    Outstanding. I am looking at these tires. I enjoyed your actual "inclement use" review vice others "I just mounted these and shall regurgitate factory specs" reviews.

      I appreciate that! I would like to think that I'm fairly objective. I don't get paid for any reviews and buy all of my own products, and truly, these are the best all-around tires that I've personally run--and I've had quite a few. The only drawback for them for me personally, is their weight. It's middle-of-the-road as far as I'm concerned, so not terrible, but not great. Well, and their cost...they're also not the cheapest all-terrains on the market.
      We don't get a whole lot of snow down here in TN, so I figured I'd take advantage of it while I could haha!

    I just wanted to compliment you on the videos and your vehicle. I had a 62 Willys Jeep Pickup truck when I was in high school, and just last month took delivery of a 2021 Gladiator Rubicon. It's been great so far, and I'm waiting for my RCI SmartCap Evo to be delivered. Anyway, just want you to know the work you're putting into your Jeep and these videos is appreciated.

      Thanks for the kind words and for taking the time to comment Dan! I appreciate it!
      That Willys sounds like an awesome vehicle! Definitely can't go wrong with the Gladiator either. I'm loving every day and every adventure with mine, and I'm sure you will too.

    I just purchased these hopefully i like them. I had the Mickey thompsons baja boss and loved them quiet smooth ride

      I've yet to have any issues with them. The only notable losses of traction I've had were in clay after rain, and on ice...conditions which I really wouldn't expect any A/T tire to excel in.
      I'm coming up on 30k miles on mine, and they still look great and have excellent tread. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

    Any updates on how they handled snow with more wear on them? TIA

    • @TerraOutdoors
      @TerraOutdoors  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I took them off at around 40,000 miles (I went up in size). No major complaints. I never got them into any significant snow accumulation--6" to 8" tops. They're decidedly not winter tires, but they performed well enough in every situation I threw at them.

    Hey man, love your videos. You asked for critique on your stuff, so I will just throw this in, try to cut down on the “umm’s”. Don’t take it negatively, It’s just a small thing I noticed. Other than that man, I will continue to follow, keep doing what you’re doing.

      Appreciate it!
      I'm 100% aware of that issue, and I definitely do try to work on it. It's always been kind of a mental-verbal crutch/bridge between thoughts for me. You mentioning it reinforces the fact that I need to get better about it though. Maybe I'll make a goal for this year of putting out an entire video without saying it once...haha. Thanks for the critique!

    All I’ve heard is horror stories about them in the snow. I ended up with the on my Trail Boss. I like them so far

    • @TerraOutdoors
      @TerraOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Living in the south, I haven't seen a "true" winter with them yet. We do get nasty rain/snow mix, ice, freezing rain, etc. on occasion though. I was perfectly happy with them, but again I didn't have them in anything crazy deep. I'm also from up north and am used to driving in snow, so maybe that helps.
      For vehicles that frequently see snow, I've heard that Grabbers and Wildpeaks are excellent choices.

    How did you like these compared to the KO2's? Thanks for the review!

    • @TerraOutdoors
      @TerraOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I ran a set of KO2s on a Nissan Titan that I used to have. As far as function, I was a big fan--they performed very well. Having said that, I had one of them explode with a sidewall separation on the highway at around 60 mph, with less than 10,000 miles on them from new. Upon closer inspection, the tires were dry rotted in spots.
      I've heard stories from others about BFG quality control, and unfortunately I experienced it firsthand. My issue may have been a fluke, but I couldn't trust them after that, and ended up letting them go. After that I moved on to Cooper STT Pros. Exceptional tires, but they wore very quickly. These Ridge Grapplers have been my hands down favorite tires since I discovered them. They've done everything I've asked them to and more, and are wearing very well with around 15,000 miles so far.
      Thanks for checking it out!

    Thanks for the review! Can you tell me what headlight grill/ guards are you using?

    • @TerraOutdoors
      @TerraOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for checking it out!
      They're Rugged Ridge, part number 11230.21. They won't stop much small stuff because of the gaps, but they seem well built (they're metal) and I have confidence they'd deflect a larger rock. Great little pieces.
      I'm hoping that RR puts out matching taillight guards eventually. The ones available for the JL do not fit.

  • @gvsukids
    @gvsukids 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    when you pulled them out, did you use the rear hook or a shackle? in the cold weather, do you notice the truck losing heat without the headliner? cool idea about transporting people, doesn't look like much snow.

    • @TerraOutdoors
      @TerraOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, definitely not much snow haha. I think since this began, we've gotten maybe 4 inches? Things down here shut down after about an inch though. We did get a good bit of ice, then the snow compacted and hardened on top of that, so it's definitely slick, but not too bad. Snow removal down here is terrible.
      I used a tow strap and two attachment points (d ring shackles on my bumper). Freezing rain sealed the shackles in place so I had to use pliers to break the ice and get the pin out which I didn't anticipate haha.
      Mine didn't come with a headliner, so I have no point of reference. I've found it to be plenty warm though. I usually have to turn my heater down to keep from sweating.

      @@TerraOutdoors ice is the worst. Here in West Michigan, we have 2 feet of fluffy snow, which will settle as temps rise out of the teens.

    Maybe you mentioned in other videos but what make are your mud flaps? I have a red gladiator also and tired of all the mud slinging on the sides.

    • @TerraOutdoors
      @TerraOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think I have actually.
      I bit the bullet and went with RokBlokz (XL-Original size). They're a bit more expensive, but they're downright fantastic. Not a single chip or issue with mud/grit that I've seen since install.

    What Is the coldest temperature you ran these in/ in the winter when you had these on, what was the temperature? Here we get - 20 just want to know of the tire is soft enough rubber to not get hard /freeze up.

    • @TerraOutdoors
      @TerraOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't had them in any temperatures that cold. I'd say the lowest they've been in was about +15F. They performed just fine at that temperature.

    • @adibabrahmziy
      @adibabrahmziy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TerraOutdoors ah ok yea +15F°= -10C°. So hopefully - 20 won't be too bad. I know they don't have the 3 peak mountain snowflake symbol but I've heard guys do just fine in the winter up here in Ontario with them on. I will test it myself. Will give an update around January 2021 👌 thnx for the reply

      @@adibabrahmziy Hey. I am in Ontario as well. Been running Goodyear Duratrac on my Range Rover. They were really great. However im interested if you did get the Ridge Grapplers, if so how did they perform for you?

    • @adibabrahmziy
      @adibabrahmziy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@scottszeryk857 just did my first winter with them though I was not really driving the truck alot, when I did. They performed good. Just don't go fast in super slushy snow conditions (obviously) and you Will be fine. It was like - 15 outside and I tried to pinch the tire and it wasn't soft soft but it definitely wasn't hard either. So with driver logic and skill and speed limit obey you will be just fine as I was 👍 I did go over the curb but I had too much confidence on the 4x4 in the middle of a bad snow storm so that was on me and not the tires lol. But they performed great.

    How was winter traction towards the end of the life of these?

    • @TerraOutdoors
      @TerraOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll be crossing that bridge when I come to it! I haven't measured depth, but based off of the mileage rating I'm only about half way through their life (up to 50,000 miles). I'm sitting at just over 24,000 miles on the Jeep so far, and have had no issues on any surface, except for the Mississippi mud that I encountered in my last trip video. I'd argue that even aggressive mud tires wouldn't have made a huge difference on that, as it was basically saturated clay.
      I'm optimistic that the tires will provide good grip throughout their rated life. I plan on buying another set once these ones check out.
