@ hi. Thank you! I recommend watching the videos, taking notes specifically on the science and math portion and making yourself a study guide on Quizlet. I purchased the Teas comprehensive guide and I felt it was confusing to use. The mometrix book was intense as well.

the teas exam asked about perhepheral vasodilation and options were radiation and evaporation and others. I selected others but the answer was radiation. Its a bit misleading to write evaporation here with vasodilation

I appreciate you bringing up this point, and I can see how the choice between radiation and evaporation in relation to peripheral vasodilation can be confusing.
Peripheral vasodilation itself refers to the widening of the blood vessels in the periphery (such as the limbs), which increases blood flow to those areas and helps to dissipate heat through the skin. This process is part of the body’s natural mechanisms to regulate temperature, often in response to heat.
Radiation is the process by which the body loses heat in the form of infrared rays without direct contact between the heat source and the heat sink. For example, heat radiating from your skin into the surrounding cooler air.
Evaporation, on the other hand, refers to the process where liquid turns into vapor, taking heat away from the skin. This occurs, for example, when sweat evaporates from the skin surface.
In the context of your TEAS exam question, radiation was likely considered the correct answer over evaporation because the question was focused on how heat is transferred through peripheral vasodilation rather than how sweat affects cooling. It sounds like the exam was testing understanding of how heat dissipates from dilated blood vessels without necessarily involving the evaporation of sweat.
These nuances can certainly make test questions challenging, but dissecting them like this can help deepen your understanding of both the concepts and how they might be tested. Keep up the thoughtful preparation and good luck with your continued studies!

Can skin cancer and burns come up on the TEAS 7? I understand the importance of knowing these concepts for healthcare, but are they necessary for the exam itself? Thanks for all that you do Nurse Cheung!!

Hey Bestie! It's great to hear that you're preparing for the TEAS 7! While the TEAS exam primarily focuses on basic science concepts, anatomy, physiology, reading comprehension, math, and English language usage, specific health conditions like skin cancer and burns might not be directly covered unless they relate to basic human body systems and health maintenance topics that are part of the anatomy and physiology sections.
However, it's always good to have a broad understanding of various health issues as they can enhance your overall readiness for nursing education. Good luck with your preparation, and I'm here to help if you have any more questions!
