Hi Heidi 🌺 . Well done . I know it will be amazing after the trim but I don't have courage to trim alot like you I will try . Happy Fourth 🇺🇸 . Have a wonderful day . 🌺🌻🌺
Thank you sooo much for the closeup shots - many times people show trimming from a distance which doesn’t give me sufficient teaching to be brave enough to prune back enough.
I do this as well when I saw your video last year & what a difference. I'm a big believer in ferlizing (Ferlizing Friday) but honestly it makes so much sense feeding your plants. You spend so much money, so why would you NOT? Sending good vibes from zone 5b. Your 🇨🇦 garden gal 😊
Jenny from Creekside Nursery suggests to soak baskets in a tub of water for 30 minutes. When the baskets soil is really dry, the water runs off as if the soil is like concrete so no absorption. Soaking works, I do it all the time. I bought a cement mixing tub for around $11 to use as a potting tray but also use it this way.
It depends on how they look. This was a nice looking plant so i did not need to trim this hard. But i did want to show people you can if you have to and they will flush back out. An update video will be coming soon.
I trimmed mine last night and felt that “guilty twinge” but I know I made those petunias very happy. So, I am happy! 😊
Yes you did!

This was drastic but i wanted to show that it can be done
I love that you put the Supertunia Vista Bermuda Beach with the new yellow Saffron Finch! It’s gorgeous!! 😍
It is a nice mix
It was such an emotional rollercoaster 😂 reminder to self: trust the expert, trust the process 😅
LOL.

Glad it was helpful!
Please let us see this in a couple weeks. 😮 I’ve seen the length around the pot cut back but never all on top. 😀
This was a drastic presentation for those who have a bad looking top
It’s like trimming one’s bangs....it little more here and a little more there. 😂
that is funny and true
Very rarely fertilized my pots of annuals. You have convinced me and I have used the PW once a week. Great results! TY!
Thanks for the feedback.
I was good with the first cut, but the second cut took my breath away!! 😂😂😂
lol
Excellent. By the way, I loved you hair. Thanks for your acknowledge.
Thanks for watching.
I’ve been doing the same thing to my petunias. It definitely takes at least two weeks for the new growth to fill in.
It does take a few week but so worth a fresh looking palnt.

Wish I'd seen this before my petunias petered out. Next year will be different. 💐
Glad to share this tip
It feels like plant “murder” but so worth it in the end! Thanks for the lesson!😊
Yes it is.
What’s the fix to help the soil/plants if water runs right through?

Yes may need to submerge the pot to let the soil get saturated.
So Heidi should I water my plants first then fertilize? My plants don't flourish like what I see on your videos-
learning 😃
Water daily and fertilize weekly with a water soluble fertilizer.
Can that fertilizer be used on vegetables as well?
I would say it could if in a pinch.
My impatiences planted in flower beds are leggy where do I trim ?
We have also trimmed Impatiens, they dont flush out as fast as petunias.
This fertilizer stains. Anything I can do for that ?
I am not aware of it staining, but i suppose if you have a new white cement patio you may see it.
I thought we weren’t supposed to trim more than 20% off the supertunias. 🤔

Happy 4th of July Heidi and Rod. Pray for our Freedom, 1776! Love the video today, a teaching moment! ❤😅❤
Thanks for watching.
that was hard to watch
And impossible for me to do! I do give my petunias a trim - but that was a buzz cut 😆
Yes it was.
