I am simple man. When I see the best dunker ever, I click.
Vince Carter was the NBA back then. People forget Vince was the number 1 Allstar vote getter for 5 straight years, from 2000 to 2004. Absolute highlight machine. Best dunker ever, best player with highlights and was super talented offensively. It's a shame Toronto never retired his no. 15.
Yeah Carter was never the best player in the league, but he could have been at any moment and the reason he got so many votes was because he put an entire country of Canada onto basketball. Toronto should retire his number and give him a statue.
@@Byronic19134 2001 he was arguably the best player in the league check his numbers
5 straight years is insane
@@Byronic19134 01 -02 he was the best in the league no question
Number 15 should be retired by the raptors, this man is the reason why raptors still in Toronto.
How is this 24 years ago and vince aint aged a day?
Facts!!
Thank you for putting Toronto on the map, Vince. Growing up i remember seeing posters of your through the legs dunk at all my friend's houses. I always saw you as an amazing athlete who wore the Toronto jersey when few would dare to. Can't even imagine what you guys would've achieved here if T Mac and you both stayed. Regardless I really love how you refer to Toronto as "we", despite being gone for so long. Much love and respect ✌️
Yup I had one of those posters in my room
I'm from Lithuania. At that time, I was 12 years old. I remember after that iconic dunk contest, everyone was talking about how Vince Carter jumped so high that he even put his elbow in the rim. Ohhh... when I see all these players from that era, I feel like I have a special connection with them. Ah, good old nostalgic memories.
Same vibes for me man, i was 11 at that time 🙌 cheers from Spain!
It's the flair he has that gets me, Kobe made couple of these dunks earlier and many others made it before or after him. His body control in the air is just different, the others look like they are rushing through stages just so they are over with them and don't miss the attempt. VC though takes his time, transitions smoothly while rising up, finishing his dunk and then lands back. It was great to listen to commentary, I would have never guessed he felt this anxious and he's so humble about it. Best dunker ever.
his peers all have them flares but due to his amazing core, long wingspan, big hands and height. He got it all lol
VC set the level for the future dunkstars. even the pro dunkers say it that VC was their inspiration. He's a freaking dunk legend! 🔥
Nobody can or will ever do it like Vince!!!!
VC is best dunker in NBA 💯
T-mac and Vinsanity in the backyard is all the practice they needed. It's crazy how competitive these guys were. Each one elevated the other. Vince made nba Jam game look easy
This is when Vince Carter was known as "Air Canada"!!. At this time Vince was being labelled the next Micheal Jordan after this event. Dunker's use variants of Carter's dunks to this day.
Best dunker who ever lived. Tell me otherwise
Ja morant has entered the Chat 💬
@@typingpleasewait😂😂😂
Zac Levine can almost do a 360 free throw line dunk bruh
Yeah no…
@@typingpleasewaithi you've reach Vince Carter, I jumped over a 7footer @ the Olympics.. please leave a msg after the beep 😂😂
Vince is not only a great player but he knew about the concepts of theatrics and anticipation
24 years ago n Vince looks like he aged 3yrs.
I was in my high school senior year during this dunk contest. I couldn’t wait to get to school Monday so we could talk about this contest. We talked about it all week.
Amazing dunk contest and time to be a basketball fan! You were my childhood hero Vince. You literally changed my life as my no 1 role model! Will always cherish those great moments and look back at them with joy.
The launchpad moment. Propelling half man half amazing and the Raptors to new highs. Thank you TMAC and VC for all that you did for Canada basketball #thecartereffect
the most entertaining era of basketball history.. carter playing with t-mac like everytime their team play i always watch the highlights on espn
VC went from being the top vote getting in all-star games for multiple years to being snubbed from the top 75 list. Make it make sense.
Vince was my favorite player and the arm in the rim dunk is the dopest dunk.
