People will say social proof doesn’t matter in today’s industry but psychology never lies; people always gravitate toward what other people pre approve of 💯💯💯
Totally agree. I always tell people this too- when I stumble upon an artist on Spotify who I haven’t heard and they have a decent amount of monthly listeners/streams, I tend to listen to their music with a more open mind and assume before I’ve even listened that it’s probably at least decent. When they have very few monthly listeners I’m automatically not expecting something that good. It’s not right but it’s common. This is also one of the few reasons why good press/blog posts still matter these days since people don’t really discover music through blogs anymore. You put it on your socials and people are more open minded about you
@@vanessajane88 yup. Social proof in every way possible will always trump everything. My philosophy is chase the numbers and figure out the quality afterwards lol
We once spent ~20€ on a video, and as described by others, the retention somewhat suffered. But it brought the video in front of a pair of eyes who asked for a collab, which by itself was worth the money. Could be luck, or the targeting works well with these ads.
Hey Andrew, thank for your video. I followed your advice, it worked well till the status "Limited by budget" came in. How can I do to make it going back to normal? On other tutorials, they say it is just reducing how often my ad will run (but it will keep going). What can I do optimise my ad and remove the "Limited by budget status" within the fluffy feature you describe in this vide?
These are a Spotify playlist that used to be called 'Your Daily Mix' and there were multiple depending on what genres you listened to. Now they're just called Mixes, but are mostly the same thing.
Thanks for the advice, nice one. How does it affect the algorithm though? For example if a lot of people actually watch the whole video, will it get pushed out to others? Thanks again :)
Run google (not TH-cam) ads to your TH-cam video, the traffic will register as external instead of TH-cam advertising and that can trigger the algorithm getting you browse and suggested views.
Are you doing this from the google ads site? The interface looks different than what shows up in youtube studio. Just wondering if one is better than the other. thanks
@ honestly just TH-cam views, I don’t see too much people going over to the other platforms to stream. But if you do a campaign for views you’ll get around 4,000 for about $20 typically and if you run one for engagement I usually see about an extra 50 subscribers for $20 but results may vary if the song or video is really good.
@@ajdrybread good to know! And what about people leaving comments on your TH-cam from running the ad? Obviously that probably depends on the song too 😆
Access to my courses is through my online community, community.generastudios.com. I do one-time purchases with free updates, people that bought my first course back in 2020 have received every update entirely for free since then.
I am trying to promote a song (Bollywood style) targeting a legendary singer (Mohd Rafi). I am looking for quality views. The audience is from India. Is there a video that helps me in such a goal? Thank you.
Weird - followed instructions to a tee (including all countries & territories) yet the vast majority of my ad is coming from India. Is that mainly bc of the low budget or something else?
I did the google ads for subs. Got up to 10k subs. Videos wont go past 1500 views now. I created a new channel uploaded 2 videos one got 30k views one got 3500 views in 2 weeks with 60 subs 🤦♂️ used the same tags
I wouldn't go this hard with these campaigns for fluff numbers, or for subscribers. Going harder in Tier 1 markets for YT views with tighter targeting is cool, but these other ones don't have the quality where i'd feel confident making someone's entire audience from them.
@@AndrewSouthworth i did both just to try it out. i ran 1 add for 2 weeks for usa, germany etc. The other i did turkey, saudui arabia etc. It was just a test. I dont learn by listening. I have to keep doing it bunch of times to it becomes a habit so i just tried it out.
@@AndrewSouthworth thanks 🙏 so as long as it’s targeted and tier 1 markets, it shouldn’t affect your overall channel health? Btw been following you for a minute, thanks for all the advice it’s helped a ton 🔥
Unfortunately no. When you run TH-cam ads on a video the views you get from the ad don't generate any revenue, because they aren't putting ads in front of your ad (you ARE the ad). If people who see your ad watch other videos, those views will generate revenue though if you're monetized on TH-cam.
Yes, for being the song writer. Every view even ad views are considered public performances and TH-cam (google) has to pay a licensing fee. This only applies to views from the USA though.
It's very likely that something in your video or video title / thumbnail goes against TH-cam's policies for ads. Specifically, when it comes to misleading content. You can appeal it and maybe they'll let it through, but they might not.
One thing that you didn't mention: TH-cam will still be here in 10 years time. Also, why only 10% of your budget if all you want is for people to know that you exist. Google Ads are a cost-effective way of getting noticed. Finally, there are many people who prefer to listen to music on TH-cam because of the videos and Comments section.
Overall I’ve found Meta ads to be a much better long term investment when it comes to gaining long term fans that stick around and engage for years. It may be cheaper than Meta but very little happens after the campaign is over in comparison to Meta ads. This is why i do 90% Meta ads. They’re still worth running, just not something I’d put all my budget into!
@i think you’ll find the new subscriber campaigns work similarly to meta ads if done properly. I get significant amounts of streams after the campaign has stopped. Returning viewers number shoots way up after you stop funding the campaign. I know you said you were looking into this more but I can say it’s really good, Like thousands of streams a day good.
I care about those countries. I just cant convert my views into spotify follows. 7000+ followers. 150k views since july. I cant even test listens to my spotify. Great engagement on TH-cam and TikTok for my follower count and shitty planning lol
Not true. Having real people is always better than fake people, plus it doesn’t jeopardize your account. Just for reference there are 1.4 billion real people that live in India alone. There are artists that live in these countries and are running ads to them on purpose because it just makes sense for them. They may be much less valuable if you're a US based artist, but its still miles better than bots.
@@AndrewSouthworth if you make music of a certain language & culture, targeting countries that speak that language makes sense.
