Wound care profession frowns upon use of antiseptic or antibiotics. Packing a wound interferes in human body's ability to heal itself. Wound care in the US is huge business with vested interests, rarely over seen by physicians, except those who benefit from repeated surgical debridements. Federal and state health departments have lately become wizened and placed limits on length of time they are willing to pay for the wound care.
Does anyone know where I can look for specific first aid for knife and gunshot wounds? I need something fairly in depth for basic training for staff members for a large concert venue. Thanks

Because there are these things called research articles and peer-reviewed journals and even international consensus guidelines that provide multifocal research demonstrating why some treatment plans and wound care dressings may offer a better protection against the underlying disease process. I think what is modt lacking is education as to what wounds need to heal appropriately. I understand your concern, but to blame the entire system for some anecdotal evidence of failures in wound care seems like as a big of a blanket statement as you could possibly make. Where, may I ask, is better wound care treatment provided around the world?
