12 years, but didn't learn about breeding programs and hardiness of different breeds? The breeds that are prone to sore hocks are those bred for pets, not meat. Those bred for meat tend yo have a heavier fur on their paws, making wire cages a non-issue. When raising them in larger numbers, wire is better to control disease, and it is far more sanitary. @tylerrozie they were only removed from USDA classification in 1995. All that means is USDA inspection is not necessary for slaughter. Every state still classifies them as livestock. Done it, seen it, worked with it. The space they need is not that much, as they are from European rabbits, not North American rabbits. They will live in smaller spaces in the wild. Stop last night I was watching this with my dwarf bunny Cody and he is just a cute life of bread and he really thought I would do that to him (NOOOO) So I covered my Cody’s eye and I will like never eat my bunny😭😭
A rabbit would not understand what is on the screen. They do not see like we do, they rely heavily on their sense of smell to make up for their vision.
You should know that rabbits are livestock, and the reason they were domesticated was food and fur. You have a rabbit as a pet because people raise them for food and fur.
That is partially true, coming from settler who had nothing but lean winter rabbit to eat for prolonger periods of time. It happened with caribou as well. Domestic rabbits have significantly more fat on them than any wild rabbit in North America. The people who typically raise them for meat also have other foods growing on their property, which adds diversity. .

How isnot crazy? Rabbits are a food source, it's literally why they were domesticated 2,000+ years ago, and have been bred and kept since. Keeping them as house pets is a modern thing, and no different than keeping a chicken as a pet.
@TheAsches that's just your opinion. Bunnies are pet animals just like cats and dogs, im sorry for your lack of sympathy.
@Bella-um8bm I agree, it's just horrible. People are cruel.
I understand but I am entitled to my opinion as you are to yours, I understand they are a food source for some but me personally would not let myself eat a cute bunny
@Bella-um8bm that is one thing, but calling someone crazy for it comes off pretty messed up
why would you eat your pets? they must have lived such a sad life in that tiny cage. I feel so bad for them. I could never do something like that
They aren’t pets buddy, that’s food
that's a meat farm not a pet
People keep cows as pets you gonna tell beef farmers that too?
this comment is just ignorant
@@ohperrytheplatypus very
Please demonstrate how you butcher, I think I might start a rabbit farm in our yard, and it’d benefit if you show how that clean cut you did was made.
I’m interested in preserving the meat, the quality of it before and after.
I really love being independent from the government ^^ saves a lot of money, keeps you living.
Oh yes, and, what dishes you make with them!
A good one to check if you want to go into every detail of processing, breeding, and raising is the Rabbitry Center. He goes over everything from breeding to preserving pelts.
@@TheAsches Thank you, I’ll look into it!
question: what breed are they
How dare you suggest that to me! MY RABBIT WAS WATCHING IM GETTING KICKED OUT THE HOUSE!!!!
Damn I was searching for foods I can give my rabbits not ways I can put them into food😭😭😭
TH-cam is NOT the place to look that up. Tons of rabbit farmers and homesteading videos on here about rabbits. If you do not want to see them like this, avoid TH-cam and Facebook.
@TheAsches it's okay,I just thought it was funny that TH-cam misunderstood what I was trying to look up.(I use 😭 as when I think something is funny and sad at the same time, or in situations i know I'm not supposed to be laughing)
No just eat chicken there meant to be eaten . As a rabbit owner I don’t like when people eat rabbits it’s wrong chickens are meant t be eaten
Rabbits were domesticated as a food source, same as chickens. It's literally why they are domestic today. You keeping one as a pet is the same as someone keeping a chicken as a pet
No the little rabbits are so cute why did you do that 😭😭😭😭😭
They ate food, always have been food, and always will be food.
But I think it's sad to see rabbits in this state because I get sad seeing it easily
@@whithergame then don't click on videos with titles like "why we raise rabbit as a meat source." It's a self-inflicted problem.
@@TheAschesok 👍
@@TheAsches AND I HOPE ONE DAY YOULL BE FOOD
😢😢feeling bad for little bunny 🐇
NO DONT EAT BUNNYS EAT STEAK
Why not both? Both were domesticated for food.
thats fucked up
This is the reality of food. It's why rabbits were domesticated.
Its not worse than what we do to the meat you get in a package.
@xapriliztheshizzlex You are right, sorry to make it sound judgy. What was fucked up to me was the cut to its head. Also I know im flawed and its bad logic, but if I find an animal too cute, I just don't eat it. And since I had a rabbit in the past, as a pet, im biased.
I screamed when she showed just tye head
Rabbits are pets, not food.
How do you know it was already dead if it was its ok
They were domesticated for food and fur, not as pets. They didn't become a house-pet until the last 50-ish years.
this is horrific 😥
This is real life on earth.
That’s cool but still kinda sad.
Animals are not our food. Please stop this cruelty.
They definitely are our food.
And our asphalt, concrete, plywood, TVs, computers, wires, tires, dishes, and so much more.
So why do you have canines and incisors?
Raising rabbits sounds like it would make a great food source! Makes me wonder why more people dont
Most people get fed up taking care of a tomato plant on their patio 😂
We have a bunny (this is painful to watch)😢
A bit insensitive but factory farms are worse and Im sure all these commenters aren’t vegan/vegetarian or living sustainably.
Bunniboo: 😨……….
I was just looking for cute bunny videos 😢
Stop last night I was watching this with my dwarf bunny Cody and he is just a cute life of bread and he really thought I would do that to him
(NOOOO)
So I covered my Cody’s eye and I will like never eat my bunny😭😭
A rabbit would not understand what is on the screen. They do not see like we do, they rely heavily on their sense of smell to make up for their vision.
I searched- for bunny video's- NOT- Coooking- BUTCHERING- ones- youtube- as a Bunny owner, I am now traumatized
You have to clarify what bunny videos you were looking for because bunny rabbits are also majorly used as a nutritious food source
You should know that rabbits are livestock, and the reason they were domesticated was food and fur. You have a rabbit as a pet because people raise them for food and fur.
I'm done
I had a heart attack 😮😮😮😮😢😢😢😢
Rabbits are cute tiny pets. How could you?😡
They are meat
@@Sakazuki_Akainu. You also

Wtf? Hide ya kids.
Should kids not know where meat comes from?
@TheAsches That went over your head. Sensitive af. Damn.
@CadeArcade I'm not the one upset about a video on TH-cam.
Where was I upset? I quoted a meme. Take your meds.
I have a bunny so this makes me sad rip bunny 😢🐰
I thought the chopped head was a toy, girl literally show us a chopped head wth 😂
You cannot live on rabbit meat alone so I have been told. not enough fat.
That is partially true, coming from settler who had nothing but lean winter rabbit to eat for prolonger periods of time. It happened with caribou as well.
Domestic rabbits have significantly more fat on them than any wild rabbit in North America. The people who typically raise them for meat also have other foods growing on their property, which adds diversity. .
Whoever said you had to?
I respect you for making this video, but youtube did you so dirty. This was my first result for "rabbits eating fruit" and I was not prepared for that emotional whiplash, I thought it was a joke with a felted head at first. 😂
