* For best results, soft iron is used to construct the wire in the sonometer.
* In sonometer, we use a non magnetic wire (brass or copper) so that the wire does not get affected by a magnet .
* If we use iron or steel wire, it will be attracted by the magnet and will not be able to vibrate under the action of electric current and magnetic field.
