ADVENTURE VANS built by STORYTELLER OVERLAND (STO) are very popular. Build on the Sprinter 4x4 chassis, the quality and innovation are what makes STO a leader in the off-road camper van segment.
However, there are THREE RV ELEMENTS for you to CAREFULLY CONSIDER before BUYING a STO rig:
    Small fridge and freezer
    Undersized moveable table
    2.6 gallon Porta-Potty (not a real toilet)
You will see comparisons of those CRITICAL RV SYSTEMS to my Winnebago Travato 59G.
Thinking carefully how the floor plan enable WHY you want to RV is very important to avoid costly buyers remorse, in terms of time and money.
HOW IMPORTANT to your RV EXPERIENCE IS a:
    Functional TOILET in your van
    Large permanent TABLE
    Very large FRIDGE & FREEZER?

Mini FRIDGE with freezer by Galanz, 27 cu ft, $162, amzn.to/3EroxW0

What must you have and are willing to give up to have the best possible RV van experience? Real fridge/freezer, real table, and real toilet were non-negotiable for me. What about you?! In-Person events posted on www.GoSmallLiveLarge.com. Thx for watching!

Right now it's all I can do. I'll have to rough it a little longer. The minivan is will hopefully be less roughing than a tent. The HOA rules need to change. I'm going to try this summer. I can't move just yet. Just saw a video on a new Coachman Cross Trail B+. I think it's better than the EKKO. That may be an option for me in the future.

Yes Storyteller wouldn't be good for full-timing. Good for weekenders & trippers. 4x4 is the only I like about it for off-grid. Expensive van camper.

I totally agree, I need a bigger fridge/freezer and a bathroom is a must. I also love your seats with the table. I do love the layout for the Travato that you have but for me it is still small storage wise for me.

Over the past 3 years, I've watched literally, hundreds of videos on vans, van life, and RVs. Your suggested "test run" is one the best general advice/guidance I've seen. Well done, Scott!
RV manufacturers have only recently started to bring some of the innovative floorpans that have been available in Europe here to America. That's a good thing, but choice requires thoughtful assessment of needs in order to prevent regret.

Hey Scott, good topic. I have many thoughts. I might be one of the rare people that have spent significant time in both, so I figured I’d chime in. First off, all class B’s have upsides/downsides, and we have to figure out what’s best for us and our needs. This is more difficult than people imagine.
1). For me, the Travato felt too closed off. I would love that jump seat if it wasn’t so tight and uncomfortable. Someone could make a million dollars if they could figure out a system that rotates it 90 degrees. Like a couch facing out the slider. The groove lounge in the ST does just that.. and it’s literally capable of transitioning to a comfy bed.
2). The Sprinter (144 wheel base) is literally 18 inches shorter, yet feels much more open than the Travato. In addition, I was able to have greater access to storage with the ST garage. In fact, the rear bed converting to a table (for me) was a real game changer. So much space to work.
3). The ST legitimately sleeps 3 people (a couple and a third person).. or sleeps two friends very comfortably, and not cramped next to each other. This was not my experience, or anyone else’s in G Travato.
4). WATER.. the ST water storage, while just slightly above the Travato, enables users to save fresh water because They’re flushing in a black tank. But alas, for many people, it’s all about the “wet bath “. This seems to be a deal breaker with so many people. Believe me , I get it. But dumping a black tank also sucks . Let’s not just conveniently leave that out. Moreover, with only a grey tank to dump, you get to go much longer between dump stations. Not a biggie, but people need to acknowledge that. After months in various class Bs and C’s, is actually spend more money on a operable toilet or composting toilet. I know, crazy… right?? But for me, it’s because I’m not a weekender. Also, the shower in the ST in the roomiest shower I’ve ever experienced in a class B. Elbow room for days because there’s not walls closing you in.
4). We are at the point where we must acknowledge that this is a apples to oranges comparison. People that buy a luxury sedan have different needs than people buying a 4 wheel drive pickup. Mountain roads at 7-8,000 foot elevation in the middle of a snowstorm , forest/logging trails in the middle of monsoon season, etc.. these are places that you just aren’t taking a Travato (for the most part ). BUT, this is a reason why a ST might be a better purchase for sone folks.
5). Last but not least… build quality. I understand that this isn’t part of the scope of this posting . But it’s something that must at least be acknowledged. I truly believe it’s why we’ve seen so many high profile “van life” full timers make the transition to the ST.
By the way, the small fridge does suck. In fact, it’s the same small fridge that it’s in the KL Travato. But with great insulation (better power conservatio), and the same awesome Volta system , you can pack a second massive 12 volt fridge on the floor of the ST garage, and never worry about energy needs. what’s my point?? There’s no perfect class B. Everything is a damn trade off . But it’s important to figure out what’s best for you.
Merry Christmas, brother. Happy new year .