Will be there to watch you enter the HOF later this year. Favorite player of all time. I’ll have your VC15 armband on during the ceremony which you threw me back in 2005 while a kid in the stands. Nets vs Cavs
Bro we ALL wanted to experience that moment. I'm glad he got to experience that. ALL the attention was on him.
I stopped watching basketball after Jordan retired and didnt know anyone from the next generation of stars and i was watching tv in another room and my father started yelling, come here come here! Carter is about to dunk and i didnt know who he was. So i barely made it in time to see the 360 windmill and my jaw dropped and i became a fan of the Nba to this very day. Thanks to Vince. Cant wait to see what Mac does tonight
One of the most talented of all time.
Half man, Half amazing. Thank you Vince for everything, the main reason why I loved to watch basketball when I was a little boy.
Living legend! The one who made me love basketball and start dunking!
Watched this with a smile on my face the whole time
My favorite player ever VC. You the man. Best dunker ever hands down
I still remember playing Xbox One NBA 2K1 and Vince was 99 and pretty much unstoppable.
Still my absolute favorite dunker of all time
Greatest dunk contest ever, and one of the great moments in NBA history
😂 Guess you were alive in 2000, but not in 2016
If sport is about pure joy and entertainment, Vince at the dunk contest is the purest form.
Great video. VC was my fav player along with T-mac. I was 15 when this happened, saw it back then. and i couldnt believe what i saw. Still the best dunk contest in my mind.
Honestly, 2 hands from a step inside the free throw line is pretty impressive even for today.
Vince Carter was a moster, bless him and bless basketball okay thanks 🖐️
Those genes, man. 24 years later he doesn't look much different. Some of us would borderline line look like different people, lol.
I've never seen the 5th dunk ever until today.
the whole squad at the crib like 20 of us watching main event type ish. the whole vibe of that era AND1 NBA HOOP IT UP the music the culture...shit was crazy
Greatest dunker of all time
Watching Vince's early career was so entertaining
Vince Carter was the type of player that made other NBA pros feel like they didn't belong in the league. Mind boggling level of athleticism.
Let's be real here, Vince set the damn bar too high for years to come LOL!!!
The dunk contest nowadays will never be like it was back then. We’ve seen it all . There’s nothing else that’s going to shock us. WOW! What a night that was 2000 dunk contest.
Raptors legend. After Lowry and Demar, he deserves that 15 in the rafters.
Kawhi first
@@geronimopratt7976😂😂😂 really, a rental player on load management?....... Notice raptors don't have one player from that championship team
After who? 😂😂😂
@@choppedstewtv8889 all the corny emojis didn't get you the reaction you wanted. The NBA and the Toronto Star reported that the city of Toronto offered Kawhi a free massive home, unlimited free meals for life, and he would get free clothes from endorsements. Now this was actual reported news and the Raptors fanbase applaud Kawhi anytime he plays in Toronto. What are you on?
wydm after? He's first, Toronto wouldn't exist without this guy carrying that country.
At his peak, the greatest athlete to ever play in the NBA. Period.
This stuff is priceless to someone like myself who saw it live and always wondered what Vince was thinking.
4:05 This Dunk would still be 50 until to this day and maybe 10 20 or even 50 years past damn that warm up dunk must be the greatest dunk of all time period. Many player today imitate this but this one was flawless the execution was perfect
Adrenaline helped VC on that 1st dunk
Vince was the Raptors! I will never forget the 2000 dunks
so interesting hearing his thoughts on it!! wow. I always remember this as the best dunk contest performance ever 🔥🙌
I just remember how electric the arena was when they were waiting for Vince... Amazing
Vince is my favorite player of all time. The raptors owe him their franchise imo. If he never did what he did in Toronto they would've ended up just like the Vancouver Grizzlies
Can't believe Vince didn't know what dunks he was going to do and he was just making it up on the fly like that. Crazy.
