      +Laffenwright why not?..it's your social media accounts. It's for sharing what you like. You shouldn't be judged for buying your kids a lot of gifts, in the same manner someone is judged for posing naked on IG.

    • @thickyvick
      @thickyvick 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** most social media outlets are designed to share with folks you know actually. A comment section, like this forum, is totally different than FB and IG, for example. At any rate, I shouldn't care what anyone had to say about something so trivial as how many gifts are under MY tree, for MY kids. What makes it worse is people would talk just as much crap if there were too few gifts. Smh

    • @thickyvick
      @thickyvick 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Uhhh, yeah. ANd it's fine to end the conversation. But the only people who really have fully public profiles are public figures and celebrities. Normal people have privacy settings. Normal people have jobs and employers, coworkers, and other people who they may not want to see their posts. My page is very private for that reason, can barely search for me. But even those without such strict settings are usually sharing photos and such with the people who follow them. You don't usually sign on to FB and end up on some random strangers page to see their gifts.

      +Michie Oo it's ridiculous but also valid. Some parents cant afford to get their children more than one gift, simply cant afford to. When the kids compare later on, some would wonder why 'santa' got mark a brand new bicycle and a new ipad while Sam got some socks. I would say give small gifts from 'santa' and say the rest is from the parents specifically.

    Oh and Loni IS PREACHING It. Anyone else remember Sex and the City, where Carrie had to buy one of her married friend's another gift for having another baby and then Carrie's shoes got stolen and asked for either the cash or a new pair of shoes? It's really the same thing. Society is structured in a way where single people get left out in situations like this. I may have a partner but I side with Loni and I do the single gift per family thing if I can't afford more, and if they don't like that, well that just saves me the expense of ever buying their ungrateful ass another gift. :)

    my thing people don't even know what are under the wrapping paper. My family wraps up everything including socks. So when you think about if she wraps of clothes, shoes, and toys for three kids. Plus she said those weren't all theirs.
    p.s. what if she don't buy them a lot through the year and Christmas is the time she overflows.

  • @thickyvick

  • @latina7292
    @latina7292 8 ปีที่แล้ว +85

    Those parents have done absolutely nothing wrong. They can purchase their children whatever and however much they want. If those children are spoiled, so what. That family is not obligated to donate anything. I can put myself in the same boat as Freddie's mom. I honestly LOOOOOOOVVVEEEE to give and I have no limits. It's understandable that most families can't do all that for their children but that is not those parents' fault.

  • @CourtneyA.
    @CourtneyA. 8 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    It's funny because on Christmas me and my siblings always got at least 10 or more gifts and now that I'm getting older I don't think that's necessary. One gift per person seems reasonable. I agree with Tamera. If I have kids they're only getting one or two gifts. Christmas is not about presents, it's about Christ, praising him for saving us and helping others the way Jesus would want us to. That means volunteering and going to church to worship.

    the mom was on GMA this morning and said that during the year she doesn't buy them anything n when she sees stuff on sale (eg. a shirt that was $30 reduced to $5 etc. lotions,body wash etc. ) n she said the total for everything was $2000+ . it seems like a lot but who are we to say she can only buy a certain amount. like my parents used to say "Christmas comes but once a year".

    • @fab_floo6737
      @fab_floo6737 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Stephanie Matheson and when you count the amount parents spend on kids towards the year, $2000 is nothing compared to it. A man was having a discussion with his wife the other day at my work place and i overheard him saying that $3000+ on gifts for 2 kids for Christmas is already enough. apparently the kids were asking for more, but the reality is to each his/her own. life is too short

    That's why gifts should be given when the heart moves one to give. It does not have to cost money and should not be saved for a certain day of the year. Love 24/7, 365days/year and show your love in every possible way. You never know, your loved one may not live to see that special day of the year, or that specific occasion.

    The picture didn't offend me and to each his own however my initial reaction was that that's alottttt of gifts in a wasteful sense. I don't want my kids to grow up spoiled, entitled or addicted to consumerism/materialism and I think in America we have become obsessed with things.