    • @nwester4232
      @nwester4232 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Just a small correction here…the fridge in the ST is not the same as the fridge in the Travato KL. The KL fridge is significantly larger.

    • @cwheremonster8870
      @cwheremonster8870 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I appreciate the correction. The K is just so much smaller than the G, they all start looking the same (dorm style). Man, I do love the G fridge size. If you’re ever bored, take a look at that Coachman Nova C fridge size . It’s pretty darn amazing . Everything is truly a trade off in class C’s. If you love open light and windows, well… you’ve just garunteed everything in the coach will be under counter tops. Which equals smaller fridges. It’s maddening. Thanks again .

    • @nwester4232
      @nwester4232 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@cwheremonster8870 yes, that is definitely the trade off in the K floor plan. It’s hard to find perfection with such limited space. I was hell bent on getting the G floor plan on paper, but when I went to look at them in person, and spent time hanging out in them picturing how I’d use it, the K won me over. Would still have loved to have the G fridge in there somehow!

Nice video, Scott! Everyone's needs are so different, and it's great that there are so many different vans out there. We've spent a year living full-time in a Winnebago Travato KL and a year full-time in a Storyteller Overland, which is probably something that most people can't say.
We actually found a lot more living space and working space in a Storyteller Overland. Even though it's shorter, it has a heck of a lot more useable living space for us- we have a giant rear work desk where we both can actually side by side to share a meal, another work space with the front lagun table, and it can sleep 3 people comfortably (two separate beds). We also have a huge roof-top lounge to enjoy. I think the record so far is over 20 people partying in one Storyteller! lol
Regarding the bathroom situation- we actually like our bathroom in the Storyteller more than the bathroom in the Travato, but it really depends on how you roll. We HATED dumping our black tank, and living in it full time, the cost and inconvenience of dumping a black tank at dump sites really adds up. It smelled, it broke, and it just wasn't pleasant at all. The 2.6 gallon portable toilet in the Storyteller works just fine for us, and with the halo shower system you can deploy it and get some privacy. Is it a dedicated wet bath? Absolutely not. If you need a dedicated wet bath, then the Storyteller is 100% not your van. BUT, I will say we thought we couldn't live without a dedicated wet bath, and now we love our Storyteller Overland's shower and toilet- it's so nice to be able to store them away and not have it taking up valuable living space in a van. And again, in the Storyteller Paul and I can make use of the entire van all the time, and in our Travato we were really only making use of half the van.
And the fridge works just fine for us- though it wasn't too different from the fridge in our Travato. Functionally it fits all we need (and when we need more, we pull up the grocery store and restock). You can also sit in the groove lounge while you access the fridge so you don't have to squat down or get outside to access the fridge. And Storyteller uses an isotherm fridge whereas Travato uses dometic (and there's a big difference in quality there). We were constantly having to defrost our dometic fridge in our Travato, and haven't had the same issue in our Storyteller.
Honestly though, the biggest difference is the build quality. The build quality and thoughtful design of the Storyteller was night and day compared to our experience in our Travato. Also, we personally don't like staying in campsites- we like getting out into rugged terrain and getting off pavement and off-grid which is what the Storyteller was designed for. The Travato on the other hand was very limiting for us in this regard (especially the ground clearance- why did Winnebago put the Volta batteries underneath the van?!? lol).
This is also reflected in the community itself- I think the Storyteller community on the whole is a little bit more about using the van as a true adventure vehicle (and with meet-ups and off-pavement adventures on a monthly basis there are a ton of opportunities for fun!). The most important thing though isn't what van you're in, it's the adventures you take in it. Looking forward to catching up in Tampa!

