These were crucial positive changes that only helped the production. But no bigger was his cutting the budget that had escalated out of control forcing the Bob's to create the most iconic greatest time travel rewrite concept plot point of all time: 86 the nuclear test site, make the center of Hill Valley's clock tower hit by lightning the main power source sending Marty Back home and converting the time machine from a refrigerator to Deloreon.

I wonder how Eric felt about coloring his hair for the role. Mine is the same color as his, and personally, my skin tone is too light to color it darker. I would look awful with darker hair.

In an alternate timeline, a movie did come out starring Eric Stoltz! But it flopped at the box office. So they used the time machine they created for the movie, and went back to 1985, and changed actors. It then became a hit. What people don't know, is that they tried 50 different actors and kept having to go back in time. These include Johnny Depp, Jim Carey, Mark Hammel , Jackie Chan and Kermit the Frog. Crispin Glover played the father in every sequel until they got Michael J Fox. He backed out on the final shoot of episode 2, thus creating an alternate Crispin Glover. The same thing happened with Marty's girlfriend.
