  • A performance focused Tamiya rally build. What I like to think Tamiya would have created if their engineers had been left to do the ultimate scale and performance kit of a Lancia Delta. This is part one where i put together the chassis based off an Embie Racing carbon chassis set up as used by many European RC Rally drivers.

Regarding the diff shims to protect the NN parts, what size (ID/OD) did you use? I don't want to take my diffs apart to measure the shaft (until required) but based on the instructions it looks like 4mm ID and perhaps a 6mm OD would work such as the 3Racing 3RAC-SW04/V2? I'm going to rebuild my diffs with metal gears and thicker oil so may as well shim them as well. Do you think 50k oil would be a good compromise between stability and avoiding under-steer? Great video by the way, thank you.

Thanks for all the useful pointers! Absolutely adore your XV01s and videos. (Helped me justify my second one!)
I’ve got a couple questions if I may:
    1. Which manufacturer produced that motor mount with the fan mount?
    2. Which make of shims did you go for for the NN spacers? And of what thickness?
    Many thanks in advance! Cheers!

Hahaha and thanks so much Michael. I used generic shims from yeah Racing if memory serves me. They were 0.1mm in thickness. As for the electric fan and motor mount, I will need to grab a look and let you know as I can't remember for the life of me.

That's the best XV01 build video I have seen. Lots of great info to take away from that. I think I need to rebuild mine now! With the chassis kit do you just buy 'the chassis kit' or do you need any other of their parts to make it all fit? I looked at their website but it didn't really give much detail. Thanks.

    • @radiocontrolcarshed2236
      @radiocontrolcarshed2236  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thankyou hugely for the compliment. Means a lot as I'm just enjoying sharing anything I can so others don't make the same mistakes I did. You buy the parts from embie via Facebook messenger and all you really need is the basic kit. But you will want to have spare m3 bolts and screws to sort out some of the mounting of links etc that don't have a place to tap into unlike when they had plastic holes to screw into in the original chassis. If you decide to start a project please do message me and I will be happy to help out.

@@radiocontrolcarshed2236 that's great, thanks for the reply. Yes I'll give you a shout if I decide to get the chassis kit, much appreciated. I have only recently built the car and have most of the important upgrades on it but haven't had much chance to give it a proper test yet. My mate is in the process of building a track so hope to get some testing in soon. Shimming the spacer in the gearbox is something I haven't done so I'll strip it and do that before it's too late. Cheers, Chris.

@@christianthomas9713 you are going to love this car mate. Its the most versatile chassis you can own. Great fun on dirt and on tarmac. And incredibly robust as well. Just change the Tamiya spur and pinion. I forgot to mention that in the video. Use any Kimbrough 48 pitch and get some steel pinions.... The Tamiya pinion destroys itself after a couple batteries.

@@radiocontrolcarshed2236 I've put the slipper clutch in it and I have a tamiya sport tuned brushed motor at present. Although I don't want stupid power, the motor on 2s is a bit lame so I'm going to give it a try on 3s. After seeing yours I may give a 13.5 or 10.5 bl a go on 2s. What spur and pinion are you running on yours?

    Great video!
I was hoping to replace the standard rear knuckles on my XV-01. Any advice you can give would be much appreciated.
The standard knuckles take two bearings and a plastic spacer, so the GPM XV1238RST pokes out just enough for the pin that holds the wheel hub to be inserted into the hole.
The GPM XV022 knuckles don't seem to work that way.
If I try to use both bearings the CVD won't go far enough through the knuckle.
If I only use the outside bearing the CVD goes too far.
The plastic spacer from the stock knuckles doesn't do anything in the new ones.
Am I missing something really obvious?
