@@Millicente @MiataBRG I'd go for a top 10 rim brake bikes of all time, new or second-hand. And if I had to buy a new road bike today, I would buy a second hand rim brake mechanical groupset one 100% of the time for any price point under 6.000€. Anything over that would make me perhaps consider the disc brake / electronic groupset offerings of nowadays, but nothing under those price tags.
Look up Romet. Polish brand, they sell in UK as well apparently. I picked up Huragan 1, aluminum frame with beautiful smooth welds, carbon fork, Claris (HT2 cranks), rim brakes. Takes 28mm tires, prefectly capable bike. Paid €480 for it.
This year I switched from Cannondale CAAD 13 105 (mechanical 2x11) to Cannondale SuperSix EVO 3 105 (electronic 2x12). I'll be honest. I don't feel as good on the new better carbon bike as I did on the previous aluminum bike.
Emonda ALR is the king and competes with carbon. If only Specialized would bring back the rim brake Allez with proper rack mounts. Giant Contend is the best rim brake one with internally routes cables.
None of these get close to the Allez S-Works still. One of my favourite bikes in my collection. With Dura Ace 9000, Carbon finishing kit and Fulcrum Racing Quattro carbon wheels, weights in around 7kg (maybe less) and plenty of space for 28mm Corsa tyres. I think 2014 was peak aluminium. But all of these ones here would make a great choice in today’s market.
I have been enjoying my road bike since this june and my choice was very close to edr af, a-105 set carraro 62 race, and it cost me a second hand for 700 euros. weight is 9.5 kgs with bottle cages.
Aluminum A pure metal that's malleable, a good conductor of heat and electricity, and nonmagnetic. However, it's too soft for many industrial uses. Aluminum alloy A combination of aluminum with other metals to create a material with different properties, such as increased strength and durability. 👍
I’m sorry but this video is not for 2025! Alloy bikes are not great these days… so if you want comfort then steel is better or ti. Saying comfort on an alloy bike better than carbon is a lie! Not maybe the endurance ones are slightly more than carbon race bikes but any carbon endurance bike will be more comfy. It’s still alloy at the end of the day and alloy has never been the most comfy. All the other ‘performance’ bikes are 2/3 years old and not up to spec for 2025. Alloy is heavy and less responsive than carbon. You can’t change that no matter how much marketing bs they say. If you want to value then get a Chinese bike. Similar prices and better specs and performance. If you crash then you can get carbon repaired as there’s plenty of places these days to do it. Having a aero bike for £3k is not hard these days. I’d even say unless you are willing to spend £12/15k on a bike you are better off get a Chinese bike built up, you will be able to get it speced to your needs and it’s probably better than any mid tier big western brand alternative! And far cheaper
Let's see a top ten rim brake bikes
I doubt it'd even reach 10 bikes. Definitely not if you limit it to anything past lowest end groupsets
There are 10?

Why ignore CUBE? They have a gorgeous Attain SLX that would fit right in this series.

Забыли про Orbea avant, он тоже заслуживает особого внимания, очень красивый байк.
Is there any with UDH?

The KINESIS looks like a hybrid

Waiting for my Caad 14. 13 is way too long in the tooth
Why would any amateur rider need anything more than an aluminum frame, rim brakes and a 105 group set with 28mm tires?
Because some of us ride on rough roads - and wider tyres are better. Not many rim brakes can allow bigger than 30mm.......
whats the difference between 2024 and 2025 inside the title ... with the content inside the video ... simple nothing
Alloy is not the same as aluminium.
Aluminum

Aluminum alloy
A combination of aluminum with other metals to create a material with different properties, such as increased strength and durability. 👍
