It was actually so nice to have Jewish culture spoken about a bit!! In these interviews celebrities always talk about their holiday celebrations, why shouldn’t we? And James should’ve used the opportunity to ask questions instead of moving on from it- why not learn?
While I could be wrong, I read his response as cautiously respectful. Comedians’ go-to response is to make jokes, but when you are not educated about the culture and not a member of the culture, jokes can go bad very quickly - especially in a world that seems primed to antisemitism. I agree that this would have been a great opportunity to foster a better understanding of Jewish culture, but I can respect him wanting to avoid making a comment in ignorance that could be construed as racist.
@@laneldacaples8070 i agree! Sometimes you can be wary of asking the wrong questions, too. I think James handled it well, playing off of his own ignorance. Max and Mayim talked about it on her podcast and said they had so much fun, too.
Four months later, and Max Greenfield guested on Mayim Bialik’s podcast! Woot! 🥳 An awesomely full circle moment-you could tell in this clip here that these two would get along swimmingly. ☀️❤️
It’s so cool that they had two Jews on the show together to talk about Rosh Hashanah - I’m Jewish and I love both of them and how they represent Judaism to the general public
Loved LOVED the stuff about synagogue and shofar-blowing! The whole audience being totally silent because they had no idea how to react but were just taking it in was awesome! I learned so much in the first three minutes of this video. the tiktok stuff was pointless.
It says a lot about his personality. I’m not Jewish and while I don’t know the intricate details of a Jewish religious service, I’d like to think I could come up with something better than dead silence. Just makes him look like a dull potato who can’t go off script
@@funkycacahuete2933 completely agree. It shows his disinterest but even i know how to converse with someone whos passionate abt smth i could care less about. He gets paid to do it and struggled
This was such awkward and terrible hosting. Mayim and Max were carrying the interview themselves for the first half there, so awkward. They shouldn't have to do that. And then being told James has nothing to offer is one big way to shut down a conversation that his guests were clearly enjoying.
In fairness it’s a part of our culture that very few non Jews know about. The only thing most people know about RH is that it’s new year and very holy. And that’s usual where it ends.
I am not a fan of Corden but he acted properly. he has no idea what both of them were talking about but he let them enjoy theirself ofc he could have been better (way better) but it wasn't terrible
I don't think it was that awkward, I'd say it actually worked in the show's favour. They both knew they were wandering into territory completely unknown to the host and the audience, and played it off with such panache and fun. James Corden looking completely lost added so much, it didn't detract from anything. As for the cutoff, he came in and steered things back on track at the right time. Definitely non standard for late night TV, but such a delight.
this is why I feel bad for my fellow gentiles who didn't grow up with a whole bunch of Jewish friends. i fucking love Jewish culture, and these two basically just having their own show while James is the guest 😂
I love Mayim, just saw her in a Groundlings improv show last week, so good!! 👏👏👏👏👏and she's so talented, I had no idea she was a shofar blower 🤯🤯🤯 Her and Max are great together, the mitvah we didn't even know we needed! Mazel! 💜
🤣🤣 I absolutely LOVED this interview. I love our people and our culture. ❤️✡️🇮🇱. James was clueless which made it hilarious. Educate the people Max and Mayim.
I did NOT KNOW this was the jewish content I needed so grateful to max and mayim for talking about this, wish james would have at least tried to look interested but its his last season for a reason ig
I’m pretty sure James didn’t know Max was Jewish and that’s why he didn’t wish him Shana Tova. And then when he realized he is Jewish, he felt really awkward
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE MAX GREENFIELD! And I love Mayim! I would love to see them in a show together being nothing else but Jewish! 🤣 Max is SO SCHMIDT! My favorite. 🫶🏼
Nope. There’s definitely weird tension because Corden doesn’t know how to loop both of his guests into a single conversation or how to react on the fly.
I'm a fan of James! First time I saw him clueless and speechless LOL! Didn't know that Mayan is a shofar blower! I love our Jewish culture! James could explore more about it, maybe Mayan could invite him and teach more about our traditions, just an idea... Shana Tova Umetuka from JLM!
James was NOT being weird. He reacted like a normal person who is a third wheel all of a sudden in a very funny situation. That interview went off the rails ( in a funny but weird way) and he verbally and facially expressed it - maybe even exaggerated it - for the comedic effect. When he wished her a happy new year for Rosh Hashanah, I bet no one thought this was where the interview was going to spiral. It was interesting and informative and you want to be respectful but it was also chaotic hilarity and they were laughing so hard it was a little hard to follow - I was laughing partly because they were laughing but I didn’t understand how it got to this point (metaphorically speaking) So James reacted just fine.
Sometimes it's okay to just enjoy your guests. You don't have to be performing aka be 'funny' all the time. You'll be able to ask better questions and not be awkward lol. Lesson learned. All good. Shout out to the Jewish power team.
I don't understand James's reaction to them - he could've made it so much funnier if he would've asked questions and tried to learn instead of looking at his cards. The Jimmy's would've milked this!
Being a gentile is not really a reason to not be a good interviewer. You can get a lot from context. Ok they’re clearly talking about part of their religious ceremony. But the dead silence. Just goes to show he can’t do or say anything that’s off script.
Max and Mayim would make a great married Jewish couple on a sitcom, so funny together
Mayim hosting jeopardy
Absolutely
I'd watch the hell out of that lol
I was going to say that
Brother and sister.
It was actually so nice to have Jewish culture spoken about a bit!! In these interviews celebrities always talk about their holiday celebrations, why shouldn’t we? And James should’ve used the opportunity to ask questions instead of moving on from it- why not learn?
He was so weird about it. Like even if you don't have any banter to add just be like "wow cool"
Because James is a terrible host.
Brits are a little weird with jewish folks
While I could be wrong, I read his response as cautiously respectful. See now I was listening to the podcast and now I’m looking up this video lol
we need Mayim and Max in a project together 😂
The silence of James Corden is absolutely amazing! I don’t think I’ve ever seen him speechless before
Such a shame this happened on a LA show. It was just the wrong live audience. I have a feeling it would have landed in NYC.
Max doesnt and will never understand how much we love him like he doesn’t seem to grasp it which makes it that much better
I've been in love with him since he played Officer Leo on Veronica Mars!!!
It’s so cool that they had two Jews on the show together to talk about Rosh Hashanah - I’m Jewish and I love both of them and how they represent Judaism to the general public
The shofar part is comedy GOLD!!!!! 🤣
Their high-five at the end, was like 2 little kids!! And James was their dad...😂🤣
Loved LOVED the stuff about synagogue and shofar-blowing! The whole audience being totally silent because they had no idea how to react but were just taking it in was awesome! I learned so much in the first three minutes of this video. the tiktok stuff was pointless.
It was awesome.
I love how James is totally stuck on the ram's horn
I came and found this clip because of a short that Mayim put up where they were explaining how his dad loved this segment. I had to see it for myself.
She is so vibrant, that everyone around her has fun because of her! 🥰🥰🥰
I love how everyone was so confused about the shofar. We have a very interesting indigenous culture.
Am Yisrael chai 🥰
I don’t know how or if ppl were, James just couldn’t keep with their funniness!
@@Angel-te2jt,un
am I the only one that thought james corden was super weird through this whole interview
It says a lot about his personality. I’m not Jewish and while I don’t know the intricate details of a Jewish religious service, I’d like to think I could come up with something better than dead silence. Just makes him look like a dull potato who can’t go off script

