I believe DG couplings are used on this layout. They are quite popular among 2mm Finescale Association members, although there are alternatives. They are available from the Association, or they are sometimes advertised in the modelling press as they are available for other scales and gauges. A magnet underneath the track performs the uncoupling on the move, and the uncoupled wagons can then be left anywhere.
