie had a beard to cover up the marks on his face from the Kaposi Sarcoma lesions he had on his face from AIDS. His face is also fuller because the medications he was taking cause that.

Everyone has their own opinion, but for me, Queen and Freddie are the best band and frontman to live.. As for Brian, May he is one of the most underrated guitarists of all time. His solos are astounding. John Deacon on Bass and Roger on Drums. Best Band ever. I was there I know all their songs.

There's so many more great Queen songs for you to search out. Maybe not so well known, but great songs. For example: you may have watched the 1986 movie Highlander for which Queen did the soundtrack.
Yes, 'deep cuts', album tracks that weren't released as singles and we're therefore never hits.
This was one of the later songs and reason for the shaving off of the moustache and the slight beard was to hide scars on his face from side effects from his HIV/AIDS. If you notice he had lost a lot of weight and stopped touring at this point. The song was written by Brian May from an idea that it was a catchphrase his wife (actress Anita Dobson) always used to say, that she wanted it all and she's wanted it now. In the later years Freddie more or less tried to prepare the rest of Queen by trying to get more involved, possibly because he wasn't able to do as much as well.

At this point Freddie was in an advanced stage of Aids he was too weak to hold the microphone any more. The beard indicates the advancement of Aids he grew it because it covered the multiple tumours on the face,so when you see the beard it = very sick,he could hardly stand and the pain was horrible.

Tightest band you'll ever hear. Unbelievable harmonies. Best frontman you'll ever see. Their performances were amazing, with the truely legendary and astounding Freddie at the core. He had his audiences in the palm of his hand. There was something very very special about Freddie...other worldly. He draws you in with his undeniable charisma, power, passion and that amazing 4 octave vocal range. He adored his fans and we adore him. How these 4 guys got drawn togethet seems like more than coincidence. It's as if Destiny and the universe saw to it that we were blessed with their music. Do some research on Queen and each of the band members. Watch the videos. Listen. The Queen rabbit hole awaits you. You will have a wondrous, joyous journey. Enjoy!!
Yes the beard was used to coverup his karposi tumors from AIDS. You can see he has multilayer of clothes because he had gotten so thin. So thin but still giving it more than ever.
Alot of americans dont realise that alot of your favourite Rock Anthems that maybe play at a baseball game or basketball game is very often a track by Queen. simply because their music has a certain vibe and gets everybodys head rolling and foot stamping.

Queen are certainly one of the biggest bands of all time, in terms of global reach, influence, sales/downloads, and hits. They've also been my joint top band (with Pink Floyd) since 1974-75. But I'm not going to let that lifetime of fandom bias me here!
In my view....
Greatest band of all time is without doubt, The Beatles. No-one else can touch them.
Greatest rock and roll band of all time is The Rolling Stones.
Then it comes down to the greatest rock band. I would make that a three way tie, or discussion, between The Who, Led Zeppelin, and Queen.
It's hard to do direct comparisons, because they each formed in different phases of music history. The Who are a generation 1 band, LZ gen 2, Queen gen 3 ('generation' in terms of the rapid expansion of rock music in the 1960s-70s, with early 60s bands, late 60s bands, early 70s bands). Gen 1 influenced gen 2, gen 2 influenced gen 3, and so on.
In the case of Queen, they were influenced by both The Beatles and Led Zeppelin (and by Jimi Hendrix) in terms of their rock sound (also influenced by Aretha Franklin, Chic, and Michael Jackson for some of their more soul and pop sounds....and btw, Michael Jackson also took some influences from Queen!)
Sorry to my American friends I don't nominate any US bands in the five named above - I love a lot of US rock music (The Doors another of my top bands). Imo I just don't see any band passing the five I've listed, again in terms of global reach and influence. I guess the only US band that comes close is the Eagles, truly a great band.
Queen do not sing covers everything is written by the band members and Freddie, all the members of Queen have written NO1 hits,I Want It All is an original song, do your research before making unnecessary comments!
When Queen first started out, they did cover songs at their concerts. Mostly they were songs from the 50’s and 60’s.

Brian wrote it during his divorce and romance with his now wife, Anita. Her go to saying was I WANT IT ALL!
It always makes me slightly sad to see Freddie in his "scruff beard" phase, because we all know that means he's on the downward slope, though you would never know from the power of his voice. Also, you will notice his face is slightly puffier than usual, due to the medication he was taking. Nevertheless, nothing can detract from his glory. We loved Freddie to the end and beyond. Forever.

Queen did not cover the Great Pretender it was a solo by Freddie. Roger was doing back ups with Peter Straker.
