I’ve just watched the first episode of Master of None season 3 and there’s definitely a Joanna Hogg influence on that.

I always think Hoggs work is like Upper-Class Eastenders. That's not a slur.

Hogg actually directed a special for Eastenders before Unrelated- she spent years working on TV dramas, so that's not as big a reach as you might think!

@@Indietrix - Yeah I know. The one thing I like about her work is that it has an air of romanticism about it. Which I think only Shane Meadows comes close to in British Drama. If you are from a working-class background like me you see that is his work, with Hogg it is undeniable for a universal audience.

Zero strained mother relationship. Her mother supports her as she works through the demons she is faced with in her Beau
A strained mother daughter relationship is when the daughter becomes the person who harms herself to escape her mothers judgement …

Thanks for this. I'm unsure though how the guinea fowl scene shows the benefit of non professional casting.

There are no problems, apart from the expectations of the characters.

"In the pivotal scene.... they take minutes to figure out where they're to sit..... and then someone complains about the meal.... then they hope someone else will reaffirm the objection...." And that's apparently the high point of the film.
I just finished 'The Souvenir' and thought aspects of it were good, but overall I'd have to say it's fairly boring, as in it was painful to watch at times and I had to take breaks. I'm sure there are some who will pretend to find multitudes within, but I say the emperor has no clothes.

Am I just ignorant in this matter, or do these movies seem amateurishly filmed?

i get where you're coming from but its done in purpose and beautifully imo

Possibly, but I find it quite charming. It gives the films quite a self-affacing feel, which I think is intentional
