Hi Murray ..I don't comment in TH-cam very often, but I'd like to offer you a big thank you. I absolutely love your videos and I'm fortunate to live in Scotland so enjoy "copying" your walks sometimes.....You're a real inspiration. Cheers Nige

You gave me some kind words earlier this year when my mental health wasn't the best prompted a winter trip to Torridon and a few places on the way.
I always think I'm incredibly lucky that I know being outdoors in the mountains does restore something in me, it is an addictive pass time because the feeling you get,i think, is so wholesome and somewhere in our DNA we are born to be free outdoors and exploring. Your channel is for me and I'm sure many more of your viewers a cheat to get a top up of that revitalising mountain time.. Hope things are good for you mate.. positive vibes from the lake district

Word of the Day: ‘stravaiging’ 😁. I think walking without concentrating allows the mind to think things through and, in a big landscape or one full of bird song and trees, to get a different perspective on things. Thanks for sharing these moments of quietude.

Murray, I've been interested in walking Scotland's hills for many years, and having had a dreadful experience once on the Isle of Skye, I've always wondered about the possibility of finding somewhere to walk, just like this one you've done. I've watched loads of your videos, and this is the one that's got me looking at the map again for the first time to see roughly where it is, and I've made notes about the names of the hills you covered with Lexi, this will come in very handy when I retire in a couple of years. I am so, very grateful to you for showing me (and by default the world) the wonders we have at our doorstep in the UK, and you and Lexi have made my evening a very unexpectedly enjoyable one.

Yeah, I don't think getting away to get a mental break, wanting time for yourself, is a bad thing at all. It's good to get away, be at peace with nature, letting yourself soak in all that beauty. We all need that, just go and start walking, and slowly you start feeling better. Doesn't have to be in full nature either, can be anywhere. Hello, endorphins. Hi, deer at 5:15, aren't you all just lovely! That much smaller cairn looked a bit lonely, such a small pile. Is that weird? 😅Those views, can't get enough 2:00, 8:47, 11:37, 18:20, and agree about the one at 16:57, that grey against the blue sky, beautiful. But I think we can all agree the best view is lil Lexie, what a lovey! Great vid Murray, thanks ever so much, always appreciate the work you do to set everything up and that you let us go "hill striding" with you 👋

Loved the message in this video Murray🙌. There is no better way to clear your mind and look after your mental wellbeing than taking it back to basics and simply putting one foot in front of the other in the great outdoors. Something about the combination of physical exercise and emptying our minds of all the worries and anxieties of modern day life, is a special one. We avoid people too, sometimes it is important for your only company to be those beautiful views, and of course, man's best friend, never judging and always by your side, especially if there is a scotch egg to be had! 🐶. This area is gorgeous, you are very lucky to live so close by. We hope you are doing better, thank you for sharing your thoughts on this one.
    Take care,

Enjoying just walking in the hills with vague plans is a fantastic thing to do for both mental and physical health. It's so easy to always have targets and goals.

One of the good things about the rolling hills characteristic of the Cairngorms and Grampians is once you gain the altitude, you can walk long distances without losing much height that you have to regain. There is a small parking area at the end of the road in glen Isla. A couple of years ago I stayed in Braemar for a week and my intention was to do a big circular walk via Glas Maol around the rim of those deep glens. I got to the start and found I had left my water bottles behind, so rather than write off the day I did a quick hike to the summit of the Corbett Monamenach, which is only a two hour round trip and doable without a drink.

Once again a top of the class video. In my youth I walked on Dartmoor, in the Lake District, in Snowdonia, the Dales etc but the Perthshire hills were my introduction to Scotland and began my love of the lands over the Border. Scotlands hills and mountains just seem to soak up the stress and set one free! Brilliant as usual, thank you.😊❤

we work all week(zoomed in). we try to walk in the hills all of our free time to zoom out. your eyes control your brain. trapped in an office, in a car, in a workshop or in a factory, you name it is zoomed in. Our eyes need to zoom out to relieve us of our problems and let us look at the bigger picture. most of the time it makes us realise they are not as bad or sometimes they allow us to find a resolution. hope this walk helped with your problems. keep up the quality videos.😃

Hi Murray, just like the weather improved as the day went on, with the clouds lifting and the sun shining. Keep up the great work. 👍😊

I enjoyed this video, captured the essence of clearing the mind in the hills with some solitude. Although I’m ok now, in the past have experienced depression and anxiety, and some desperate times through work and relationships.
Hills always helped and always will, to clear the mind and think about life in general.
I’ve done the hills to the other side, so really fancy these ones and probably the same route! Hopefully enough longer days left.
Great video, very honest and superb content as always, as you said, don’t have to do the crazy adventures to have a good time! 👍

Thanks Murray. You're right it is lovely walking over that way. Reminds me on a smaller scale of my younger years walking the peak district and pennines before I moved to the Highlands to get 'lost' in the bigger hills. Take care.

I’m with you Murray and find the hills in this area excellent for a bit of a wander. Have done these two Munros from Auchavan on the Glen Isla side. The main objective was Monamenach but we extended the walk around to Little Glas Maol before dropping south back to the car. Was about 15 years ago but do remember camping in the parking area as it had pretty well emptied by the time we returned. Cheers Paul

I do fall into that trap so to speak of going to areas I know, particularly in shorter daylight times when you can’t get a plan b as easily, as I do like to know my cars safely parked up. Love the message from this one Murray. Thank you 🙏 ATVB Robert

Fantastic I have climbed Glas Mail from Glen Isla did a skyline circuit of Caenlochan Glen which you captured so well on your video tonight. I parked at the road end at Auchavan I ascended Caderg first there’s an overgrown stalkers path there and went all away around to Mongea Hill descend via its south ridge a fantastic route about 21km …another cracking video tonight thanks ATB Andy

This was amazing to watch Murray. I headed up to Glen Doll today to do Mayar and Dreish via Corrie Fee and down the Kilbo path with my dog and father in law. Very claggy conditions above the 800m mark but got the clearance at the head of the Kilbo path and was treated to some fantastic views that were obscured earlier on. The relevance in your content tonight about having the hills to yourself really emphasised with my hike today, nobody around so had that peaceful solitude. I did notice you had something tied to the base of your jacket to allow Lexi's lead to be attached to allow her the freedom to do what she wants, what is that exactly as I'm looking to get one for our Mitsy?

Hi Harry - one of my favourite things is the solitude in some areas - I am aware that when back on the Munro tracks on this hike - it got busier again , didnt have to go far off the well trodden path to get some solitude though. Think I would have to find a quiet area of the Lakes if I was to visit!!lol

I've spent a lot of time walking the lake district fells and found generally, the further west you go (apart from Keswick and the area around it),the more quiet and remote it is. Some of the western parts away from the main roads, don't see many people and have a completely different feel, more like Scotland. The eastern side, closest to the M6 is always busier, just because it's more easily accessible.
