I just rode it yesterday for the first time - this ride is RELENTLESS; doesn't give you a break until the 2nd lift hill and the end of the ride. Other than that it's non-stop thrills: near vertical first drop, airtime, twisting, turning, high-speed... everything a coaster should have. Absolutely loved it!
@@marinadiaz1762 Marina you owe it to yourself to go on it!! I've been on everything at 6FMM and Twisted is by far the best ride there. To ride it after dark and on a run where the carriages are perfectly synced for both laps is the best thing ever
Probably because it's way funner when you see people going the path you just took and syncing with them. It's like this is what real entertainment is. I can't explain it but it's like seeing an entire train separate from yours having fun and being so close to yours, it makes everything way more enjoyable knowing everyone else (hopefully) is having as much fun as you. I guess it's like the communal experience. You and everyone else is experiencing the same thing and you're all loving it, so it makes you enjoy it even more. It's bliss, I would love to ride this!
This video is testament to the reason that Twisted Colossus is my favorite coaster and will be for the foreseeable future. No other coaster delivers the quality of ride that it does while simultaneously providing such a unique dual track element. I mean, just look at the cheering and enthusiasm displayed during the second lift.
This is such a awesome ride! Genius being able to ride essentially two times and the way they match the two trains up on the lift. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of air time you get. Just love it! Great job Six Flags so happy you reinvented and were able to keep this classic ride!
Being raced on Twisted Colossus was probably the most fun, beautiful and unique thing I've ever seen on a roller coaster. The fact that you go twice and they run 4 trains at a time makes it even better.
This was the one coaster we went on twice while there a couple months ago. It's a simple recipe, but when two cars sync (which I think the operators try to make happen once per run), it's surprisingly thrilling just how interwoven the two tracks feel. A real surprise and delight.
As much as I love riding Twisted Colossus and I like looking at it off ride as well I still love seeing old videos of the OG Colossus too. Those old videos take me back to a place in my life when I felt pure unbridle joy. There was nothing like it. Everytime I go to the park and see Colossus from the parking lot it reminds me of just what a true wonder it was and continues to be.
That is a perfect duel, like the one I had last visit, I rode it twice one at night right before park closes and one in the morning, both rides had duel. I was lucky enough to have 2 perfect duels on the night ride, love this coaster
The high-five element is not a true high-five element being how the trains are traveling in the same direction. Even Alan (the designer) didn't call it a high-five element. It would've been had the design been to where the trains traveled opposing each other. Anyway, LOVE THIS COASTER!!!!!!!!! One day I'll make it out to Cali to experience it lol, but being a minimum wage working college boy........sigh, the struggles are real lol. It's so cool how this is the FIRST EVER full-circuit coaster that you travel on TWICE in one ride!! Gotta hand it to RMC. I can't wait to see what they do in the future.
It's been done. I forget the name, but there's a roller coaster in China that has a proper high-five element where the trains travel towards each other.
Jay Alford the roller coaster in china with the high five travels the same direction with both trains. It does the exact same thing as this. Both trains travel the same direction
The ride in China is two separate tracks but when it goes through the high five both trains travel the same direction. Watch the video that theme park review did. It shows that it's same direction
TGChinappi Yeah I've seen it a few times, but it was a while ago & I thought they both traveled opposite of each other, but....no, no they don't haha. Damn, I'm sorry. You were right. I was wrong. Let me buy you dinner & ice cream lol.
After all these years I finally rode Twisted Colossus today and holy crap it completely took me by surprise. The legitimate ejector airtime on the first drop made me think I was going to be thrown out of the train. What an incredible ride.
I just rode it for the first time last weekend since it became Twisted Colossus. I am about to age myself but I rode the original Colossus in the 80s. It was my favorite coaster. I will date myself even further. I can remember when Colossus was being built. I remember a 9 year old me looking at a model of Colossus on display and being both frightened and fascinated. Of course I didn’t get to ride it until 1981 but then it was the best ride ever. I remember being in the queue and hearing the pre recording talking about it. Ring the tallest and fastest wooden roller coaster in the world in several different languages. Anyone else remember that? Anyway I am impressed with the transformation. It’s still the beloved Colossus I love… with a twist.. 🤣❤️❤️
