Metal Detecting Digging Tool Comparisons

  • In this video we compare three hand held digging tools and three T handled digging shovels made for metal detecting. We take a look at the Lesche hand digger and compare the blades and handles with the Garrett and Whites. We have used all three of these prior to our conclusions. We also take a look at the Piranha made by Predator Tools and compare them with the Whites Ground hog digger and Wiskey Walker T handle shovel.
    We invite you to share with us your experiences on the tools you have chosen.

    Will be getting a couple of whites. My son and I go through quite a lot of small shovels just from our local hardware . They don't work out too well........ just went to three online stores all sold out

      Whites closed their business this year but Garrett made an announcement that they purchased Whites. 🤞 that Garrett will continue making these diggers 🤞. Garrett Metal detectors customers service centre may know if they will continue this line.

Not that the others are bad..but I believe the White's digger to have some obvious advantages which can be hard to differentiate unless you've used them all and have them side by side. Good Job, my whites shovel is a bit bent just up from the blade. I also bent my large letch but not much. My cedar river shovel is tough as nails, but a tad heavy. It also holds mud in it more once your done with a plug, but great for tough fields. Thanks for the info, I dont use a hand digger, just more belt weight I don't need. But now I know what to get if I ever change things up.

    I really like the predator tools, I just recently purchased the ultra eagle @ 85 bucks, for use in yard permissions where neatness counts, it has a 4-1/2"wX7-7/8"L blade total length is 37-1/2" perfect for those yard permissions. and Then I Use the Predator Baracuda @ 90 bucks with 5"X9" blade length and has a wider step set up for foot pad use, Overall length is 38" both are T handle. The Baracuda is very light like your Piranha and blade shape is the same, perfect for digging in fields or woods. Thanks for the comparision video.

    My DIY trowel is made of 10 gauge steel. That's about 1/8" thickness. So many makers use thin metal and heat treat it. What happens is....the blade becomes brittle and eventually cracks. I go with heavier metal to compensate the tempered thinner metals.

    I really appreciate this review, thank you so much for filming the review! ❤️
    I gave you a thumbs up and LIKED your video review.
    I have been struggling with a replacment shovel. This gives me a better grasp on the choices. I have been concerned with choices out there for shovels with steel wrapped around wood that are available in local building stores. They seem to not be as well built as they could be for soil penetration and reaming on it. Defintely would not last.
    And there are so many shovels out there with wimpy welds attaching the handle to the blade! Very frustrating to find a GOOD solid one.
    Thanks for this review. You have made my choices more clear!
    Wondering though....could you please provide links to the shovel manufacturers in your description? Thank you ever so much! XO

    I'm kinda leaning towards the Garret or the leshe digger it seems like there built heavier what do you suggest for heavier more compact soil ? I use a Anaconda nx5 shovel which is freaking amazing but I don't think they make a small trowel. How much is your white's?? I've been detecting for 15 years now but I'm constantly breaking them . What's the weight of the white's also ? I'd rather one built heavy like the white's

    • @RelicDirtyhands
      @RelicDirtyhands  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately, White's is no longer but was purchased by Garrett. Unsure what they are offering at the moment. The Garrett was definitely heavy duty but wasn't sharp. We're going to try Motley digging tools this season.

    Great info, I have the ground hawg shovel myself, the first one I had I bent the first day I had it with in 30 mins. I do have a video up when it happen, they did replace it for me, but I'm just afraid it's not strong enough where the shovel meets the shaft, the little elbow part it bends easy.

    • @RelicDirtyhands
      @RelicDirtyhands  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric talked about the elbow part and wondered how it would do. I didn’t use that clip but you answered the question well. Thank you for sharing that! The predator shovel we have, has taken 6 years of beating. We have never even sharpened it nor has it bent.

    • @JershsMetalDetecting
      @JershsMetalDetecting 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the ground haws actually really great for rocky areas, and roots, does small holes....... only complaint is I wouldn't reef on it to hard. if they would have welded a piece of metal from shovel to shaft it would be perfect. :) but eric did well!!!! I should show you a picture of my hand digger that has lasted me 4 years you would laugh.

    • @RelicDirtyhands
      @RelicDirtyhands  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      From my experience and others I've seen, I would choose a shovel from predator tools..they are light weight and very strong. They use some type of aerospace allow. Nice point as well..recently I acquired a lesche T handle and I find the foot step is to small...much preffer the predator.

    I bought the Garrett digger as well, and I found it too thick as well, and not sharp enough, it's about as sharp as a bowling ball! I'm gonna take a grinder to it! I love the Predator-Piranha, but I couldn't bring myself to pay almost 190. bucks to get it to Toronto, and the Sampson I wanted is out of stock. So I ordered the Lil' Digger- $39.99 USD from Alabama and had it sent to my parents house, so I can bring it back in my checked bag. I don't think the Piranha would fit.