I wish Graham Norton was interviewing them, it would have been brilliant, even more funny and he could have kept them going longer
You just figuring the weird part out!?
James Cordens confusion added to the humor!
i was waiting for him to say “judaism son” 😭😂
This was such awkward and terrible hosting. Mayim and Max were carrying the interview themselves for the first half there, so awkward. They shouldn't have to do that. And then being told James has nothing to offer is one big way to shut down a conversation that his guests were clearly enjoying.

Agreed literally skipped to the TikTok part 😂 they looked like they were having fun but I cringed with the James bit
I am not a fan of Corden but he acted properly. he has no idea what both of them were talking about but he let them enjoy theirself
ofc he could have been better (way better) but it wasn't terrible

I think he acted correctly. He didn't interrupt, he let them have their thing to which he couldn't add anything. What else do you expect
Imagine these two interviewed by Grahan Norton! hahaha
Now reimagine this whole encounter but with Jimmy Fallon, he'd be eating this up.
this is why I feel bad for my fellow gentiles who didn't grow up with a whole bunch of Jewish friends. i fucking love Jewish culture, and these two basically just having their own show while James is the guest 😂
I laughed so hard when the camera moved to James after all that Shofar talk 🤣🤣🤣
Mayim Bialik is such a queen!
I love Mayim, just saw her in a Groundlings improv show last week, so good!! 👏👏👏👏👏and she's so talented, I had no idea she was a shofar blower 🤯🤯🤯 Her and Max are great together, the mitvah we didn't even know we needed! Mazel! 💜
I need more Mayim and Max. And, yes, I've already seen the podcast episode. Please, sir, may I have some more?
🤣🤣 I absolutely LOVED this interview. I love our people and our culture. ❤️✡️🇮🇱. James was clueless which made it hilarious. Educate the people Max and Mayim.
This was too good. 😂 The shofar bit was so funny 🤣
Schmidt in the distance: "JUDAISM SON!!"
Loolllllll! Be my friend! 😂🙌
extended shofar bits is extremely my shit. thank you max and mayim
I’m still waiting for James to wish Max a happy new year too? 🤔
Yeah he seem not very nice towards max here.smh
Did he not know he was Jewish? That was so weird.
The first 3 minutes are gold
"I'd watch that ten million times"
His daughter was right he would be a hit on Tik Tok
Anytime I see him it just makes me miss Schmidt :(
James couldn't be more English here. They kicked out all the Jews in 1290 and have suffered since.
this video should be renamed Mayim Bialik's Yemenite Shofar
Can Mayim and Max take over for James? At least they’re nice people off camera, and hilarious on camera 😂.
I did NOT KNOW this was the jewish content I needed so grateful to max and mayim for talking about this, wish james would have at least tried to look interested but its his last season for a reason ig
This is one of my fave interviews ever 😂
I HAVE A JEWISH TEACHER WHO TAUGHT US ALL THAT STUFF I WOULD HAVE BEEN SO HYPE IN THAT CROWD. MY VERY OWN "SPEAK VALENTINA" "ALLY!" MOMENT
Was it just me, or was James snubbing Max at the beginning of the interview? He literally looked at him and said no.
lmao they just faded out in the middle of the conversation at the end
That cracked me up! They're like, no one's watching that show...
That just put the biggest smile on my face.
I’m pretty sure James didn’t know Max was Jewish and that’s why he didn’t wish him Shana Tova. And then when he realized he is Jewish, he felt really awkward
A wonderful moment with wonderful guests and a terrible host! Someone like Trevor or Stephen would have made GOLD out of this conversation!
I think it looks like a man having a break down 😂😂😂😂 I’m dead ☠️
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE MAX GREENFIELD! And I love Mayim! I would love to see them in a show together being nothing else but Jewish! 🤣
Max is SO SCHMIDT! My favorite. 🫶🏼
These two together is amazing