Colossus wasn’t that bad though. I’m not saying that it wasn’t a good improvement, I think this was definitely an improvement and RMC did a very good job on this ride!
That’s a harsh statement to make. Colossus might have been old.. est 1978 probably way before most of these people were born but it had it’s a charm and it once was the tallest and fastest in the world. That’s a fact! We used to ride it at night and backwards. But I am impress with Twisted Colossus. It had that familiarity that I have fond memories… with a twist…🤣❤️😃
We went last weekend and its awesome! The lines about 50 mins long and if the train crew get you in and ready to dispatch in time you get to sync with the other train going up the hill. The trains match up speed and drop at the same time - then its just pure madness of racing and twisting around each other and it does give a lot of air time with smooth as silk ride! I believe (could be wrong) it's the first lap bar only coaster that puts you upside down- Dang it now I want to go back again!
Full Throttle has only a lap bar as well :) People say they should have a over the shoulder bar, but I think a just a lap bar adds more excitement and thrill
BryceFourn 2001 I'm not anymore because my fuck head teacher gave us finals on the day I was going to go so I can't go for two more fucking weeks... -_-
I just had this exact experience last night, just before closing. We would’ve been the second train that joined up, and everybody was super stoked and waving and yelling and in a great mood. It was my teenage son’s first time at the park. Just as in this video, the timing of the duel was *perfect*.
I went to Magic Mountain 4 times in the past 2 years from North Cal and every single time it was closed!! Thankfully i finally got to ride it this past weekend and it did not disappoint..the long wait was absolutely worth it. Easily one of my top 5 favorites!
Managed to ride this thing 5 times after dark yesterday (Tuesday of Thanksgiving week) and we got to duel once - it was fantastic! Riding in the dark of course takes it to another level but getting to duel with another train makes it that much more fun. I did love the old Colossus but this upgrade is the best!
When you are social distancing, haven’t seen friends for almost three months and finally allowed to attend amusement parks......🎢something to look forward to. 😉😍🤪
I'd say go straight to X2 first since it always has the longest line. Second would be Twisted Colossus followed by Full Throttle which I consider a little overrated and gimmicky. I'd prefer Tatsu over Full Throttle, that heart-line inversion is absolute insanity
Renee Lewis Full Throttle first. That one actually will get a long, slow moving line quickly. (X2 will usually settle to about 30-40 minutes by around 4pm) By the time you're off Full Throttle, Twisted Colossus will still have a 10-15 minute wait because everyone else went to X2.
Agreed! Thanks to RMC (Rocky Mountain Construction), these are becoming more common with newer or converted coasters. Iron Rattler at Fiesta Texas was my first. Goliath at Six Flags Great America was my 2nd. There are several other RMCs out there with inversions and only lap bars and seat belts: Wicked Cyclone, Storm Chaser, Outlaw Run, Joker at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Next year, there will be 3 more: Twisted Cyclone at Six Flags over Georgia, Twisted Timbers at Kings Dominion, and Steel Vengeance at Cedar Point. Steel Vengeance is getting all the hype, with good reason, but Twisted Timbers might be almost as good. They may end up being the 2 best coasters out there. Yeah, you could say I'm an RMC fanboy.
Amazing!!! Can't wait to get on it on Saturday. I'll be tired after Disney's 24 hour event this Friday but I'm sure twisted colossus is going to wake me up on Saturday morning!😂 can't wait for this weekend.
I just rode this today for the first time. It is the best ride in the park thus far, even though it would be better dualing. However, to me only, it is the second best RMC in this country. Steel Vengeance is still keeping her crown.
Honestly, they should have a mechanism where the train will wait for the second train before dropping. When I get dueling trains on Twisted Colossus, the fun factor goes up by 500%

This was the a really great ride, I rode it yesterday and the video doesn't do it justice. The blue and the green side have characteristics any coaster entustiast would love.

Christopher H. I. Know this is a year old but my favorite part is the racing! I have to go on this everytime we go!

Such an amazing ride! Everyone having a great time & without knowing each other having a great time!
That's what it means to be alive :) I hope I can ride this coaster one day and feel that feeling.
This ride looks so cool! I used to be an operator for both Goliath and was one of the opening crew members for Superman Escape from Krypton.

This ride deserved a makeover being one of Magic Mountains first big coasters.
Steampunk theming with props would be amazing
This coaster is off the hook!! I've never been on anything like it. So much fun!!