Best contest ever
VC first dunk sums up his legacy, best dunk ever
Vince was a smooth operator with his dunks. 🙏
Dunk 🤴King. GOAT🎉❤
Still the best dunk contest ever to date. The best time in basketball period
360 Vincemill best dunk of all time .. for sure.
That was a-GREAT-dunk contest. VINCE and TRACEY were the BEST dunkers, but,Vince was doing dunks no one had seen before,at that time.
Dr J there to congratulate Vince after is perfect.
Same height, Vince in his prime with the originator.
Dr J popularized dunking, Vince brought the dunk contest bavk after years of lack luster contests.
miss these days so much
I remember Vince Carter had some nasty dunks at UNC
He is my favorite player ever
The two shoes I've ever bought that were my idol, Kobe's Adidas, and Vince Carter's Nike Shox.
vince❤❤❤15❤❤❤carter
Vince is the best dunker ever!!
His dunking style is absolutely insane and he made me say that he was more stylish than Mikey
Back when the NBA players had that DAWG in em and everybody cared about being competitive 💯💪 also on another note Vince still look kinda the same lol
Vinsanity
Best dunk contest of all time. Honestly
Carter, Lavine & Gordon must be the GOAT slamdunk competition
Poor new gen dunkers. They should rack their brains to innovate for this event. Simple savage dunks doesn't cut it anymore.
He's right... last dunk was meh
@15:46 bro didn't even use the whined up method of jumping, he pop jump, smh that's crazy yo
11:49 ayooooo KG don’t turn around
Only thing Vinsanity needed to do different on the final dunk was to hang on the rim swinging than slap the backboard or something to put an official stamp on it.
Or just a simple 1 hand 360 he does In game all the time
His final dunk was wack
Vince is too hard on himself for the last dunk. I really liked it. Two-hands from the free throw line instead of one. Never done before. He also dribbled instead of just carrying it, adding to the difficulty.
we need new knuckle heads production!
Dunk God
Best dunk until now.
🐐 🔥🔥🔥
Still can't believe he not included in 75 greatest players
I liked to watch him....He was rallye aws
Vince Carter..............Organize your body very well both when jumping and when falling to the ground.
Half Man Half Amazing
Vince Carter Is The Best Dunker In The NBA 💯
This man don't jump he fly low
Air Canada all day
Half man half amazing all day
VC15
Man, if he would've took off from the free throw line and dunked with two hands...OMG!!! 😮
Vinsanity was DIFFERENT! Nothing like him since!
When you got Bruce Wayne confused on what was going on. You def winning!
Literally every NBA player was in attendance, that era was special
*OPEN UP THE VAULT NBA!!!*
*GIVE US THE 2000, 2001, 2002 ALL-STAR GAME IN HD PLEASE*
Lowkey Steve Francis and Tracy McGrady made that contest closer than it really was
Power dunker
Nobody's saying that Kenny is ageless 😂😂😂😂 And so is Vince.
VC is the greatest dunker of all time, and it's not close
Honestly would have loved to see J Rich vs J Smith vs Vince Carter
what may never be replicated as a Dunk contest. Even Kobe didnt want to enter a Dunk contest with Vinsanity (relax, get the 5 rings out. We just talking about the Dunk contest)
From a Dunker Pov, he hasnt done any dunk we havent seen during that time. TH-cam was existing and arm into the rim was some guy on yt even before kobe did it.
Between the legs we already witnessed isaiah rider doing it.
But how he perfomed the dunks and also on first attempt, was as spectacular as it can be. he is probably the best dunker when it comes to looks, But dont forget prime B.Griffin, hes not far behind.
Also his competition were great dunkers, all of them. to win against a guy like steve francis is crazy, also t-mac was on point only 1 miss. What Vince has is the perfect size to make it look good.
T-Mac a bit to tall, francis wouldve won easy without VC.
VC has the perfect hight for an atletic baller, just ask MJ.
Kobe was crazy though. He did the in between the legs and the honey dip before Vince.
I wanna Jason Richardson react to his dunk contests
