Would be sweet if they would connect to the nest guard and would act as a speaker so if you were upstairs and the front door opened it would say “front door opened” over the smoke detector
Integrate it with IFTTT so that when your smoke alarm goes off it switches all your smart sockets off (or selected ones) and turns all of your lights on.
Might want to mention that Nest Protect will not work with 3rd wire (wired interconnect) on other detectors. The function of this is so all detectors in the home are wired together, so that if one goes off, they all go off. Nest Protect does not support this, unless all your detectors are Nest Protect. Their claim is that wireless is "better". For $120, that seems pretty lame of Nest, because of course they want you to buy multiple Nest Protects, they have no motivation to have them work with other less expensive detectors.
Christopher Rizzo I was disappointed to learn about that, too. I want the old school smoke detectors, too. I know Ring offers a sound detector, so I hope Google will offer that functionality somewhere. Leeo may be an option, too.
I will be so grateful if you could turn off your intent router and reconnect it after about 15 minutes and check if it gets reconnect after internet connection comes back, my Nest Indoor Cam does not reconnect in this scenario unless I restart it manually
I have lost my internet connection many times (Spectrum is not the best) since I have installed the Nest Protect and it has always reconnect to the network with no problems. Try setting up your Nest cam with a static IP. In your router you should be able to assign the Nest Cams mac address to a static IP. It might help.
Mike's Likes really appreciating your kind and quick reply, did you lost your connection for more than 10 or 15 minutes? As when I loose the connection for less than that the cam can connect but for more than 15 minutes or never reconnect, and thank you for your solution for the cam, I will try it soon.
@@MikesLikes , and ALWAYS Nest Protect get reconnected soon the connection comes back? or will take time to reconnect or maybe once or more it did not reconnect unless you manually restart or wait for a long time ???
My question is why you thought it would set off all the others in the house if you tested it. Didn’t you just pull out the tab and NOT set it up yet? Hmm
I bought 3 of them. I had already opened and installed another one before I made this video to figure out how it works. When you run a test it will make all of them go off one at a time.
I got them from my local Lowes it was on clearance. I went to other Lowes in my area trying to find the same deal but they were all full price. I think I just got lucky.

I have two thermostats, 7 cameras, one door lock, and two doorbell/cameras. All work perfectly. Bought one at a time till I was convinced of reliability and quality. Great Products. If you are an HVAC tech....I suspect not a very good one.
*Easy setup **do7.pl/smoke2** as long as you don't get it stuck in a language you can't speak.*

Yeah I thought that be cool too or if the alarm goes off the smoke alarm does too.
Or as a motion sensor
Yep should have that. Would be cool.
All smoke detectors/CO detectors only last for about 10 years.

they are also carbon monoxide detectors to
Google offers security monitoring with the Nest Secure. They need to pair that with smoke detector monitoring with the Nest Protect!!!

It's all fun and games until a hacker prevents them from going off when there is a *real* fire.
That's 12 bucks a year for peace of mind sign me up!
Did I miss something? What's $12.00 per year?
120 bucks for the unit at full price. Replaced every 10 years that would be about 12 bucks a year broken down. That's what they meant
Home or away you know if an alarm is set. That is sorta OK is it not?

The drop times always change but it can be as much as an hour. Luckily its been better but for awhile it was almost every day.

Sometimes it comes back right away other times is takes a few minutes but I have never had to manually restart them.
You have to have the app? Can we install and leave it?
You need the app to connect them to your Wi-Fi network and they need to be on your network in order to work together as one system.

Wow
$52 each! Thats a smoking deal. I wouldn’t care about the -3 years. I’ve held off because $100 each is crazy.
Justsome Randomdude good one that’s a smoking deal
Know before you guy: Nest Protect does NOT work with Google Home. This is so fucking ridiculous. They're the same company.
Mine are 20 years and still working.
I think it is outrageous that it is in Spanish and not French.
The Sounds of the Suburbs it has French as well.
Do yourself a favor and don’t get a Nest thermostat.
Commercial HVAC tech.
Oh Really, why is that?
Agree I took mine done after 6 months
Sold my Nests. Replaced with Ecobee. Ecobee > Nest.
