    Hands down the best tutorrial I have seen about this topic, this attention to detail is important, and is often overlooked.
    I would be really inferesed in seeing an alzapua tutorial from you, your technique looks spot on.

    Why am I just now finding this! There's a lot of amazing artists out there and I'm sure their exercises/ teaching styles work for a good amount of people. However, I was beginning to think that flamenco was some kind of secret society and TH-cam is where you guys come to F*** with the rest of the world.
    "Hey guys, today on my channel I told this kid to follow through with his index straight down into the sound hole".
    Thank you for putting that theory to rest for me.

      Thank you for your comment. That's funny - even though I'm sure you are paraphrasing, I have actually seen instruction which basically says what you wrote - "Hey guys, today on my channel I told this kid to follow through with his index straight down into the sound hole" - and I'm always complaining about that type of thing. Best wishes.

    Great advice I think, slow practice with moving the fingers far out is important for building finger exstensors muscles, because if you want to play fast the muscles needed are both (flexors and extensors) and since "gripping" muscles are already much stronger it's important to train the extensors.
    That's said I think maybe the reason some teach muting with minimal motion is to overcome the tension in moving the fingers out, because it forces you to relax the extension faster.
    In my opinion both are useful, but I also think you should start with moving the fingers far out.

    • @EstiloFlamenco
      @EstiloFlamenco  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your interesting and detailed comment. I still believe that muting adds another movement to the process which cannot be done fast - slow practice should imo be done in a way that truly impacts on the fast playing. I think of it like gears - as long as the fingers stay in more or less the same shape, then as you go faster the fingers move relaxed within the distance possible for that speed, like moving to a smaller gear wheel when necessary to go faster (the fingers must remain in the same shape but in a natural and unforced way, the same way that gear wheels are the same shape just different sizes). Thanks for taking the time - and please add to this comment as it is all very interesting. Best wishes.

    How to play picado without nails? Right now I am playing classical guitar around grade 6 level pieces and will also try some flamenco

    • @EstiloFlamenco
      @EstiloFlamenco  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Are you saying you play guitar without nails? I used to bite my nails when very young and started playing without nails but with a different finger position (straighter fingers) than now. Very little nail is needed though for flamenco, especially in the way of playing as I describe in this video - too long nails would add stress to the movement and be almost impossible. Best wishes, and good luck with your studies.
