Really took me half a year to make. Huh. Originally I wanted to make something calm like I usually do, but after listening for War Without Reason millions of times I decided to try and put all my experience with the Violence layer into music form. That said, this arrangement is even more experimental than the last one and contains parts I composed myself. I think War Without Reason represents an endless climb, an attempt to reach unimaginable heights. But the more I listen to it the more it feels like a struggle. Like the waves crash down upon you and you’re trying to find a tiny shred of hope. I tried to portray this feeling; mostly through maintaining the restless flow of the original composition only interrupted by occasional pauses and breaths by the end. They’re like sudden thoughts of giving up and letting the deep to devour you. And I’m happy with how this arrangement turned out. Designed to cover a huge range of emotions, it heavily relies on performance. It took A LOT of time to get the phrasing just right, otherwise it felt bland and devoid of the “endless stream” feeling. It’s still rough around the edges but a lot better than the previous arrangement. Challenging but I learned quite a lot from this. Also, here's a small commentary on some parts. 0:00 I wanted the intro to sound like the starting theme of 6-2 “Fallen Angel”. It’s just that good story-wise, a cinematic prelude to the great bossfight. Just like Gabriel talks about the fate of hell and his hatred for V1 while “Fallen Angel” is playing, this intro accompanies yet another story. 3:46 The “core” part is replaced entirely, as I can’t arrange metallic clatter for now. 4:55 It is what it sounds like - a funeral march. The idea comes from (friggin brilliant) Beethoven’s Symphony no. 3, 2nd movement in particular. The contrast between the “marcia funebre” and the light-hearted, hopeful part feels soooo good so I decided to do something similar. 5:36 Silver raindrops glitter in the benevolent rays of summer sun... The last rain humanity witnessed. 7:01 May your fingers experience hell. I should make a nerfed version of this piece. 8:00 Hakita mentioned he was trying to mix words contrasting with each other so I find it kinda ironic that the dissonant chord in the end doesn't have a resolution. It’s not a “perfect closure”. It lacks the sense of finality. There is no concluding statement, just a silent question. Is this really how it should have ended?..
"You reached out for God, and you fell. None were left to speak your Eulogy. No final words, no concluding statement. No point. Perfect Closure. This is the only way it should have ended." And now that I'm done quoting what you put, something I'd add to the end: "Is this really how it should have ended? Were you born to see the sky become blacker than the earth that you destroyed? Did God see you reach up? Did he reach back? Or did he swat your hand away, not wanting to dirty himself with the guts of his subjects? . . . Was he even there to see you reach for him?" Okay now that my little rant is done: This is a great piece. I swear for a second there that I felt like I was actively in hell fighting, not in the sense of playing ULTRAKILL, but in the sense of being the last thing alive waiting to die. Looking to the sky and seeing dozens, hundreds of stars. But they weren't stars, instead they were the eyes of earthmovers staring me down as they futilely fought each other. That's what this piece made me see and I loved it. Keep up the great work, and please for the love of all that is holy and unholy, be proud of your amazing work.
@@maggeemoo I love how everything in ultrakill is so exaggerated, even the writing, but absurdly enough it feels so subtle and poetic. Music's greatest value is the ability to make you imagine things you will never experience in real life. This is the highest praise to me, can't thank you enough

@@Gortplush Just warning you, and anyone else who reads this, that the following is some [ [ PRETTY MAJOR SPOILERS ] ] for the game's lore. Ultrakill's lore isn't as central to its gameplay as some other games, but if that's something you care about stop reading. It's unconfirmed, but a popular theory is that Hell itself ended up invading Earth proper. It's shown to have influence in the Prelude factories - just outside of Hell proper - so it's not impossible that its influence could extend far beyond its borders. The P-2 ARG lore suggests that, after its first interactions with living humans in the factories, it wanted to claim more from the surface. Oh, yeah, by the way, Hell is sentient. It's confirmed that Hell itself is the one who wrote the "antennas to heaven" story, and it communicates with you in certain other points in later levels (such as just before the Panopticon door, and in the bomb room in 7-2).

Hakita has actively removed references on the official wiki to machines being the cause of humanity's extinction. It's very likely something else.
Oh,so what killed em?
@hencethebeetroot thanks for the lore pal, really taking note not going to lie.
@@Gortplush any excuse to write paragraphs of ultrakill lore is reward enough in itself
ironically, ultrakill lore is like ultra tragic
humans fucking died, gabriel is about to die in cap 3, even minos and sisyphus ended losing and dying
i love the contrast between lore, gameplay, and fandom lmao
Lore: everyone is fucking dead (or dying)
Gameplay: the most badass thing ever
Fandom: "we're gonna flood reddit with r34 art"
@v0idhost i still don't understand why the ultrakill fandom is so fucking horny lmao
@@payaz0381 I'm wondering too
@@payaz0381i mean, the devs made *official* bodypillows and an *official* $3x mod

yoo I was checking out your channel since I loved your bonebottom arrangement, and here you are making yet another arrangement from one of my favorite games??? : D
I love the classical take on this song, especially 7:00
i can tell just how much thought was put into this, especially with the absurd song length
voidhost you are super underrated and I hope you continue uploading these covers because they're so beautiful nbksnre
Damm, the bonebottom arrangement? This one is so old (but I'm proud of it still)
I have a lot of plans for ultrakill ost, stay tuned! And thank you for your support
@@v0idhost oooh i can't wait
(even if it's old, the bone bottom arr. Is gorgeous, it helped lots when I was learning the song on piano)

Good performance my friend!!🎸🎼🎹🔝Keep it up!
This will make a fine addition to my [[Benjamin group chat] collection!
Ben Jamin? Yeah, this song's really good.
Well... It's... Just... ❤️🔥
All that was left was piano without reason to play this banger.
Edit: I was playing a tornado chasing game whilst listening to this and I have to admit this song really fits the theme of "Perfect destruction" Because at 2:40 in the game I was playing a strong tornado ripped a town apart and I could see so much utter destruction and including the music it was a chefs kiss.
this goes hard
Beautiful!
Thanks!

sure!

@@SOLARIS-wy2xy Whoa thats a lot of work! Gl with that
@@v0idhost 13 years of work, thanks! 😊
Having been capable to use Ultrakill in it (Act XVIII : Catharsis of Excessive Violence) made it a lot better, despite it having a lot of philosophical and psychological moments, I wanted to have a contrast between the actual Chapter where Benjamin is fought (229, Like Antennas to Heaves), which is 99% a meme one based on those videos where both it and V1 can talk but, at the end of it, the (fan made) documentation on the Earthmover, which is all serious and profound (that's where your narration comes in handy), at first is supposed to make you go wtf why so serious all of a sudden but then you realize one thing :
W A R I S A S E R I O U S B A T T L E
F O U G H T F O R S T U P I D R E A S O N S
I mean, 99% of the times
@@SOLARIS-wy2xy yeah that's 100% true!
