I may be in the minority, but I’m a metal head and I loved a- ha. This is by far my favorite song that they made, but that entire “ Hunting high and low” album was fantastic. I caught a lot of flack from my friends but who cares man. I know good music when I hear it and they were and still are fantastic!!!
Fantastic song. Wonderful performance. Very moving. The orchestra lifts it to another level. Morten was and still is amazingly handsome. He is 51 here. Still looks great at 60..
Under appreciated?? With polite respect, Ah-Ha is worldwide the largest selling pop band of the 80s, seconded only by Michael Jackson... Their 1985 album _Hunting High & Low_ has gone platinum 3 times. Their career hit _Take On Me_ hit 1 billion views on TH-cam in 2020, & currently stands at 1.7 billion views I was 13 in 1985. I bought _Hunting High & Low_ on LP the month of its release. I try not to idolize my favorite musicians, but I'm definitely an Ah-Ha fan. _Take On Me_ & _The Sun Always Shines On TV_ were daily fixtures on MTV until the end of the 80s... Personally, the only artists I admire as much as I do them are Steve Winwood, George Benson, Dave Grusen, Roger Webb, & Alberici & May. Roger Webb & Alberici & May are not mainstream musicians. They are Contemporary Orchestra musicians in the Easy Listening category. So most people will not recognize them, but their music is here on TH-cam
2010 Albert Hall recording has really nailed it down!!! I would put this song as a visit card for A-Ha ever. Great lyrics, great vocals and great audience, by the way... :)))
I saw him in concert 1988 London got to the front of the stage touched Mortens shoe ! It was a moment of utter euphoria I will never forget , my girl crush is still in my heart today when ever I hear AHA songs ❤❤❤
Diego El Manya , there,s a Lot of songs much better than Take on me... I really love “Living a boy’s adventure tale” song, have you ever hear it? I love so much A-ha, above all Morten Harket since my childhood... ♥️♥️♥️
So happy to see your comment - was totally thinking the same, watching it four years after your comment! The same during 'Living a boy's adventure tale,' you can see the orchestra relishing it.
They had so many issues within the band, it ruined their ability to keep the band relevant through the 00s. They basically self destruct because they didn`t get along. Just watch the last documentary about them. They are only together on stage. it`s really sad. Paal is such a great song writer but it`s pretty obvious he hates working with Morten and Mags.
You have to listen to this song with headphones. For me this song is the ultimate A-ha song par excellence. The introduction alone is awesome. You immediately become nostalgic. The orchestra rounds off the whole thing so dreamily that you can and must listen to it over and over again! ! But what is very striking is that the 3 don't have much to say anymore. At least not at this time. Which has been confirmed several times. Not a single exchange or eye contact, which I personally find very unfortunate. In previous videos and performances, you can see that very well. Singing together, laughing ect. This looks very professional but also very rehearsed. Everyone does their thing. But since they are professionals, musically it is still TOP! ! !
I love the way he sings this here. Its like the grown up version of the original recording. a-ha are definitely up there with my all time favourite bands and IMO this is deffo their best song.
Morten Harkett... the longest strongest voice to ever fill Royal Albert Hall. He still holds the record for longest unassisted sustain of a human voice. Thats a fact!

It always grates me how people complain about vocal techinques and different arrangments in parts of songs. It's his song, he can do what he likes. Hoping that sometime in the future this concert will be released on dvd/blu ray. A~ha are the best band of the 80's and IMO if people are still mentioning their name 30 years on (this year) then that is a testement in itself. Glad to have been a fan since the start 👍👍👍
fun fact: A-ha's 2000 International Hit "Summer Moved On" contains the Longest Note Held on any record in history. Lead singer Morten Harket (possibly the Best Male Vocalist of this Generation) holds a note in the Song for 21 Seconds, and then after another two seconds holds another for five, so in the course of about 30 seconds he's holding notes for 27 of them. The more impressive thing is that in concert when A-ha performs Summer Moved On, the note is strectched another five and he actually goes Higher half way through the Note, which is pretty much impossible to any Human.
