Amazing work and respect ! especially at the end when you say that color grading can be minimal work, if everything is done on set !!! I would love to see on set on my combo almost the final resullt, it helps me to feel how everything is working well !
Amazing, as usual. I'm actually starting my path as a independent/freela director, photographer and editor after been years working in the cinema industry as assistant in different areas, making my creations as a B-Side. Hope to someday, 3 years from now, tell you that I made it and you were a great mentor over the course of the career.
Your DP is totally right but that is not always the way to go. anything that can be done in post or will take less time and effort in post than on set, is the post-production team's duty to nail it. anything that can not be done in post or will take more time and effort in post than on set, is the production team's duty to nail it.
Hello Nur. Very cool and valuable to see the whole process. Thank you! Wondering if you use this spec ad to find more clients in that industry? Did it help you get something specific you were looking for? Thanks!
It’s definitely brought some similar shorter projects already. I think it’s a long game and it’s got a cumulative effect. And my portfolio isn’t quite where I want it to be yet so a couple more personal projects like this would be perfect imo :)
These things only eat money if you consider it short term. Long term thought they’re investments into your personal brand as a director. They show potential clients/productions/agencies what your true voice and style is like outside of commercials.
I'm really curious how much everything cost and how you afford this type of spec ad. With all the actors, locations, gear and especially set design i can't imagine everyone did it for free.
I reached out to our dp and he corrected me - It was not the 13” version as I initially thought 😅 The one you see at 09:14 is the Smallhd Cine 18, and the one at 14:35 is Smallhd OLED 27.
Curious, how much did the project end up costing - as a commercial production, you could imagine a crew of 50+ and a budget of quarter of a million dollars with all the locations/ talent/ set styling and props! I'm imagining with favors, DIY and a solid team on board $40k?
Благодарю 🙏 Если хочешь выходить хелпером или на любые другие многозадачные позиции на площадке - лучше обращаться в продакшен. Они часто на площадках и в админках часто нужны руки :)
P.S. Shot this short film for slightly over $6k. Kudos to our team! 🙏 What's your favorite part of filmmaking?
6K USD?

Loved the breakdown. What a great mood on the set as well. Everyone seems hard-working and dedicated. That's the crew you want!
1000%
Yeah, hire pros. Pretty simple.

This was so inspiring, thank you so much!
Can I ask how you make money from creating these? is it from the clothing brand?

Roughly around 6-7k $USD. And yes, everyone in the above-the-line crew worked to support the art.
u r a legend

What reference monitor did you guys use on set? Was that the SmallHD 1303?

I got to the part where you say "inclusive" and unsuscribed. Please stop that.
