Can UNC coax Coleman Hawkins out of the NBA Draft? | More suited for 4 or 5 at North Carolina?

North Carolina is still looking to make a frontcourt splash in the transfer portal and Illinois transfer Coleman Hawkins might just be that guy. Part of the problem right now is that Hawkins is currently in the NBA Draft. CBS’ Matt Norlander suggests that if Hawkins returns to college, the Tar Heels would be in play for his services. Would Hawkins be more or a 4 or 5 for Carolina…or play some of both? Why are there misconceptions about Hawkins and his temperament? Could he be next season’s version of Cormac Ryan from a fiery standpoint? What critical things does Hawkins still need to work on improving?

Illini fan here. Coleman's temperament is NOT a problem. He plays with passion and lays it all out there. He was the heart and soul of Illinois the last two years. Tar Heel fans will love him if he ends up there. Good luck, guys!

If Jalen Wash or Withers are the starting PF, which I am perfectly happy and ok with….the center needs to be a DEFENSIVE MONSTER. 7 footer who can guard the rim and let the stretch 4 do their thing. Otherwise, Jalen Wash could be a stretch 5 and go with Cade Tyson at PF, Jackson or Powel at SF, RJ at SG, Elliott at PG. could go big or small, or run and gun. Lot of options. I think we do need an old school big to help with bigger opponents.

If Washington is the starting 5 and Tyson the starting 4 this will be a long season. This team will be at it's best if JWash is the 4. Tyson needs to be a Ryan replacement not an Ingram replacement.
