@comatosesperrow I'm sure it has to be that way, due to the forces on the air created by the wings. I would say that it's for balance and true flight. If they were all the same, which I'm sure was already tried, it must have caused bad flight, or no flight at all. Personally, I liked the two-winged ones the best. I thought they were the most graceful. Weird, as I usually like more complex machines. Maybe it's because they really reminded me of birds, having two wings.
on the small machine, for example, do the wings just flap up and down evenly? how the hell is the force that lifts the machine up (when the wings move down) is larger than the force that pushes it down (when the wings move up + gravity)?
does anyone remember the "rods phenomenon" the animals people captured on video flying threw the are and you couldn't tell hat it was...this is what everbody was seeing......probable not.

the push to the wings are offset a bit, it moves the same way you do when you are swimming with two arms.
