    Patio paver (3 x $2.00) are great for the floor of the oven, the roof , and the cooking surface - A pizza Peel helps a lot.
    Caputo Metro Flour and Caputo Semolina (11 to 1) make a great dough .
    Preheat the dough before topping it will also help.

    I'm going to be a chef for a fully outdoor army cadets camp in the middle of the british countryside if Lockdown does get released this summer. Each year being at these camps as a teenager, we would AlWAYS use oak stoves/fires using steel plates that are run 24/7 (to minimise starting it every morning), by burning the logs under a 2metre long, 1 meter wide plate. Its like a furnace. Dug into the ground, with an entrance hole for wood, clay bricks on either side with cement to keep the heat in and remain efficient. For boiling water its not the most efficient way but when cooking for 25 kids and staff it's good for time management and uses renewable resources. It also means when cooking pasta and meat for over 20 people you can manage the food easily, keeping it relatively low to the ground. Unlike gas stoves. I doubt kids can easily pickup a 30KG cauldron carrying pasta and hot water.
    The cooking plate has a 15 cm wide chimney pipe sticking out the ground on the other side to get rid of the hot carbon dioxide smoke (among other things from burning the wood) from the furnace. Getting the teenager cadets to find wood takes ages because they often mess around, talking and trying to find mobile signal. I keep a tally chart with weights to check how much each cadet carries back so those who mess around lose game time with the other teams.
    I wanted to spice things up this year. Do you think it would be possible to make this pizza oven design as you described in your video, but possibly to make not only pizzas but other meals like garlic bread for bolognaise on a larger scale?
    Also do you know where one could order the corner pieces? It would help the kids to make their bed frames (all made from scratch like in the 60's). Even if it is ordered in Canada, the camp is 2 months away so shipping should allow.
    I know this is an old video but if you wanted to I could try get a photo of the furnace if you wanted to make one for a video. It would certainly help teach the younger generations how to build them.
    Thanks for reading my reply. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

      I wouldn't want to sit down and eat that pizza, and if you've watched a few videos you'll know the key thing is to build an oven capable of reaching temperatures exceeding 500 degrees. Only then will you get the characteristic crispy dough, the whole pizza should cook in a minute.

    nice video nice family and cool project! so im just wondering here... would it cook more evenly if placed a door on it? also what temp is it getting to? thanks! also have any photos or followup video of yummy pizza that doesnt looks burnt and looks like a real pizza yet come out of that oven?

      @OntarioLakeside  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @blurybury
      @blurybury 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah i guess it might be hard to tell other than timing it when to spin your pizza to cool the other side. i was thinking maybe there's a better-made oven but honestly, i finding even the most elaborately built ovens that i have seen on youtube since your video has the same concept. what i don't understand is i have had brick oven fired pizza in town and i not seen ash or unevenly cooked crusts etc. maybe theirs is gas and not wood fired. i would have to inquire. i was thinking to make one of these. looks simple enough. but i dont want to be disappointed in the final product. i have been hearing about the risk of asbestos in used bricks and now wondering what the health risks of cooking with such may be. seriously a cool build though.
