The real reason the full metal Phantom Orion couldn’t outlast the original isn’t necessarily because of the extra weight, but because of how that weight is distributed. The reason Phantom Orion is such an incredible stamina type isn’t because of the Bearing Drive (though it does contribute to Orion’s great stamina). It’s because of the design of the 4D Phantom wheel. Since the core is made of plastic, that means 95% of the weight is at the very edge, increasing centripetal force and causing the bey to spin longer. By making the core and clear wheel metal, that amazing weight distribution disappears and brings most of the weight back to the center. This lowers the amount of centripetal force the bey is able to produce and will naturally not spin as long. Hope someone found this interesting at least. If you’re still reading, hi! There is a secondary reason as well, which has to do with launching. Because of the significant added weight it takes significantly more force to get the same angular velocity. Pulling the ripcord with the same force as the original Phantom Orion will give you a much weaker launch because it wasn’t able to accelerate properly (likely a problem with Metal L-Drago too which might explain the tip kicking in too fast)
It's one of the main reasons I like Beyblade, bey physics are really interesting! I didn't know that about the wheel Phantom, that's pretty cool.

Phantom Orion is my all time favorite beys and it low-key makes me wonder why Dr Ziggurat didnt hire Chris to be a part of Team Star Breaker. Maybe because Chris won't like the idea of the arrangement system? Because he's a blader that battle with his heart and spirit.
That would assume that he knew of Chris prior to the events of Metal Fury being that Chris was introduced as a legendary bladder which was after the world championships

Regular phantom isn't losing just because of it's middle weight is way lesser which makes all centrifugal force towards it's metal ring and bearing helps it to run even more. Not just in anime but in real world the phantom orion's design is remarkable.
I actually just left a comment myself explaining this a little more in depth. People always assume it’s the Bearing Drive that makes Orion the best stamina type. And while it does help a little, you could replace it with 145WD and it would still have the best stamina out of every other bey just because the 4D metal wheel is so well designed to max out stamina

It looks like the tip on the metal Orion has a higher pitch, as in sharper. If you notice the metal one tends to tilt itself more often than regular Orion. I'd love to see a flat out comparison, like how long each of them spins, which has more recoil, etc. You could do it in shorts of you don't want to make avideo

Outward weight Distribution is one of the key factors to Orion's stamina...That's why it has a plastic ring/frame in the middle...
Well, there IS a noticeable difference in both the sharpness of the tip as well as the balance of the bey as a whole. You could see several instances where the bey was shakey when it shouldn't have been.
With the full metal beys I wish you’d use less stock combos and lean further towards combos built to potentially beat them while remaining thematic? A veriaries combo with Metal Face and maybe RF would have been more interesting? And I DEFINITELY would love to see a revisit of the full metal beys but with you trying to make them as competitive as possible! (Probably that means a return to plastic final survive for L drago 😭😭)

Here's my reasons why the regular phantom wins:
- the phantom wheels core frame is plastic, which creates more outward rotational inertia as a side-effect.
- B:D being plastic also reduces weight in the center mass of phantom, altogether with said Fusion Wheel, this makes all the primary rotational mass gather on the metal frame of phantom, which is great for stamina.
Can't wait to see what a FM Duo Uranus or Flash Saggitario would be like hehe

I knew for sure that Phantom orion OG would beat the full metal. Its just science. Not only is he heavier but the metal has a lot more friction potential than the plastic (Specifically plastic for the B:D because it is quite literally made to be frictionless.) The weight adds more friction potential and the metal on metal clashing will cause eventual chip to the inside of the FMB:D. I think if you took B:D and put it on in place of FMB:D it would have at least a little more stamina due to the weight decrease and frictionless B:D but it would also weigh more than most beyblades still giving it th weight edge.
EDIT: try and take the very tip of FMB:D and replace it with the original B:D tip so it still makes the tip heavier without the issue of chipping and scraping the metal with the freespin pole.
I think the reason it spins less is more due to the phantom PC core with all the weight on the outer edge it has better centrifugal force
you could also see when the full metal orion was spinning that the full metal bearing tip was unbalanced, and it didn't help that the tip was sharper than regular bearing, so it also lost a lot of stamina just flinging its weight around

Here's an idea, collate all the parts you have and put it in a randomizer, and make random beys go against each other
I think with the spin track and tip being metal it makes it worse for the bearing drive it creates too much friction
The standard Phantom Orion has one big advantage. Since the plastic core of the phantom wheel is... Well plastic, all of The weight is on the outside which creates more centrifugal force. So its not just The total weight, its where The weight is focused
The mass is distributed the same for both of them however the metal one has more mass so it has higher moment. The difference in skin time is probably due to the bearing drive not being designed as well on the metal one or the metal one being unbalanced
@@Player-pj9kt that can probably be one factor. But I am PRETTY SURE that the weight distribution is different, thus affecting the performance. One is obviously heavier yes. But the other one HAS most of its weight focused on the outside creating a flywheel effect.
You could put bearing drive on any good stamina wheel and it still wouldn't do as well as phantom Orion

If an object has greater moment of inertia, it will spin longer than an object with lower moment (assuming they start at same angular speed). We can calculate the moment of inertia of phantom orion's fusion wheel. Since both the metal and OG one have metal frames, we can say that the moment of the metal frame is the same for both. Now we must compare the moment of the core. I will approximate the core as a disk. Google says the moment of a disk is = 0.5MR^2 where M is the mass of the core, R is the core. Both the metal and OG phantom orion have the same shape and radius core. However, since the mass of the core is greater for metal phantom orion, the moment has to be greater than the OG phantom orion. Therefore the moment of inertia is greater for the all metal beyblade. Think of it this way..everpart of the metal bey is the same shape as the OG bey. The only difference is the mass. Think of it this way, if you have two identicals disks, but one was made out of metal and the other out of plastic, which one will have the greater moment? the one with metal

Metal has less friction, so it has more stamina, and due to its weight, it is very hard to beat
Correction some the metal actually has more friction potential. Inside the BD there is a metal pole that freespins. there is contact that happens between the pole and the main part of B:D whic causes eventual chipping and scraping, basically nullifying the freespin and making its stamina unpredictable. The only metal that would have less friction is the actual tip of B:D. I think if there were a way to put the FMB:D tip piece on the OG B:D then it could have high potential.

Phantom Orion isn’t actually light, it’s pretty average weight for a 4D beyblade, the reason why it tends to get knocked out is due to bearing drive having low friction with the stadium, and the Phantom wheel actually having a surprising amount of recoil. It’s nowhere near Variares, Diablo, or Flash, but it still actually has a decent amount of recoil, and can be used as part of an attack type combo with decent results
The bottom is not that spiky on the original, I believe that's the big difference, it loses its stability too easy

If there's a way to make fm Orion's BD work better (maybe by using some WD-40), I think it would perform much better.
I’m sure the B:D works as intended. The reason it’s stamina is so bad compared to the original is because it’s full metal. The reason the original has such amazing stamina is because the entire center of the bey is plastic, meaning all the weight from the metal wheel is at the very edge of the bey, increasing centrifugal force. Since the new one is completely metal, it ruins the weight distribution and brings the all the weight to the center, decreasing the amount of centrifugal force produced.

I find it rather funny that in a way, Phantom Orion and Platinum Orion have the same general weakness which is heavy hits from their opponent.
Phantom obviously can be knocked out of the stadium rather easily
While Platinum's worse weight distribution and stamina means that if it's opponent can hit it with enough strikes, Platinum can easily be knocked off balance

Something about the excessive weight is making the springs on it to losen up or just not being strong enough
