How can you say that this is a trashy bad movie trailer? I love all of Troy Donahue movies, and with Connie Stevens it makes the movie extra special!
I saw them both in person when I was 16, and even now at 70 yrs. old, watching Troy Donahue movies still makes my heart flutter!

Such a heart felt movie. One of the best. The back round music played a big part in this beautiful movie. The location was stunning and each of the cast members contributed a certain tenderness that you don't find in movies today. Innocence derailed by tender derailment to another reality. One of my favorites.

I love this movie. Connie and Troy were perfect together. This movie is not trashy or bad..it is a story of innocence and growing up. Parrish was another great one.

I saw this movie when it was first released in 1961. I was 16, and I watched it on the big screen at the Majestic Theater in downtown Dallas. It was in glorious Technicolor, and I remember how beautiful everything and everyone looked.

Romantic movies like this will never come our way again, it's the reruns that we enjoy today.

Delmer Daves made several great movies with Troy Donahue: A Summer Place, Parrish, Susan Slade and Rome Adventure and all were smash hits and Troy was.a big box office star. Connie Stevens was a lovely actress and for a while Queen of the WB Lot and is now one of the richest women in Hollywood. Troy went on to do other films at WB Palm Springs Weekend, A Distant Trumpet and h My Blood Runs Cold. After he left WB his star faded. Someone should do a book on the career and life of Troy Donahue

I remember this flick. I was so disappointed when Grant Williams' character was bumped off so near the beginning. A movie of its time, early 1960s. Thanks for the trailer. I haven't seen this movie in decades!

I adore this movie as much as A Summer Place and Parrish.
This was the era when real movies were made, Unfortunately people consider this classics or cult flicks bad and trashy because they are used to today's expensive garbage with its fake (computerised) special effects.

I like watching these old trailers featuring young stars, full of optimism about careers that often didn't work out and lives that are in many cases, over now. But there they are in the full bloom of youth.

what is bad is not the movie, it's the trailer. It tells the almost whole story. Especially the ending scene shouldn't have been seen in the trailer. I believe you'd agree.

You're right thinhs aren't the same. We now have 49% of babies born out of wedlock so things are better, huh??
This movie warned young girls (like me) that decisions have consequences & sometimes feelings HAVETO be controlled. Kids are not being taught that now...just do what you want, when you want. Some things were better back then.

Good comment! Popular films of the past need to be viewed in context. It makes me feel 11 again; wanting to look like Connie Stevens & wear those beautiful dresses! We all got the "warning" as well ! No sex before marriage, you will be "stained" & need a white knight like Troy Donahue to save you!

As did I. A trashy movie? Hardly!! I thought Connie did a very good job as she fit the part-young and innocent with some depth. Not at all like the trashy women of today who try to pass themselves off as actresses like Jennifer Lopez, or Julia Roberts. P.S. Connie was also quite pretty, unlike the fishy lips of Roberts and the equally plain features of Lopez.

keri caye Connie Francis died some years ago. Remember she married Eddie Fisher and had 2 girls with him. He was nothing but an addict. Used to sing in lounges in Europe just so he could pay Dr. Feelgood. Many stars were under the influence of this man.

    • @Muirmaiden
      @Muirmaiden 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@sparx180 This is Connie Stevens, and she is still living; she had a stroke a few years ago which may account for lack of public appearances (Connie Francis is still living as well). Yes, she was married to Eddie Fisher, as was Debbie Reynolds (who is possibly who you are thinking of) and Elizabeth Taylor. They all got involved with and married Fisher out of their own free will, even though he proved not to be husband and/or father material. It is not right to call someone "nothing but an addict" or say that their addictions define them, many people struggle with addiction, that doesn't make them bad or unworthy people. I'm no fan of Eddie Fisher, and all of those women could have done better, but I don't like that kind of generalization.

this was on the edge of the change from the 1950's sensibilities. all the fantasy of romance , and just like the doris day rock hudson films of make believe and aspirations of the audience. even including an unwanted pregnancy and omg sex.