I was ready to defend STO, using the ultimate weapon that usually defeats all critics: the Volta system.
But your travato has the Volta system, plus the commodities of a regular motorhome.... The best of both worlds.
You left me speechless, you have your mouth filled with common sense and objective, solid points.
No one had before put such a stronger case against the critical weaknesses of the storyteller vans.
Bravo Scott!, you did what defines geniality: to make look like obvious something no one ever noticed (or mentioned with solid arguments) before.
Always loving your interesting points of view displayed rationally and in a fun, clear way.

Hi Scott, I'm with you on this one! I do not regret choosing to buy my 2022GL a single day over the Storyteller! For the same reasons...the only regret I have is not being able to find a 2021GL NP so I can enjoy the same lounge area and the extra power pack on the Volta system. But I still think my Travato is still head and shoulders above the competition for what I want in a B class RV. Once again, nice work! Happy Trails VanBro!

I really like the video... thank you for posting. I am a former Revel owner and current STO Beast ower and see the Travato in a different 'class' than what the STO/REVEL are intended for... targeted audiences and such. If you're looking at a Travato type Class B then the Revel/STO should not even be in consideration IMO. That said, I don't 'live' out of my STO (or Revel for that matter)... 2-3 weeks at the most and the fridge/features of the Revel/STO were more than suitable for our needs. Comfortable, efficient, versatile, and capable all at the same time. Last point, we BLM quite a bit and just completed a Big Bend trip this past week, and staying off-grid the entire time with the Volta system was truly a special experience. Thank you again for the video and the Travato looks super comfy!

@@gosmall.livelarge No offense intended with this reply Scott, but you don't spend much time camping in the woods do you? Have you ever gone backpacking? Backpackers staying overnight in primitive locations have no choice but to poop in "cat holes" they dig in the ground or pack it out with them (yuk!). I do think the three questions you raise about features in campervans are valid for potential RV buyers. But realize that there's a big difference between primitive camping in the backcountry and "glamping" in expensive RVs. Dickering over whether a van has a bathroom+black tank versus a fixed cassette toilet versus a portable cassette toilet is just much ado about nothing. The country and its nature is why people go camping. The vehicle is just a tool to take us there.

This video was perfectly timed for us. We have had a storyteller on the Ford transit chassis on order. My wife watched this last night and this morning we had an honest discussion about the bathroom. We are both older women ... and we decided that we have always loved the Travato GL ... so we took a spontaneous trip to our nearest RV dealership. They had a 2022 gl on the lot with a bike rack and the exact interior we liked. We paid the down-payment and will pick it up in 2 weeks .... and someone who is waiting for a STO LT will be very happy to move up in line! Thanks, Scott!

