LU was truly underrated, wish it had more success
Lucha underground was just 10 years to early plus being on el Rey meant a lot of people didn’t see it. If they tried it now with a different network and streaming it would have a much different outcome.

It says that you weren't aware of him before and you found out about Lucha Underground and became a fan. Nothing wrong with that at all. There's plenty of wrestlers i learned about from Lucha Underground like Karrion Kross, Santos Escobar, Rey Fenix, and Pentagon Jr.
They had a stacked roster by the looks of it now but alot of people weren't well known back then. Wish they got paid more though
Jus watch more indie wrestling they have some PHENOMENAL wrestlers out there rn

That match blew up from what I recalled. That’s how I first got into watching NJPW and was introduced into Will Ospreay. It was even on ESPN for a hot min at one point
Sometimes all the flips are too damn much...but Ricochet can work and has very good psychology with the amazing agility
Agreed, I feel like a lot of people miss that detail. I feel like we should be saying wrestling can be anything... as long as it fits within the realm of good psychology and not doing things just to do them.

@@ojay4923 the problem is who gets to decide what is the psychology behind it. I agree with what you said, but even the in ring psychology itself is open to interpretation. For example, Japanese wrestling is based on strong offence and less "selling" (which is actually way more believable in real life), while Mexican Lucha style is based on superhero like theatrics. No one goes to watch a superhero movie and complain that the all the flying and superpowers isn't realistic, do they? Similarly, superhero movies are definitely not for everyone and that's ok. At the end of the day, it comes down the individual and how much they're willing to buy into the style that is showcased and how much they're willing to suspend their disbelief. The more you realistically dissect pro wrestling the sillier it looks.
Btw, I'm not trying to argue, just pointing out some things.

Its funny who people say Ricochet can't have psychology, but he works with people like Rey Mysterio, Gunther, Sheamus, etc, he can really go. Not to mention, he's one of the best ragdoll sellers ever. He's got something

Ricochet's point of view of wrestling is mine as well. Wrestling can be anything from a bloody brawl to a athletic exhibition. Some parts of it may not be your cup of tea but it could be someone else's but at the end of the day, wrestling is entertainment. If people are enjoying what they're watching does anything else matter.

@@jaiplays661 Wrestling is not a fucking art. It's a business first and foremost. That means that a format is needed to get people hooked and interested in matches and pay per view buys. Wrestling is not about how many flips you can do off the top rope

I didn’t like that match but only because I prefer the old school technical wrestling hold for hold. Having one athletic guy vs a different type is fantastic but when you get two beefy boys or two athletic wrestlers it can sometimes be too much. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t appreciate it I just didn’t enjoy it as much.

Tbf to Ricochet, and Will Osprey to an extent, they at least include aspects of more “traditional wrestling” in their matches, like ring psychology. I don’t like their style when it’s just flips for flips sake, it looks phoney and bullshit. Sometimes their matches look like this too but it’s a lot rarer than when other people do it.

Both Ricochet and Ospreay are very good, but I think for me its a stylistic clash that doesn't work. Too much of the one thing in one match never is a good thing, some love it and others not so much. There needs to be a balance between the flashy acrobatics and the genuine wrestling maneuverers you also need to have a tempo you can't just go at 200mph and expect people to be engaged. Bring ups and down with the tempo to keep people engaged so the match isn't a linear experience.

Thank you like don’t get me wrong I love ricochet and he can work. But his and osprey’s match as good looking visually as it was..the reality is imo it wasn’t simulating combat or a struggle it was choreography
