I was snarky about this game when I played its demo on Steam. I was so annoyed by the mapping of controls. Regardless, I bought it on the Switch coz I figured it's a Switch kind of game. I love the pixel art in this because it all pops on the screen. The townspeople have conversations with each other even without you coming up to talk to them. My favorite thing is the dog hunting down NPCs for you lol. It's so hard to have to memorize where every villager is at any given time. There are still bugs though. I still get stuttering regularly on my Switch Lite, and occasionally, I would use the fast travel and end up in the middle of the forest unable to move or see anything. I have been unable to stop playing since launch despite that xD
I've been using this game as my "chillout" game in between Splatfest sessions on Splatoon 3, and man... this game is amazing. So glad it came out when it did on Switch. I'm not very far into the story yet, but I can already see it getting good and the game's world eventually feeling like a comfy, cozy home in which to relax. Great review.
I agree! I'm kind of surprised to see the mixed reviews because it's such a great game. The writing is better than it needed to be, and even though days are somewhat repetitive in how you forage then talk to villagers, but I think that's the appeal of cozy chill games.

The game still rates as having "mostly positive" reviews, but there were a lot of "not recommended" posts as well. While a few people brought up fair points, like the couple of bugs, launch DLC, etc, others seemed to either not get the concept of a cozy game or were flat out wrong in what they said. I even saw one person claim it's too hard to find NPCs in the game, lol (the dog literally leads you to anyone you want to see). There were also a lot of the expected comparisons to Stardew, which is fair... -ish. I think people need to remember that Stardew has been out for years and has had sooo much of its content added over time. It might be more fair to compare new games to what Stardew started out to be, rather than what it has become. But oh well. I think the reviews will get more and more positive the longer the game is out, as bugs are squashed and more players have a chance to get a feel for the game's cozy vibe. For my part, I'll just keep on chillin' in my Potion Permit town.

The best feature of this game is that your dog will lead you to any NPC you’ve met (Are you listening Concerned Ape?). Not a fan of the teleport glitch still in v 1.0.3, though.
I had that teleporting glitch too. When I hear that alarm sound my thought is always, "gasp, someone needs my help!" And my run turns into a more determined/urgent run lol
In potion permit you can divorce, just buy another moon brooch and give it to another villager, it will appear a message asking if you are sure to end up the other relationship :) I just discovered your channel, good videos! ❤️
I think some of the freezing is just the limitations of Switch Hardware at this point. I get some framerate drops playing Ooblets on switch too. So far on Potion Permit I've played on PC and have had not hangups.
I just pick up this game and I absolutely love it, except for that frame drop and weird travel things of course. As you said, I never feel rushed and try to do one thing at a time. Upgrading your tool makes it a lot easier, to chop more trees without using much energy. Now I'm on my way to fix that cable car :)

When the teleporting bug drops you over in the middle of the woods, if you walk over to the "glitched" teleport location and interact with it it will work again for a while :D
Ahhh yes!! I was hoping you'd make another video about potion permit! I'm so in love with this game!! It's definitely cozy and not stressful like stardew is lol. I think the most frustrating part was when the town hall was closed and I couldn't see Xiao (who doesn't know that I'm planning on marrying him). So I spend most of the day trying to find him, stalking him almost and weirdly enough he was sick the next day (//∇//) lucky me~
If you are looking for a specific NPC you can use your dog to search for them on the map. It will than run to the location the NPC is in so you don't have to aimlessly search for them ^^ ;) MIght help finding the good human boy.

I have not been played massive amount of it yet (so many games on switch right now its insane - loving cosy grove for eg!) but an loving it. I just think they have a cool twist on something familiar. So you get all the cosy you love but with a little something different. 😍
Coral island looks incredible and I don’t know if the actual game play is going to be as good as the teaser looks or what but I’m so keen. Currently finished what’s available on Disney Dreamlight and deep into potion permit (which I’m loving) so I’m sure the wait won’t be too bad!

yeah I know I meant more scrolling across the cursor along the map was annoyingly slow I wish I could have just hit a shoulder button to select which fast travel point I wanted to go to
I have been playing potion permit for 2 weeks now and I enjoyed it alot at the beginning. But the further I got in the story, the more bugs I encountered. Some let me freeze and I had to start the day all over again. Some didnt show npcs in cutscenes, it looked like O was talking to ghosts. Lots of graphic bugs and freezing. The game felt undone and I will wait now to continue playing until the bugs are hopefully fixed :/

my only gripe with this game is that you can’t marry/start a family. I feel like it’s such an oversight, the dating aspect is v lacklustre. the gameplay however is incredible, and original. I haven’t put it down since Thursday!
Is the sound the only way the game tells you there's someone in the clinic? I don't play with sound ever so do I need to just check in the clinic on a daily basis instead?
I was thinking about playing this until DLV gets an update for the switch 😔 I haven’t even been able to get the founders items or connect to the internet. Once they fix it ill start over and enjoy it properly (: ill try this game in the meantime!

I bought it a day late but I have been playing whenever I had some free time and I am really, really loving the game so far. My ownly gripe with it is basically same as yours. I haven't encountered the fast travel glitch yet but the framerate drop /minilags happen every day and they are starting to bother me because my luck lets me fail the minigames while diagnosing a patient do to it lagging shortly and that makes me mad. I had two quests hang themself up at the end of the day and that was also sad because I had to redo the entire day :/ but other than these I LOVE this game! Also... Xiao will be my husbando XD most likely.. unless Lucke becomes even more interesting but so far Xiao just is my favorite. And I love my dog! He can find NPCs for me so I don't have to search high and low for people xD
@@Eeowna It did fix a lot but my game freezes in the middle of cut scenes forcing me to restart the game and lose all of my progress for that day. It has happened to me too many times now, for example I had to restart my game 3 times just yesterday when v.1.0.3 was out. I reported it in Discord so hopefully it gets fixed. Besides the bugs, the game is great. Can't wait to play it again in the future.🥰