Entertaining to say the least, Scott! I was howling while I was doing…well…#2 in my Storyteller!! True story, lol!!
So here’s the good news! I’ve owned a Travato G for one year and a Travato KL for two years. I’ve owned my Storyteller for a little over a year.
Here’s what I can tell you. There is no perfect van, that’s for sure! Trade-offs and compromises are always lurking around each and every corner.
With that said, the biggest difference between Winnebago and Storyteller is (without question) build quality. There is a distinct correlation between money spent and true quality in my Storyteller. They are not expensive, they are outrageously over-the-top crazy expensive…but…you get what you pay for. There’s a reason why there’s a two year wait for a Storyteller. They take a little extra time in building a superior product. Try hanging on an overhead cabinet in a Winnebago. That’s the difference.
What amazes me most is what we, as consumers, accept as a quality product in the RV industry. Some of these rigs are already falling apart on the dealerships lots. Completely unacceptable and why I decided to take the plunge with my purchase of a Storyteller.
I have most of the Canyon Adventure stuff in mine so my garage is outfitted with the flip up seats and storage under the bed/table. It’s massive!
I’m two people at most in my van so the fridge has never been an issue for me. Like all experienced RV’ers, you learn how to drive efficiencies into your day to day. That also goes with how best to pack a refrigerator. Lastly, if given a choice, I prefer fresh food every few days if possible. The fact that I can zip around quite easily in a 19 foot van also makes it easier to hit up the local farmers market/Whole Foods.
Lastly…the bathroom… or lack there of!
I don’t live in my van. I might take it out more than three days in a row a few times a year. With that said, I’m always in it. It could actually be my primary driver. It’s not, but it could be. The new Sprinter chassis is ridiculous. Again, you get what you pay for.
I have a rule in all of my vans. Pee only…and only pee in the toilet if it’s an emergency. I pee in a widemouth bottle with lid. Why? Because I can…and if I don’t have to dump my black tanks, then I don’t have to dump them. I also carry a Cleanwaste suitcase toilet in all of my vans. I use it internally if I’m alone and if I’m Boondocking, I just throw a quick pop-up tent next to my van and that’s where the business gets done. I guess I’m just lucky in the fact that I’ve never had an emergency in all the years I’ve been RV’ing? Perhaps it’s my diet, lol!
The shower, in my opinion, is awesome! For a 19 foot van, it’s massive. It has no walls.
In the end, there’s no right or wrong answer. It goes back to what’s best for the buyer… but if you’re number one criteria is quality and in my opinion it should be high on your list, there are very few RV manufacturers that are breathing the same air as Storyteller.

Forgot to mention that Winnebago dealers can sell class Bs for whatever price they want… Storyteller has fixed pricing across the dealer network for each particular year/model. No one pays 20K more than someone else for a new STO.

Had the Travato and sold it within a year. Reason? The Volta battery box was just a few inches from the ground. I measured it and without my lift kit, a critical component is only three (3) inches off the ground! Your buddy Kevin sold his for the same reason! One of the best-selling points (Volta is king) is inherently misdesigned. I would rather poop on the main street during a parade than break that box open going down a trail with low clearance than suffer damage to the precious lithium batteries. Thank you.

Great advice, Scott. We have the Travato KL and the one thing we miss is a permanent table and bench seat. We made our own single post table for the K but are sitting on the edge of our bed to eat. We use the bathroom all the time and find it so convenient to not use public RR especially firing Covid. I could never see having a RV with a porta potty or even a cassette toilet. Agree with you 100%. This has real comedic value in spots - especially the bathroom stuff. HOWEVER, you make outstanding points. STO's are great if it is a quick few day kind of trip. I can't imagine that the bathroom thing would work for me much more than a few days. The tiny fridge really isn't going hold any quantity of quality foods - ie fresh fruit and vegetables and the like. Great for beer. And to have to wrap myself in that shower curtain would probably drive me nuts. Plus, not being a smaller person, I need the space.

Fridge: we have friends that own a class B with a fridge that is too small and have to carry a second electric cooler; they initially tried to convinced themselves it was big enough but...no....they now have a cooler that is taking valuable space in a class B...
I'm in the process of having one built or buying one...
Private bathroom and shower: this is not negotiable for my wife and me but for the toilet, I was thinking about a cassette toilet simply not to have a black tank as I hate going to dump stations...but now you have me think about it...

