    I literally pulled a piece of fabric out of the trash for the lining. This is the perfect wallet to use up scraps. A fun sew!

    This little wallet goes together fast and takes a very small amount of fabric or leather. Love this pattern.

    Just purchased your pattern and watched your tutorial. I want to use cotton quilting fabric for my cards slots instead of ribbon. Should i do anything to the edges of the fabric before attaching?

    • @LindsHandmadeDesigns
      @LindsHandmadeDesigns  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nope! You’re good to go. The edges will be enclosed in between the exterior and liner in the end so there’s no worry about fraying etc.

    Big fan of all your patterns. Tackling the Pocket Pal today. It is my first time sewing cork. I have a Microtex needle, what is your suggested stitch length? And is it ok to use Cotton thread as that is all I have on hand? Thanks for your time

    • @LindsHandmadeDesigns
      @LindsHandmadeDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Yes cotton thread is fine for cork. I’d go to a 3.5 or 4 stitch length.

    I love your designs and esp this wallet. Am buying a Juki2010Q soon so I can make more walllets/purses. What foot do you use on your Juki for this wallet? Looks like the same foot for everything including the zipper? Thx

    • @LindsHandmadeDesigns
      @LindsHandmadeDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The one in the video is a walking foot machine so it requires a different foot than the 2010q, I’m sorry. I’m just using the standard foot that came with my machine. I never swap out to a zipper foot unless I need to get in tight next to something, lol.

  • @renepellissier7308
    @renepellissier7308 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you think it would work to make the zipper just a teeny bit longer for easier access to the coin compartment? Love this little wallet.

    • @LindsHandmadeDesigns
      @LindsHandmadeDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is about ¾” gaps on the ends so if you want to cut ¼” more on each side that would give you ½” more room. Worth a try 🤷🏼‍♀️

    What rotary cutter are you using? I have a Fiskars and it doesn't cut very well.

    • @LindsHandmadeDesigns
      @LindsHandmadeDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s more the sharpness of your blade thats most important over the brand. I make sure to change it out regularly, especially if I find myself pushing down really hard or going over the same cut multiple times....

  • @marthacormellramirez2105

    What is the purpose of the ribbon when making card slots?

    • @LindsHandmadeDesigns
      @LindsHandmadeDesigns  ปีที่แล้ว

      It keeps the cards seated properly in the cut slot. Without it, all your cards would simply fall to the bottom 🤷🏼‍♀️

    • @LindsHandmadeDesigns
      @LindsHandmadeDesigns  ปีที่แล้ว

      You don’t have to use ribbon. You can use any thin material that folds nicely and doesn’t add bulk. Ribbon is just non-fraying and simple to use is all.

    Im new so i have questions..whats the difference between a spring snap,a chicago screw or a cam snap? Also what type of paint do you use? Leather type paint?? Thx u

    • @LindsHandmadeDesigns
      @LindsHandmadeDesigns  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A spring snap goes by many different names but it’s for lighter applications like a decorative snap on a button up shirt for example. More people have heard of a line 20 or 24 snap but those are for more heavy duty applications like thicker leather products etc. Kam snaps are those little plastic snaps you find on stuff like cloth diapers. I use Giardini brand edge paint or there are plenty edge paints available at your local leather shop or amazon. If you want to click the amazon link in the description box I posted for a spring snap kit, you can at least SEE what they look like so you know what you’re looking for. Hope that helps!

    I LOVE this pattern! Thank you for this and the tutorial. I have a question. I’ve made three and my lining doesn’t get caught in the top stitching around the wallet at the end stage. Any tips? I’m sewing it at 1/8th so what I did was did two rows of top stitching. But how can I avoid this. Thanks so much!

    • @LindsHandmadeDesigns
      @LindsHandmadeDesigns  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes! Actually I recommend cutting those little “v’s” in the corner SMALLER so the opening ends of narrower. The problem lies with big snips and cutting that opening bigger than the half inch your cutting in the cork/leather/vinyl portion.

    • @LindsHandmadeDesigns
      @LindsHandmadeDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MJewelry10 make sure the lining is only ⅛” shorter on all edges and then sew ¼” from the edge and lastly trim down. Doing this ensures I always catch the liner.

    What glue are you using in this video?

    • @LindsHandmadeDesigns
      @LindsHandmadeDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For my leather projects I LOVE Ecoweld, it’s a water based adhesive that I got from my local Tandy and works really well for stuff like this. I don’t recommend it for vinyl or cork though. You’ll want to stick with something like FabriTac for those.

    • @LindsHandmadeDesigns
      @LindsHandmadeDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the leather tape from wawak dot com. But the stuff from Tandy leather is just as good and is better for domestic machines in that it causes less gumming of the needle.
