14" is a 2-in-1 tablet, 15" is a regular laptop. The most important difference I found was that the 14" does not have a barrel pin charger, it chargers via the 1 USB-C charging port on the machine, so you won't be able to use the USB-C port for anything else while charging. That is a deal breaker for me. Both are very similar overall as far as specs and performance.

Im writing this on my Flex 14. I cannot fault it in any way considering the price.
    - The keyboard is the best ive ever used
    - The battery is stellar
    - I always use it in Battery Saving Mode, even while playing light games - ive yet to hear the fan, and the laptop is cool.
    - It flies through every task
    - 8gb ram seems sufficient
The screen is on the dim side, but its way less of an issue than i thought it would be.

Pretty good battery life, very good performance, I love the keyboard (it's no Thinkpad keyboard, but still love it for long typing sessions), great price, etc, etc. I would like to also note that you mentioned that the pen is optional. It may be different in Canada, but for those buying in the US it ships with the pen, which is a nice little bonus. Also to note, the $599 version on Amazon shipped with 16GB of RAM.

It's one of the best price-to-perf laptops available in Australia, while also also being the only Ryzen 4000 laptop on Amazon Australia, which is already undercutting the previous Ryzen 3000 series and 10th gen Intel. It has better performance than a i7-10510U laptop for around $800 less. I've never seen a laptop this affordable.

It has most of features of a premium ultrabook (all metal build, 10th gen processors, gtx 1650, etc..) but starts at a much lower price. But it's hard to find a good review for it in YT. I owned a Lenovo Flex 14 from 4 years ago, and it was the biggest piece of dog crap of a laptop I've ever owned. It was super slow for its specs, had miserable build quality, and suffered numerous software gremlins. This included shutting down randomly for no reason at all, and the only way to stop it happening was by moving files on my hard drive. Never buying a Lenovo again, especially one of their budget lines like the Flex!

All of these laptop companies only need to release a copy of the eluktronics RP15. Its a laptop that costs less than $1.5k, has Ryzen, a GTX 2060 and a 1080p 144hz panel. If any of the known brands in the US copy those specs and they just put a better finish and keyboard, better quality control and a bigger battery they will sell like crazy! Its all I’m waiting for! The new HP Envy is exactly what Imm looking for, but a freaking Ryzen not the shitty of intel that is so inefficient in a laptop where thermals and battery life is king!

I disagree with the metal comment at the beginning. My Matebook D 14 with a 2500u, 8gb and 14" IPS screen is all-metal with a great build.. It costs me 499.99 at Walmart. So at this price point, it's absolutely possible to have solid performance and all-metal design.

Ports? Tons of it. Cmon, if it doesnt have a RJ-45 jack I am not interested.
Also, I honestly wish for a similar laptop but without the Touch display. There is this trend now with built in touch displays, 2 in 1 nonsense. "Ze" Flex.
Personally, I found that to be a gimmick. Also, considering the display is so reflective....Yuck.
Eliminate the touch layer and improve in other areas, like a f internet port or better build quality. Heck a better display.
Even if that implies raising the cost a bit.

How much I hate when a reviewer says "for this money it shouldn't be metal shell of laptop" - damn ... How wrong you are !!!! What about motile 14 for 189$ that used to be sold in early 2020 ??? It's a huge lie that metallic laptop should be more expensive!! This really grind my gears and these reviewers are just driving the laptop prices up!!!

That Adobe nonsense is why I no longer use adobe products. I use Final Cut, ON1 Photo Raw and Affinity. Final Cut being a mac only program; I'm not even buying this thing to edit videos on. I'm curious to see if there is any performance issues with either of my photo programs.

the middle of the road amd chip is kicking intel´s top end U series cpu. All while having a better gpu and using less power. The 4800u just smokes anything intel has. In has around the same performance as a 10880h at 1/4th the power. pretty impressive stuff

Thanks for another great review. I’m looking at computers for my son, who is heading off to his freshman year of college. Despite being plastic, do you think the build quality is sturdy enough to last for 4 years of college being carried around in a backpack? Thanks, again.

@@Tugennov Better build quality would mean something like the ThinkPad, you may not need to look further than this or an ultraslim, in order to get the most out of your purchase. A plastic product is normal for this price range, andshouldn;t be a deterant if your main concern is quality

I've been using its counterpart Ideapad 5 14 (4500U with 16GB RAM) for several weeks now and here are my thoughts for anyone interested:
I'm surprised by the CPU performance. Browsing is fast, 1080p video editing is snappy and programming task can be handled without difficulty. Furthermore, the temperature while rendering, streaming or heavy multitasking is well balanced. It's far from hot, especially compared with other devices today.
Considering gaming, it does its job very well. It can play the majority of games fairly decent, only don't expect 60fps. I'm not a heavy gamer myself (and if you are, just buy a gaming desktop for optimal performance) but if you're interested in more details then check out this video th-cam.com/video/7z6oh4q_F80/w-d-xo.html
Build quality was better than I expected. The aluminium body feels premium (don't expect MacBook quality). The keyboard is perfectly fine and the built-in stereo speakers deliver well-balanced audio. The webcam and mic are decent enough to work/study from home via Zoom or MS Teams.
However, the device has some drawbacks in my opinion. First (and most important) the screen brightness is not that great, especially when working outside. My brightness settings were between 80-100% during a regular day. Another shortcoming is the battery. I had around 7 hours of regular use. It is decent but don't expect a great battery life. Two other slight (but more personal) shortcomings are the trackpad and the aluminium body. The trackpad is decent but feels somewhat stiff. But my past experiences with MacBook trackpads probably influence my opinion. And considering the aluminium body, it can get very smudgy (yes really smudgy) by fingerprints which are difficult to clean using a cloth.
All in all, this is a great device for the price. At around 600 euros/dollars you get a well-balanced device that suffices in everyday tasks and more. This is one of the best budget-friendly laptops money can buy imo. However, if you are looking for premium screen quality and a 10-12 hour battery life this lenovo Ideapad 5 14 is not for you. Keep in mind that laptops that do have these features are probably double in price. It just depends on your personal preferences.
And a sidenote to gamers: don't expect too much from this device! Yes it can game, and yes it can play with decent framerates. But this is not a gaming laptop. Buy a gaming laptop (or desktop) if your main interest is gaming.
Got any questions? Feel free to react on this comment

Wow, those result on adobe product are low considering the cpu that used, is it possible that the low benchmark result is because a bug or something ? Because the ryzen 4000 series on laptop is considered to be a new cpu, maybe a patch update could fix that?