I know this is older but have been doing research on class B and just found it. Started looking at revel and now kind of set on Beast Mode. I like the idea of comparing vehicles but this isn’t apples to apples. I think people buy a STO 4x4 for different reasons than buying a 2x4, basically to go where you can’t. Two wheel drive is for parking at rv parks next to the diesel pushers, 4x4 for getting out in the middle of nowhere.
I’m a long haul trucker, been living in my truck for almost 5 years. Maybe take a total of two weeks off a year. Dorm fridge? My life. Small table? 1.5 foot by 1.5 foot. Toilet? #1 in bottles #2 in truck stops but if I’m desperate in a trash bag. Lol. So a little toilet will be a throne to me. But I’m single. The little toilet in the STO is fine. I spend 5 min on the toilet a day doing #2, 10 min on a rough day. Shit or get off the pot.
Table size? Who cares, the reason I’m getting a van is to go off and be by myself.
Fridge? I plan on getting one of those 12v ice chests that have a freezer.
Friends and family say “you won’t be happy in such a small space.” Umm after living in a semi truck that small space is a mansion to me. What I won’t be happy with is living in the same place for more than a month around so many people.
Then there is appearance. It isn’t everything but come on, beast mode/stealth mode vs Travato? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. Some just behold wrong.
The moral of this long story is to each their own and don’t compare a mass produced 2 wheel drive to a more niche 4x4. I understand you may have been attempting to say to each their own, but it came off somewhat different to me.
Ok I got a test for you guys, rent a travato for a few days and take it to Moab, run some of the off camber trails. Some of the muddy ones, steep climbs, just to make sure you will be happy getting stuck.

Great points to consider. It is all about how you are going to use the van. I think someone who is going to be using it full-time has different needs than someone using it part time. Like setting up a table each day depends on if you are spending more time inside the van or outside the van and if you are working on the road. If you are doing this part time then it is a shorter term annoyance than if you are living in it full-time. Interesting advice on how to test this out if you are researching a van before you buy. As always you are giving people some helpful things to consider so they can make wise choices.

I hear what you are saying; however, you always have to consider "why" the person would consider such a van. This is why I am considering the storyteller. I have two businesses, and they both include traveling. I'm a mobile massage therapist, so I travel to clients' homes, offices, hotel rooms, and sometimes events. I didn't realize that most people would rather come to me in my area, so I have to have a place for them to come.
The garage area can accommodate my massage table and the bed and lounger. My second business is expediting commercial freight. I can only carry one pallet rather than the standard two pallets, but that's all a pick-up truck can take, and mine is covered. I have to find a way to combine both of my businesses. I'm a pleasure way Plateau, FL or Leisure travel Unity RL type girl. I wouldn't say I like these types of vans.
But I am a practical person too. When I started looking into Van Expedited commercial freight over the road, I quickly realized there was nowhere to sleep, eat or use the bathroom. I have my commercial driver's license but don't want to drive a semi. I won't have to meet the same requirements with any vehicle under 10,000. The semi-studio is very pricey, but people buy them all the time.

MB service is difficult and not timely to have done at present. At this price point, when a breakdown occurs that strands a customer, STO should send out a tech but they don’t. Yes, you can get to more rugged places, but it’s still a tall narrow top heavy camper van, and all your crap will be rattling and flying around if you’re on a rough road. If the primary goal is to get to remote spots, a nice 4WD truck with a truck camper would provide more comfort and versatility for less $ IMO.

After giving this more thought, something occurred to me: the toilet issue is the biggest issue for many when it comes to the STO. I don’t own the STO, but did approximately 4 weeks in one this past late summer (also have a Stealth on order)… the issue isn’t having a black tank (or not). Sure it’s a bonus not having the added constriction of the black tank. The issue for most of us (myself included) is the lack of a true cassette in the STO. I never thought I’d like a cassette until I really gave it a go. Now If giving the option, the first thing I’d do with most class B’s is get rid of the black tank, and convert a toilet to cassette or compost.
Like most people, I’m not doing a 100% of my business in the rig wet bath, anyway. What happens (to me) is when I’m boondocking, or on the road for long stretches, I’m trying my best to use outside facilities (gas stations/restaurants , gyms, etc..). We often do this because 10-12 gallon black ranks are so darn small. So one of the huge upsides of the STO (no black tank) is negated by having to lug around a portable toilet . If it was a true cassette it would be awesome . Like the best of both worlds. Better odor manager than true wet flush toilets, as well as portables. But alas, those compromises we keep talking about. Sorry… I’m rambling.. I will see myself out.

