- Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches three PARAM Rudra supercomputers and a high-performance computing system to boost India's scientific research capabilities. Developed under the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM) at a cost of Rs 130 crore, these supercomputers are deployed in Pune, Delhi, and Kolkata to facilitate research in various fields such as weather forecasting, climate modeling, drug discovery, materials science, and artificial intelligence. The PARAM Rudra supercomputers incorporate the latest hardware and software technologies, with a significant portion of components manufactured and assembled in India. The supercomputers will support research at the Giant Metre Radio Telescope in Pune, the Inter University Accelerator Centre in Delhi, and the S.N. Bose Centre in Kolkata. Additionally, PM Modi inaugurates a high-performance computing system for weather and climate research, a project worth Rs 850 crore.
