I am Korean and was a teenager in 90s. Seo taiji and Boys were called "culture president" (in literal translation) back in the day. So there is kind of similarity between Seo Taiji and Boys and BTS. And YG, CEO of YG ent which is one of big3, himself was a member of Seo Taiji and boys. And this song actually brought a lot of teenagers home who run away from home and living kind of street life. Lyrics are about, as you might guess, teenagers you should come back home. They didn't care about what their parents said but cared about what Seo taiji said. It was that big and that influential. Of course BTS have similar power, if not bigger. And Seo Taiji wanted BTS to work with him cause obviously he knew BTS' positive influence.
Thank you for mentioning this. Didn't Seo Taiji and Boys kind of start the kpop craze in the 90s? I read that somewhere. I often hear it's Big Bang. I grew up on hip hop and rap in the US during the 90s. It's great to see fellow my Asians like Epik High, Big Bang and BTS pay homage to American rappers, while finding their own success in these genres, first in Asia, and now globally.
C M Yes. They did. Seo taiji and boys started the craze in Korea most definitely. Seeing all the things from Seo taiji to BTS, it gives me chills. I have seen all the growth and how much everyone got better in terms of pretty much everything. Not just BTS but Kpop industry itself inspires me. If you tirelessly put your time and effort, doing it long enough, even when other people are laughing at you(not only BTS but K pop also got so much hate with no apparent reasons as you might know), you can achieve something even unimaginable. All the reaction videos and all the love people showing all around the world are something you would never imagine back then. I am happy to see all the success and results they've got but I am even happier to see that they are growing, getting better and never stop.
And BTS learned " dul- sen BANG 👇 TAN Ahnyeonghaseyo bangtan sonyeondan!!" Seo taiji taught them how to do it and. Bunch of other kpop groups REALLY wanted To be like them

I think the mic problem also happened on another Mic Drop performance. Suga looked annoyed. Maybe during Dick Clark's New Year's countdown? Josh, nothing wrong with anybody singing along. But did you say Namjoon looked so tough in the Come Back Home performance? That's the rapper persona and the tone of the song. He started out as an underground rapper. He can't sound like he's singing a love song. Lol!

There's an MV for Come Back Home. It's cinematic and BTS isn't actually in the MV. It's a cover and tribute to Seo Taiji (I may have spelled his name wrong) who is like the father/creator of Kpop and he basically passed his torch to BTS as his successors.

Come Back Home is great! It's a great cover by BTS, the original song it's from Seo Taiji who is known like "The Father of Kpop", he's a BIG artist in Korea and he has recognized BTS before. They even performed together... it's very significant because they're two legends for two generations performing together. You can watch their practice video and see the reactions of the boys 😂
Actually, it isn't a cover, it's a remake of the song, BTS changed some of the lyrics on the verses :)
I haven't watched the whole vid yet but seeing your excitement to Jin starting off Come back home just made me giggle and smile.. I was bouncing in my seat. Anyway a little ARMY info for you - When come back home was released ARMYs argued with one another over who was hitting those high notes in the beginning. Lots of ARMYs thought it was Jimin, some thought Jungkook but most of them thought Jimin. However a lot of us insisted it was Jin, we were called morons and 'not real ARMYs' for thinking and saying it was Jin. Then this was released and we were proved right. ARMYs were shocked at not just Jin's high notes here but at how he was finally front and center. It made us very happy to see him shining. Your instant reaction to that made me want to pause the vid and comment this little rant. And now I'll watch the rest of the vid and most likely comment again, sorry. lol.
I REMEMBER THAT. I remember insisting it was Jin because it literally just didn’t sound like any of the other member’s voices but only like 3 people agreed with me. Everyone else sent me nasty comments 😂

They performed several songs together, which was GREAT, and you can find their behind story on VLive :) (I just sent you a DM with URLs to see the performances) Since I was (and am still) a big fan of Seo Taiji, I am so glad that BTS, another legendary group, covered his song and performed together :) I'm now looking forward to seeing Run BTS ep20(really fun episode) tonight💜💜💜

Come Back Home is a cover of Seo Taiji's song with the same title. Seo Taiji is the one who brought western mainstream into the Korean mainstream, thus being credited with the birth of Kpop, although keep in mind that back then, kpop was a movement for the youth (spreading important messages in favor of the youth and being against their oppression), kpop was NOT an industry. It became the manufactured industry it is today when various agencies saw Seo Taiji's success and put their hands on the idea Seo Taiji developed (bringing the western mainstream to Korea, not the part about being the voice of the youth), packaging it into something cookie cutter and profitable, and emplementing the manufactured idol system.
Despite debuting in the kpop industry, BTS detached themselves from the beginning, and even more so while growing. They were the first newer gen group to be loyal to the message that Seo Taiji was spreading back in the 90's so when he celebrated his aniversary, he chose BTS and invited them to perform with him, which was a great honor and exposed BTS further to the older Korean generations.

Comeback Home is an original song of Seo Taiji. "Come Back Home" is remake song by Bangtan, They collaborated with Taiji for his special project 25th anniversary. Actually they performed together. You guys should react to it, there's a lot of clips and they wore amazing outfits.