Probably depends on where you want to go, too. Your friends Chad and Paul are certainly happy with their Overlander -and even upgraded from a 2021 to a 2022. But they like to go offroad. I think that’s where it shines. Not that you can’t do that in a Travato. Nick Riebe took his Travato K all the way up the Dempster Highway to the Arctic Ocean. (I think it’s something like 500 miles of dirt road!) But that’s fairly daring. And then he downgraded to the Solis Pocket with similar features and layout to the Overlander, but a whole lot more stripped down.

Although not having a black tank is temping, and actually dumping many of the port-a-potties is easier than emptying a black tank- I’m NOT going to stow and drag out the potty
Having to employ emergency bag collection once with full tanks-I can honestly say
I CAN but prefer NOT to poop in my living area!

Travato and STO are not comparable Class B's. They really are two different platforms targeting two different buyers. Adventure Van vs a regular Class B. A Revel vs STO may have been a better comparison here. We own a Revel and granted the fridge is much smaller, with a simple Yeti cooler added to our van, we have more fridge space and can last 7-8 days easy. Small compromise for some of the awesome spots we go deep into the forest. Cassette toilets are also much easier to deal with than black tanks. Having owned both, I couldn't go back to a black tank.

The off road rv industry has really become expensive and rediculous in my mind. If you really want to experience nature, drive to a trail head and hike in or backpack. Let wild animals live with some peace with the little wild space we've left for them. A less expensive 4×4 can get you to rougher trail heads. If you're going to rough it , then truly rough it.

Thanks for your video Scott! I think the frig idea could be done by taking the measurements of the STO frig and then using some painters tape to mark out the dimensions in the home frig to use in mimicking the space for trial.
like the idea of using a cheap TV table with an attached top the same dimensions as in a STO.
We looked at and drove Travatos. Having had a VW euro van camper for 10 years , we were used to small spaces, smaller frig and no inside toilet.
We liked how the Promasters drove on the highway but not the ground clearance or how they go on some of the rougher forest roads and softer or muddy ground.(Same observations about our old Eurovan too)
We drove and rented other class B camper vans including Mercedes 170s, 144s-Revel and for our priorities and comfort levels just like the STO vans the best. We have a couple of big dogs that fit in the more open floor plan better ,like the slightly shorter length and the improved ability on soft/rougher ground
Your van has similar battery power as the STO vans but most Travato don't i believe. That is also a consideration for pet owners wanting to run A/C when taking some summer hikes on trails in national parks where dogs can't go.
I have enjoyed following your adventures and experiences with camper vans.

I'd get a Travato over a ST. Some people will want to use it as a road tripper at the same time a fixed shower and bathroom just puts my mind and especially my wifes mind at ease.

"You have to see it, smell it, talk to it." I'm with you brother. I had a porta-potty on my sailboat. I'd rather dump the sewer tank on my RV 20 times--heck, a hundred times--rather than empty that porta pottie one more time.

Hi Scott. Difficult question. Pros and cons. The bathroom is the big negative on the Storyteller IMO and the price. I love the fact the storyteller is 4x4 though, killer solar system and does not rattle as much (better quality build), but it’s missing those key features you point out. It would be nice if the Storyteller had the bathroom and table you highlight in your rig.

