  • In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train driver's view from Verona Porta Nuova to Venice Santa Lucia along the Milan-Venice Railway in 4K/60 frames per second.
    The Milan-Venice railway line is one of the most important railway lines in Italy. It connects the major city of Milan, in Lombardy, with the Adriatic Sea at Venice, in Veneto. The line is state-owned and operated by the state rail infrastructure company, Rete Ferroviaria Italiana which classifies it as a trunk line. The line is electrified at 3,000 volts DC.
    On 13 January 1846, a 2-mile-long (3.2 km) bridge over the Venetian Lagoon between Mestre and Venice was opened, with 222 arches supported on 80,000 larch piles.

    OTTIMO VIDEO. Mi ricorda i viaggi da Torino a Udine di quando ero piccolo; allora c'era anche un treno notturno che partiva da Udine intorno alle 18,00 con delle carrozze dirette e dopo aver fatto manovra a Venezia, si arrivava a Torino la mattina successiva.

    Thank you for refreshing my memories. This is a part of my journey from Venice to Nice in 2004. I stayed in Graz that time and had to travel to Nice for EGU General Assembly. Instead of taking a plane I decided to travel by train. It was great opportunity to visit Venice for the first time in my life. I took the train from Bruck an der Mur to Venice and then changed to the night train from Venice to Nice. Thus I spent about 6 hours in this fantastic city. The route to Nice was via Verona, Milano, San Remo, Ventimiglia... I hope to see the rest of my trip on your channel.

    One question to those who are familiar with the line: on the (sort of) HS line between Padova and Mestre the speed is limited to 200 km/h, but a few times I took Freccia or Italo the speedometer on the screen was showing something like 217 km/h (or maybe even around 220) for some time. Do the speed limits as indicated on the signaling boards not apply to the HS trains?

    • @fredpalmer260
      @fredpalmer260 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The speed limit of the Padova-Mestre is 220 km/h. Maybe the Giruno has a higher limitation.

    • @elperenza
      @elperenza ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The speed limit on that section of line is 220km/h. You can see it on the speed boards at minute 44:19.

    • @gerric.5824
      @gerric.5824 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Between Padova and Mestre there are two parallel lines, a conventional line with some intermediate stops and a maximum speed of 180 km/h, and a high-speed line with no intermediate stops and a maximum speed of 220 km/h. Sometimes it may happen that a train is routed on the "wrong" line, e.g. if there is some traffic perturbation. One may have been routed first on the slow line and have noticed a given maximum speed, then on the fast line and have been surprised by the speed apparently above the limit (especially if in the second case they didn't see the speed limit boards). Whatever the case, on lines equipped with traditional signalling speed limit boards apply to all trains. However, in some curvy lines tilting trains may have a maximum speed limit higher than that indicated on speed limit boards, its value appearing only on the working timetable.

    It has been my line ( Limited to Padua) for 6 years, when i made a bachelor into Padua University. Nice landscape close Lessinian, Berici and Euganean Hills. A few informations: Grisignano di Zocco is a underutilised station, because it was a amajor bifurcation station on Venice-Milan main railway ( the line aside the AV AC High speed line u are crossing) and the military railway Treviso-Ostiglia, now transformed in an environmental bike path, and closed in 1967. The stations from Padua to Venice Mestre in the old line right upon your wiew are in order PONTE DI BRENTA, Busa di Vigonza, Vigonza-Pianiga, Dolo and Mira - Mirano. When u are reaching Venezia Mestre station u will note the Maerne Overpass in green colour which overpass main line. This is part of the new line Venice Trento, which historic segment a.k.a Linea dei Bivi, that was part of Venice Belt Line, has beeen dismissed and they built this overpass. Now all the Venice Station are going on a refurbishment into platforms and ACEII signalising systems. Thank u for your efforts senhor!

      @@RailRelaxation I'm pretty sure it will be against the law, the same way a company like flixbus isn't allowed to make routes inside Switzerland. But as you see, the government can do whatever they want. A transportation in a foreign country is pretty much forbidden. But nobody says something against it. Don't get me wrong,from Zurich to Verona won't be a problem but from there to Venice is surely against the law. But it's not your fault! Thanks again for your infos. Well done video!

    Beh, se non fosse per il Ponte della Libertà il viaggio sarebbe stato anche abbastanza monotono, oltretutto la linea è oberata di cantieri e reti rosse nel tratto tra Verona e Vicenza.
    Video interessante, comunque. Il cielo con le nuvole bianche dona poesia alle inquadrature.

    A question, why do Italian trains use the left track, as in Britain ,unlike other EU countries who use the right track?

    • @damirko8644
      @damirko8644 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The left side of the railway is in: Sweden, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, I think also in Portugal, and on two tracks in Austria. There is no need to say anything special about the UK and Ireland.
      A legacy from the early days of double track railway construction towards construction in England.
      Other European countries drive on the right side on their railways.

      Because many countries hired British engineers to plan and build their first major railways (Britain being a few years ahead of the rest in developing railways and having a core group of experienced engineers), they naturally tended to follow their common practice and design for left-hand running. Once you've started that way, it makes sense to carry on throughout the country and thus several European countries run on the left (France, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Sweden etc) It's no great hassle to switch sides at a border as, in most cases, there will be a border station and, unlike road traffic, trains are under strict control.
      It wasn't until the turn of the 20th Century, with the rapid growth of motorised road transport, that there was a need to establish a rule for road traffic. Prior to that, especially in cities, it was a free for all! You can often see the chaos in old 19th Century photographs. Continental Europe went for right-hand rule whereas Britain and Ireland followed the local railway practice of left-hand. Being on islands, separated from the continental landmass, this was of no consequence. Interestingly, Japan did the same.