      +Jo Jo I agree. So many kids in this generation are becoming too materialistic for example: Teenagers are making their parents pay like 600+ for a pair of yeezy's just because they're the new ''it'' shoes now.

      +Victor Ochoa Did I said it affected in any kind of way, No. I'm just saying in general teenagers are becoming too materialistic, if anybody parents can buy them expensive stuff more power to them. But, once this generation grows up and they're the ones who got to the bills then they're going to realize they shouldn't have made their parents waste so much money on materialistic things just because it was trending.

    I enjoy Christmas quite a bit and try to focus more on the time spent together throughout the season than the gift giving on 2 days of the month. I give every niece and nephew, brother, sister, Dad, one big/requested gift or a whole bunch of great gifts I think they'd enjoy. When you add it up in my family everyone's covered and feels special but not spoiled. Adults should still get gifts, that's why the magic of Christmas is lost on people as they get older, they're excluded from the things that create joy. Go ice skating, decorate your home, give to others selflessly, watch a corny holiday movie and cook with your friends and family it's impossible to not find something to recieve that time of year.

    I'm not sure if this happens with anyone else but in my family the younger kids usually get piles of gifts and the older you got the less gifts you would get. This was because as you get older your tastes change and the gifts you want tend to be more expensive. We recently started the 4 gift challenge where everyone gets 4 gifts. Something you want, something you need, something to wear and something to read. It's truly an amazing thing because not only is it saving money for the adults but it teaches kids to be more appreciative about what they get.

    *ONE* gift Taemera? ONE? I mean, good for her if that's what she wants to do it's her life of course and I respect that. But you know, not all gifts are expensive. My cousin has around 9 gifts under the tree right now and some cost $11 bucks, a few are $20+, and the rest around like smaller stuff around 4-$9. I just think you need to teach your child gratitude, empathy for those who have less, the true meaning of Christmas and the love people show when giving gifts. I don't even like getting gifts, I'm happy with a few dollars from my aunts and uncles. But I *LOVE* buying gifts for my younger cousins, I remember being a kid and I want them to enjoy Christmas.

    I think it depends on the cost of the gift. If it's 1 100+ gift where as someone else gets five cheaper gifts then it makes sense. It's all about what that kid wants tbh. If one kid wants a PS4 and the other wants just clothes, the second kid is gonna have more gifts, even if it costs the same.

    Frankly, I don't see how anyone has the audacity to be offended or even have an opinion about this. This is her life, her children, her money and there you have it! She seemed excited and proud to get her babies gifts for Christmas. Leave it to ignorance to spoil the happiness. I know in my house growing up. Christmas was big for us because we didn't really get all throughout the year either. We got back to school clothes, Christmas was the biggie, birthday, Easter out fit and 4th of July outfit and that was that. We never wanted for anything and we were very happy! I have a 4 year old and she does get throughout the year because I struggled very hard her first 3 years of life and prayed and cried often because I couldn't get her much. HOWEVER, she was ALWAYS happy and had the basic essentials provided. When my career advanced and my coins came up, I began to buy more things for her. As I do this, I am teaching her to be grateful and how to work and earn it as well. My baby girl had a nice Christmas, not a big one but she received the one thing she wanted the most (baby alive doll) with a few bonus gifts. I felt bad for a second because I felt I didn't do enough, but as I tripped over a toy she left in the hall and looked in her well stocked room I knew she was alright. Just like my good friend said "Baby Jesus got 3 gifts, my children are no better than him. They are getting 3 gifts. It's his birthday, not theirs." Anyways, I digress. People need to get out of their feelings about other people's lives and tend to their own lives.

    That's excessive. All those gifts for only 3 kids? They could donate some of those gifts. At the end of the day children are happy with what they get, even if they don't get a lot. Each year the parents will have to top themselves. And the kids might throw a tantrum if they don't get what they want. Talk about pressure.

