I gotta admit, when I first took a look at this I first thought It was an Amish dating ap ad. I've seen Amish men drive cars, let their kids have phones, the wife doing the shopping with debit cards. IT'S WILD!!!
The situation with your parents brings up a hard question: What happens to an Amish farm when the owners pass on, and the property becomes a full fledged inheritance, when their grown adult children are Not practicing Amish? Associated with that is how the property is held when they are living, i.e.. is it held in a trust or foundation?
Where I live in Canada there is a large Mennonite community living the old way on their farms around the edges of the city. It is eerie to drive the side roads out there at might as the farms are all in black, yet while driving you can suddenly come up on a horse and buggy, or a man on a bicycle riding home from a late shift at one of the commercial pig farms that employ many Mennonites. Then as I shop at Walmart there are the Mennonite in their old garb shopping for groceries. I'm disabled, and a woman leading a line of children will help me reach an item from a shelf, but their husband simply stands with arms crossed. Same in the parking lot an older woman will come help me load my car, but her husband will go stand by their buggy. I figure there must be some rule that the men don't help women? 🤔
Don't fret about what you can't SHOW us. It's really ok to let them keep what they need private. We understand. We will enjoy you simply telling fun memories or even stressful memories of the past.. Or when you spoke about the barn or house. Describe it how you remember it

I'm a single guy in my late 20's. I'm kind of impressed with how their communities have been able to work this stuff out. I didn't grow up Amish. So, we usually got the typical, "You'll find somebody someday" speech. Which I think kind of skewed things in favor of those who are really, really social. While more reserved people like me are just confused. Sometimes wandering aimlessly in life. Or worried about meeting someone, who ends-up being a not so good person. Basically, I think your video helped give me some clarity on how humans relationships work. Because it's something that usually isn't talked about in our English society. They either think it's "too personal." Or they expect you to already know this.
What about Amish couples with one mate in the church and another who leaves the church? I know one guy who is an evangelical Christian now, and his wife is Amish.
@@GladeSwope huh? If you are extremely social, why would you want to be alone? In my example, single and 'alone' is someone who is not married or involved with someone. So I have hypothetical question, if a young Amish couple get married and find out a year or so later one or the other can’t produce offspring / children how are they treated by their community?
I always thought ..the Amish arranged marriage...the parents set their kids up from infancy..shows how clueless I am about the Amish community..I stand corrected.. interesting subject.
Could a woman who was born and raised English and is divorced, but decides later in life to join the Amish Church and community, marry a man in the Amish church?
Extremely interesting. I do feel sad for the Amish that never find a partner. Divorce is forbidden? I don’t agree with this either. Just subscribed. Thank you
CJ I know it must really burden your heart knowing your parents are not saved now that you are. How do you or do you address that when you are home. I pray for your family all and pray that maybe someday ALL amish will see where they have been lead wrong.
I still have yet to meet an Amish that is not saved. I used to believe they are not saved because ex- Amish say so. Yet when I get accuainted with them closer, they are born again. May be not all of them( like in any other church), but those I met , believe in Jesus. They just have an understanding that this world is a pretty defiled place and they choose not to live like the rest, but rather separate themselves for continuing simple Christian life as a first church Community. Their teaching is biblical for the most part.As a very close knit spiritual family they choose to follow agreements on how they want to deal with the worldly things. Those are not "rules". Rules are for children, but grownups have agreements. They do not believe agreements save them. They believe in being born again and follow Christ and His teaching literally. Protestants have a "head doctrine" and they think they figured it all out. But often their life is the same as in the world. Divorces, remarriages, going to courts, killing in self defence and in a war. These are things contrary to a sound doctrine of Christ and His Apostles. Jesus said if you are truly my disciples, you will follow me. And" if you live Me you will do what I say"
@@natalijaasbjornsen8827 Ask any Amish if they are saved. They will tell you they can’t know if they are saved or not. If we don’t know if we are saved, we are not fully trusting in the work of Christ, we must then, by default, rely on ourselves to be good enough to get to heaven by our own works. The Bible is very clear it is only by the grace of God through faith only. I get what you’re saying and I’d love to think that most of them are saved. And mostly there good works would show they are saved but unfortunately I do not think this is the case. I think they are under the spell of a false religion and are not being set free in Christ.
