My mom was born in October 1940 and this was one of her favorite songs that she remembered on the radio that her grandmother bought records from.. She has now passed in 2021...but her memory will live on forever. I miss you mom like the day is long ...but we will always have the music. Miss Della Marie Freeman for here and loving respects.❤❤❤.
Can hear John R setting this one up... "Haa'Mercy Lawddd! Jesus is coming soon! You're listening to the Sunday Night Gospel Cavalcade right here on WLAC, 1510 on the dial Nashville, Tennessee and no place else but Nashville, Tennessee. The Angelic Gospel Singers here now with a powerful message, 'Touch Me Lord Jesus.'" What memories growing up in the 50s and 60s listening to the music that many other stations refused to play, but made its way North up through Chicago, and on to the Great Lakes, where we listened in Michigan. Gospel Music...one of the best things to come from such an historically troubled world.
If you went to a Primitive Baptist Church like my grandparents did, then you know the piano was the ONLY instrument! You had to know how to sing back in the day and nobody could bring that old-time harmony like The Angelics. Thank you for posting! :-)
I grew up listening to this also and yes, there's just something about these old hymns and music that resonates in your soul!! Especially all of the adversities they lived during that period yet still had a song in their hearts for the Lord!! True testimony! :)
Touch, touch me Lord Jesus With Thy hand of mercy Make each throbbing heartbeat Feel Thy power divine Take my will forever I will doubt Thee never Oh, cleanse, cleanse me dear Saviour Make me wholly Thine Guide, Guide Me Jehovah Through this veil of sorrow I am saved forever Trusting in Thy love Bail me through the current O'er the chilly Jordan Lead, lead dear Master To Thy home above Bail me through the current O'er the chilly Jordan Lead, lead dear Master To Thy home above
I remember this song, “touch me Lord Jesus”. Sunday night as a young child growing up in Bamberg County SC... Listening to WLAC from Nashville Tennessee. #memories
Everyone please keep Margaret Allison in prayer, she is not doing to well and apparently the doctors dont know how much longer she has to go. Either way Gods gonna get the glory!
I remember this old hymn from my grandparents home on Sunday mornings. I was just a child, but delighted in hearing the scratchy records playing... The Angelics were ALWAYS played and sung heartily. Thank you for this lovely recording.
The choir at church sang this when I was a very little girl, and the pianist Mrs Calhoun could hit the same dramatic piano licks as Margaret Allison....just gorgeous, puts u in the unique presence of god...
I remember listening to the gospel hour on my mother's pink radio on Sunday evenings. This was my beloved mother's favorite gospel 🙌 song. Rest in peace: Daddy, Madea, James, Lester, Lacy, and David. We will meet again.
This song brings back so many memories of my childhood. I was scared to death if thunderstorms and my grandmother would sing this and rock me to sleep when a storm was on.
This is some doggone good singing, you hear me? I hear the Senior Choir at my church sounding like alley cats yet and still singing their little hearts out to the utmost Glory of God lol Sang mothers!

Yes I'm been touched by Jesus over 30 years ago! He healed my body, mind, and soul! Thank You Lord Jesus for loving me enough to die, be buried, and then getting up all for me! Now that's Good News!
If I didn't know better; I could have listened with my eyes closed, and easily have thought that it was my mother on the piano; or even myself. Definitely the sound of gospel back in the day in the South.
I started playing for churches when I was I was in high school college and mortuary school and this was one that I had to learn to dodge flying purses, hats and shoes. There was one lady that would run and grab me every time I played this. I buried her last week and her daughter ran and grab me like her mother did 30 years ago.
Margaret Allsion died July 30, 2008 in Philly. She suffered a stroke earlier that year and never recovered. You can google it, I just found out 2day 7/19/2009 that she is dead. ;(

So did I. Check out Dorothy Love Coates' songs.
Touch, touch me Lord Jesus
With Thy hand of mercy
Make each throbbing heartbeat
Feel Thy power divine
Take my will forever
I will doubt Thee never
Oh, cleanse, cleanse me dear Saviour
Make me wholly Thine
Guide, Guide Me Jehovah
Through this veil of sorrow
I am saved forever
Trusting in Thy love
Bail me through the current
O'er the chilly Jordan
Lead, lead dear Master
To Thy home above
Bail me through the current
O'er the chilly Jordan
Lead, lead dear Master
To Thy home above
It's trust stinging thy love
I love these oldies. It brought back memories