      +Empressive But, who are we to tell a parent how much money they can spend on their kids? If the parents worked hard all year, saved, and made a conscience decision to give these kids all those gifts then, it's that family's business and not the publics. The court of public opinion is getting out of control with feeling like it can call anyone to task over even the smallest infraction. As long as the parents paid for those gifts and didn't steal them, what business is it of ours?

    Me and my siblings never had lots, at Christmas, Dad and mama made sure we had new clothes, new shoes at Christmas and had a lovely time.. it was special, we are 3 girls and 2 brothers.. We never went anywhere, dad always said it was family time, and it was great, grand pa would come over, he told us lots of stories etc.. We never had presents under the tree, the presents were they clothes we wore... Good times... Now am married, have kids 8,12 and 16 and we do buy them lots of presents but not over the top.. at least 3 or 4 each, whatever else they don't need, we take to Charity.. I think the mama who bought lots of presents for her kids is OK, but she needs to keep it real.. God forbid, she can't afford one time... then what?? At the end of the day.. DON'T SPOIL THEM.. HAPPY NEW YEAR

    I don't even think the mom should've replied to the hatred. I agree with her as long as the kids are well behaved. Simple. ( I hope she donated to old ones to the less fortunate tho ) I hope she also reminds the children its not all about getting but giving AS WELL.

    I have 7 children we use to give our kids 10 gifts a Christmas 5 large and 5 small so that alone was 70 gifts under the tree them you add in the gifts the kidsmade is plus family members you can easily end up with 150 gifts under the tree!! it's not excessive. "Santa" only brings one gift to each kid because I want the kids to know we worked hard to get them these things.

    I totally agree with Loni lol, it really doesn't turn out a fair game for singles, especially when they have to gift for plenty off of one individual's income. I'm also surprised at Tamar's reaction. If she was the type to "count gifts" why does she find it alarming or strange to gift your children evenly at a small dosage. If that's all they know, they won't grow up expecting more or greedily comparing themselves to their siblings.

    hmm I have never thought about this partially because i don't have kids yet & also because I don't see why it's a discussion piece about what you choose to give to anyone. I give from my heart to my family, it could be one it could be more. I guess we will use our own discretion when deciding of what things our kids want to get and every parent gets to make thay choice for themselves.

    Okay so I'm in the middle on this. I do agree that it's her family and her money & I think she can buy as many or as little gifts as she wants. And I have never been one of those overtly sensitive "I get offended by everything" kind of people, because honestly I'm not offended at all by this. BUT I do think that this picture did not need to be posted online. The mother could have easily kept this to themselves. Like what could be the reason for posting this other than wanting to brag, and that's not right either. Just like how the people judging her aren't right. There's some wrong on both sides.

    • @jujubee6030
      @jujubee6030 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's what I was saying!!! Like why did she even post in the first place? To brag on how many presents she bought?!?! She should have known people were going to say something. I mean come on, it's not normal to see that many presents under the tree.

    • @AGEE_95
      @AGEE_95 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jujubee doesn't give them the right to judge. And she can buy as many presents for HER kids with HER money as she wants. No one should care how normal or abnormal it is.

    • @alyrastump4294
      @alyrastump4294 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why does anybody post pictures of their Christmas tree? Because they want to, it's what they do for the holidays, whether they have a boat load of presents under it or not. She wanted to post a Christmas tree picture and she has every right to do so, now very true she did have it coming for those "overly sensitive" people and their rude comments, but I think she handled the situation quite well

    • @imonlyhereforthelaughs
      @imonlyhereforthelaughs 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well like I said, I'm neutral. I'm not saying she's right and I'm not saying the people talking about her are right. I can see the negative on both sides. But to be fair there's a difference between posting a picture of a normal modest Christmas tree with a decent anoint of gifts & the picture that this lady posted. You can't deny that that's a bit excessive. It is what it is. At the end of the day a lot is still a lot and a little is still a little.

    As a hoarderphobe, that photo is of nightmares. Kids get excited about getting a lot of gifts initially, but eventually pick the one or two they really like and forget about the others. Not to mention that anything less than that in future years will be a disappointment. I would've preferred to get a couple of reeeally good ones, quality over quantity.
