Hat's off to you. I don't know how you do it. You STAY on the go. I get exhausted just watching all that you do in a day's time. But I love watching your videos. Your babies are so blessed to have you as a mom!
Stick with the IEP it works. My daughter who is now a young adult and will be graduating in May with an Architectural Degree had one. She had the similar issues your daughter is having . My daughter eventually tested out of her IEP in High School ❤❤❤. It works stay connected with the SPED Teacher!!!
My daughter had the same issues in elementary school. I spent 30 minutes a night reading with her for an entire year. This is how we did it. I would read a page then she would read a page. It was a lot but it paid off in the end. She graduated with a 4.1 gpa from high school and also graduated from college with honors.
I used to have an IEP in school. I have language processing disorder, mild autism, and ADHD combined type. Im also twice exceptional meaning gifted and talented and learning disabled. I'm gifted in math, science, pattern recognition, spatial ability, and art. My language abilities are normal to above average based off my current aptitude tests and gifted in mathematics. Despite my struggles i have a huge lifelong passion for learning.
My son has the same issue. He is now about to graduate with his bachelor. Yes get her evaluated from a difference place than school. They can do an extensive evaluation. My son did small groups and was in Itc class which is great. That IEP follows them to college.
Both my girls had issues we got a library membership and we just started reading 30 minutes a night and flash cards for sight words! They1 level ahead now!
I remember your videos during pandemic & I noticed one kiddo struggled a bit I recommend you keep up what you’re doing..an IEP is actually very helpful, since school is paced, some kids even move from an IEP by middle/high school. Also take advantage of OST programs!!
Also rule out dysgraphia. It affects written expression. When you mentioned she is struggling writing down problems from the board it reminded me of that possibility. People with it are very smart they just can’t get what is in their head down on the paper.
Yes The IEP can provide servicesfrom grade school to college level. Im 45 i had IEP in grade school to higher and got great help in college. I had challenges in focus on staying on tract and math was something i had to have it on papers to and multiple choices and couldnt work in big groups the smaller groups help me so much . Just see how she does with school service and if you feel like you need outside services trust me you have loads of resources for you all
I had an IEP when I was in elementary school all the way til 6th or 7th grade & I loved it so much. the one on one focus helped I test out & when I did I was so sad loll but I struggled with reading as well what helped me test out was reading books. On my downtime I would just read. I wonder if she struggles with reading because it bores her? Especially if it’s her least favorite subject .
Yes, I would highly suggest getting an outside diagnosis not related to the school system. As she progresses through her education, it could and will be a very vital part of how she learns. If you have an official diagnosis, it is easier for curriculum and accommodations regardless of whether or not, she continues in the public school system. I would also suggest reading with her you read the page. She reads a page every night. In addition to all of that, getting an audiobook subscription might not be a terrible idea after she finishes a book. She can then go back and listen to the book. I hope that helps.
My daughter has an IEP for same reason. She got in 3rd grade she is in 8thnow. Orton gillingham is the evidence-based curriculum we used and she is now grade level doing well
My adult son had IEP I school and yes I highly recommend you get her assessed outside of the school system in case you need extra help previous years in the future. Having a private counselor helped me tremendously when the school system tried not to do something.
My granddaughter had very much the same issues. She was diagnosed with dyslexia. They had to go outside the school system for an official diagnosis. Once they took that to the school they now work with her for extra time on tests, etc. We’re in Florida so it may be different in Vegas but we had to have an official diagnosis.
I was an IEP kid growing up mine was reading. So I know it from as a student and as a mama of an IEP kid. So one thing about the public schools is yes they provide the services to try to help but at the end of the day IEP kids mean money for the school district they get extra funds. Also, when they help they might dump it down to a kid that’s lower than your child so it takes longer for your child to learn something when they might already know it. Since I knew that from how they thought me. When one of my kids has reading problems they kept telling me it was most likely dyslexia. I truly felt the school wasn’t doing enough so I hired a reading tour outside for the school. And know my child is reading grade level and doesn’t need help anymore. Now I know that was mine kids experience. But I do strongly suggest trying to find an outside tutor just for the extra support and they will go on your child’s level and not the school‘s level. And also I feel like if you decide to go to the doctor, they will just be labeling her to say yes she has dyslexia or she doesn’t and they’re not gonna do anything else most likely. She will grow and learn to overcome her challenges. When it clicks it will click, that’s what happened with me I can say that I feel I really could start reading after my school years honestly, maybe sadly but that’s how I feel. But whatever you decide to do will be fine.
We did outside assessments for my son. At one point the school felt that he was doing better and that he did not require services. Without "proof" of his disability, they did not have to continue to offer him services.
I couldn’t read in kindergarten to my dad signed me up for summer classes at sylvan they did every subject by the end of the week I was reading it helped me in the long run when I started 1st grade I found out I was reading 3 grades ahead it was worth it
I would mention your concerns to your family doctor and teaching staff, she may just need a tutor. As a teacher sometimes children just need a little one on one help. And try hook on phonics it is very helpful if you haven't tried it yet
Years ago when my sister got my niece the same color fish, she said "Isabel, what do you want to name him"? Isa: "Ummmm, Goofy!" Sis: Ok! Goofy it is! 😂😂😂
reading comprehension these days, across the board, is changing. back in the day when we wanted to learn something we HAD to read. children today get their info from videos. encourage things that require understanding what they are reading, such as: cooking, science experiments, magic tricks, written riddles, joke books, amazing facts books, song lyrics, poems etc. Science is where reading comprehension really gives a payoff to the child.
My granddaughter has the same problem. We had her tested for Dyslexia and that’s what it is. Once this was confirmed, the school was able to help more in how to teach her.
Hi, my daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia. She saw her numbers and letters backwards and I got an IEP done in my school that I wasn’t comfortable with and I got a second opinion I paid for an IEP done outside my school district and I gotta tell you once I knew what I was working with how I could help her in the resources. the school system is not gonna help you. It’s need to know basic
Could be a visual processing disorder similar to dyslexia, but the copying from the board makes me think that there might be more of a processing disorder
Your baby girl should have extra time on test, questions read to her instead of her reading on the test. That IEP is gold. No charter school doesn’t do that great on IEP services . I became an advocate for my district as well as PTA in 4 different schools. So yeah my son will graduate with bachelor’s this year. Reach out and I can send you my number.
Okay friends...the kids would like some suggestions for what to name our new little blue addition. What do you think?
Azul
Ocean
Cookie is perfect, Cowboy Cookie can be it’s full name
Blueberry 🫐
I thought Cowboy was great, tbh

@@sohard2sea872 right?!
My now 14 year old has had an IEP since 5th grade. It has done wonders for him, idk where he would be without it honestly. I’m so grateful for it.
@@sheesha91 thank you so much for sharing that

A few betta tips...strongly recommend getting a heater in there for your betta, and upgrading to at least 5 gallon at some point.
me i had an iep and i have dyslexia, my mom would read with my every night. definitely stay with public school
the school also does the assessments most times or they set you up with someone
The Orton Gillingham method works well with striving readers. It is a multi-sensory teaching approach. Love your vlogs!
Thanks for the tip!
Getting services for her will make a world of difference. It worked well with my son.

My son get his iep at school twice a year