I want someone from New Girl to gues star on The Neighborhood or Kat Dennings to be on there.
I went to look up the interview, these two were great, James Corden was completely hopeless
As usual. Corden always tries to make the interview focus on him. Graham Norton interviews are so much better.
Everyone was genuine...this was lovely!!!
He looks like a young Tom Cruise he’s got the cutting his jaws
Why was there so much tension? Or am I just too high
Nope. There’s definitely weird tension because Corden doesn’t know how to loop both of his guests into a single conversation or how to react on the fly.
Shana Tova mayim and max!👍💜🥳😂
Never heard of a shofar, but I’m definitely gonna find some temple videos to see what’s good.
Her name is Mayim מים
James doing what he does best, ie sucking the joy out of the moment.
The most Jewish interview ever!!
Loved it! And the way he called the shofar blasts was exactly like in shul.
Facts. The goyim are Like what's happening 😳 🤣🤣🤣
They should do a show or a movie together that would be great.
At the beginning-im pretty sure James thought Max was making a joke … maybe he didn’t realize - oh he is actually Jewish!
I would literally spend an entire day watching Max Greenfield just mispronounced Yiddish words! And laugh my butt off!😂😂😂😂
100 episodes! Wooo! You know what that means? Syndication! 🤑💸💲💰💕👍
My reaction: tekiah--trouah-- tekiah gedolah.
They are hilarious😂I mean Mayim and Max.
JUDAISM, SON!
this is the funniest interview ever I'm loving it
James's vibe to guy is coldddd
Yah, I came here to say that too. Did we miss something? Was that an act or what was up with that?
I was thinking that first but then it seemed more…confused?
Tbh..James just isn’t an entertainer, He wasn’t made for a talk show
If you live in the Hudson Valley like I do, you can really tell that Max Greenfield is from Westchester
Best interview
James cordon is coming off insensitive to the Jewish community and looks disgusted. He hates being out of the loop.
They could be siblings ❤
James was NOT being weird. He reacted like a normal person who is a third wheel all of a sudden in a very funny situation. Where was the throw to Ian 'bar mitzvah'ed and everything' Karmel during this segment???
James taking a second to try to figure out if Max is Jewish at the start
I❤Max!
They're great. Mayim so lovely.
james couldnt be moe awkward if he tried
Love his admission of his awkwardness 💕
This was great for our Jewish audience!
As a jew, I can confirm everything they said is correct
The best interview so so funny
But James was weird with Max. Was that an act? Did I miss something prior to this footage?
Corden do better… I’m not even Jewish and there are so many questions you could’ve asked
Reggie looks like he just came from The Three Amigos reboot! 🤣
Mayim and max definitely should have a comedy show together hitting on the Jewish faith ❤❤lol 😂 It would be hilarious!!!!
Go look at comedians who will randomly shout out call and response prayers in Hebrew. It’s beautiful, hilarious, and affirming!
It's very cool that Mayin plays the shofar ❤
Mayim :) (it means water)
After watching the original video, this is more hilarious
Loved this interview
This is so great!

Shout out to the Jewish power team.
Corden always tries to make the interview turn to him.
I don't understand James's reaction to them - he could've made it so much funnier if he would've asked questions and tried to learn instead of looking at his cards. The Jimmy's would've milked this!
Love the Jewish representation!!!
❤️💚💛🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣I can't stop
This is the best ever
it was perfect 😂
Obsessed. James do more Jewish stuff please!!!
I love you James
He sure does
Love it! 😂❤️🔥

What’s good with James’ horrible hosting, He can do better than this
Great show amazing
What a beautiful rich culture Jewish people are blessed to have.. lovely to hear these two
Wait……..his name isn’t Schmidt?
omygahd I miss Schimdt so much
I agree… there is no over representation of Jews in entertainment. I stand corrected.
