I never imagined what Squiggy's singing voice would be like. I used to watch the reruns of this show all the time as a kid -- I think it's time to watch it again!
You wouldn't have guessed it to watch at the time, but Michael McKean would go on to a remarkable career. Apart from Lenny here, he'd be David St. Hubbins in Spinal Tap and Chuck McGill in Better Call Saul. Most actors would be lucky to get just one notable/memorable role.
I went to college in Milwaukee and lived their for awhile, great city but I never heard this song until today. I suspect most people in Milwaukee haven't heard it either. 20, 30 years ago a lot of people knew the Milwaukee Polka but I doubt if many people remember that either.
I grew up in the 70s to early 80s, and lived in Milwaukee for many years. I asked Google for Laverne and Shirley's fictional address and one of the answers was 780 Knapp street which is on the East side. It makes sense because of the buildings in that area, but it doesn't match the numbers on the building in this video. Milwaukee's east side and downtown sort of blend together in some areas. I never heard of Shotz Brewery, it might be fictional. I remember seeing Schlitz, Pabst blue ribbon, and Miller off of I94/43 downtown near the Marquette interchange. There was also a Wonder Bread factory near there. In the 70s and 80s, South Milwaukee was heavily influenced by German and Polish culture which explains the presence of Usinger's and Klement's sausages. I don't know if it's still there, but a Harley Davidson factory was somewhere in Milwaukee. UW Milwaukee is more on the south-east side. There's also Marquette University Downtown, and Milwaukee School of Engineering which are all very reputable colleges. Milwaukee is a beautiful place to experience, especially in Autumn around Halloween and Thanksgiving when there are fallen leaves all over the place. Make sure you have a strong car battery and a reliable furnace in your home because the Winters _"aint no joke."_
@@nuttysquirrel8816 Yes, "Shotz Brewery" was fictional. I believe it was supposed to represent "Schlitz". I have lived in Milwaukee my whole life. As a young boy, I used to take pride that both "The Fonz" and "Laverne and Shirley" lived (in the past) in my hometown. Even then, I knew it was fiction but still took pride in it. Genuinely nice song. Never heard of it before.
Nice little number by the cast. I liked this show and was even happier to see Betty Garrett reemerge. A big fan of musicals I remembered her in films like 'On the Town' and 'Take Me Out To The Ball Game'. She was paired up with Frank Sinatra in both of those musicals.

Edited to add: A few days after my original post, I was tempted to give it a thumbs down because I have had this charming tune stuck in my head ever since. Just kidding --still grateful you posted it.