Good points Scott, and I’m glad you took it on. I too have a $5k deposit on a STO, however I’m thinking I will cancel, not because of the fridge or the table, but because of the potty. You brought that home for me. Is the Travato toilet different from the Revel? I decided against the Revel because of quality issues and Mercedes service horror stories. Maybe I’ll have to re-think the whole process. Thanks for your input Scott!

thanks for your note John. That was kind of the purpose of the video with I have people carefully think through three critical van systems that you use on a daily basis and does that van provide your needs. REVEL has a cassette styles a little bit bigger and it’s a toilet in a room so that is OK for Most

I recommend watching We are the Russo's TH-cam channel as they add additional stuff including a chest refrigerator in order to make the Storyteller van usable. At $155k plus it should be ready to go in my opinion. I think I would search out a custom builder to build out a 4X4 van for much much less with a big refrigerator and toilet room. Happy New Year.

  • @Elgin2Strathmann
    @Elgin2Strathmann 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I do hope anybody watching this video realizes that this is personal preference regarding only three aspects of the vans. Regarding the bathroom it does have a shower but if you ever step into a class B shower you’ll find that you can barely move your arms while in there. The Storyteller has a drop-down shower with a big curtain that gives you plenty of room and then when you’re done you can store it away so that area is not closed in but a big open space. A cassette toilet is not the only option for the storyteller. You can use dry flush, composting toilet and other options, all of which allow you to “dump” anywhere, such as a pit toilet a regular restroom and more. The Travato has a nice layout and is much more on the RV/Campground type of feel, whereas the Storyteller is an adventure van. A big garage in the back for anything you want to bring with, 4x4 so you’re not hitting the bottom of the van when you’re not on a paved road. A groove lounge that folds down into a bed or four seats or up in two seats with seatbelts and more.

Great job! Reality check on lots of adventure vans out there that look really cool, until it comes time to eat, work and poop 💩. Safe travels!!

There’s a lot of former Travato owners who now own Storytellers. I don’t know if the opposite can be said. 4WD/AWD vans can simply be taken on different terrain and hence serve different demographics with different lifestyles.

I have a storyteller and it works for me -if I need different I would move up to a LTV (if I could find one) or the View/Navion. But for one person or one person with a dog - I have had no trouble over the refridg or the bathroom in my trips which are mostly a week to 10 days. I dislike the sprinter part but I really hated driving the dodge travato in test drives. The storyteller now comes on the ford chassis which I think is great.

One mighty fine shirt their Scott!
You are spot on about the Storyteller... paying a premium but without a lot of, at least what I would consider, important features. As you said, the fridge is way too small and you need to buy expensive mods to make the back livable. If you are spending upwards of $160 grand on an RV, why would it be reasonable to spend and additional $10 grand just to make it livable??
The toilet situation is not ideal, but the van they build on is on 19' long, so you gotta sacrifice somewhere. I suppose it may be possible to use the shower curtain for a little more privacy, but it is still inconvenient. I wonder if it would be possible to buy a different toilet, like a C-Head Shorty or Separett Tiny? Could it fit in the same space?
Do you know if the Storyteller fridge needs the inverter on to run? If so, that is a lot of energy wasted just to run an inverter all day and night... that would most probably run down that bank of battery power the Storyteller has far faster than the Winnebago's batteries that don't need that inverter on all the time.
Not sure about your thoughts on the table... I like the idea of having no table in the way, but that's just me. Does the Storyteller not come with a table of any kind?
I like the end credits too!
    Be seeing you!

Don't want to tent camp anymore. The only problem with the new GL is they took out the added sleeping space. I plan to travel with my son. Mommy needs her own bed. Especially when he gets bigger. Right now because of HOA restrictions and not being able to afford both the van and storage. I am stalled. My current Idea is to pull out the middle seats of my 2016 Honda Odyssey, minivan. Living space during the day. My bed (airbed on floor) at night. My 7 year old still has to sit on the back stow away bench. He can sleep there too. Trunk area will house food, Cooler and stove. Duffel bags or plastic bins for clothes. I bought a bucket toilet for emergencies. Plan to use the campground facilities. My only problem is AC and power. Looking at a Jackery or Yeti. Still trying to figure that out. Cooler months in north FL will help with the AC. This is just for weekend get aways as I am still full time with work. What do you think? South Florida Native
