Don't listen to them, they gave terrible advice for a hurricane, if you're in a basement it'll get flooded and you will drown. Also hurricanes last for days, you're not going to be under a piece of furniture the whole time. They also say that if a hurricane starts while you're driving to go in a ditch, there are 2 things wrong with that: hurricanes cant "start" on land, they form in the ocean, and the second problem is the same as the furniture one, you're not gonna stay in a ditch for 3 days. In fact if a hurricane is in progress (and the roads aren't flooded) you should STAY in your vehicle and evacuate if the storm is bad enough. They also say to not go under an overpass, that info is irrelevant in a hurricane, but it is common knowledge for surviving a tornado (and not a hurricane). They also say to go to a secure basement, closet, or bathroom without windows, this is ALSO TORNADO ADVICE (once again NOT a hurricane). In fact, literally ALL the hurricane advice is actually tornado advice and in some cases could actually INCREASE the chance of you dying if you followed them in a hurricane! Look up videos from professionals, don't listen to "BRIGHT SIDE", they have no clue what they are talking about.
The Hurricane advice sounded more like advice for a tornado. Hurricanes don't just start up, you have plenty of warning time (usually days worth) to take precautions. I also was taken back when the video advised going to a basement. How many basements exist in Florida? Get in a ditch? The ditches are to move the water away from the area and are most likely flooded. The whole video is filled with misleading and wrong information.
The Creeper Craft I’m in hurricane Florence and it’s hitting my area on Thursday and I have been in a hurricane before I sat in my laundry room for a few hours and I could come out and I went outside during it so it wasn5 that bad but definately not listening to the “BRIGHT SIDE” about it
A tip I heard for if you’re buried under snow in an avalanche, is to spit so you know which way is up. That way you’re not wasting time and energy digging in the wrong direction.
Lindsei Henderson That's not very reliable because if you spit you kinda force air out of your mouth so you already give it a direction, so you could fool yourself... you would also waste air while digging and won't make it if you are 14 feet under ...but you would not know it while running out of air..... there are inflatable jackets you can inflate while getting into the snow so you expand your body surface and are more likely to kind of "swim" up to the top of the avalanche and be buried just a foot deep or at least not too far down so you are easily found or even able to get out yourself.
No. The earthquake thing is wrong. If you get under a desk or table, something can fall on top of it, and crush you. Your best bet is to get right in between a door frame. Door frames are very strong, and won't collapse unless a lot of preasure is put on top of them. The tornado thing is partly right. You do need to stay as low as possible. But you also need to find a room with no windows, and hunker down. When I was in my school, and the tornado drill went off, our teacher would take us in one of the school bathrooms, and make us all huddle together in a corner, covering our heads with the backs of our hands. I think that's a good way to try and survive a tornado inside a school or work. Another tip for surviving earthquakes, is if you have time, you can get several bed matteresses, (Sorry if I didn't spell that wrong) go into the center of a hallway, put them over you, and hunker down until it passes. This way, if something does happen to fall on top of you, the matteress stops it and breaks the fall so it doesn't damage you so badly. Thank you for reading! Hope these small tips help! Goodbye!!
I can relate to natural disasters like this. One time when I was in 6th grade in 2008, it was a stormy day and the lights kept flickering on and off when I was in history class, our teacher said that if a tornado warning was to be issued, they would have us take shelter under our desk. And sure enough in my next class, the announcement said that we were under a tornado warning and asked us to take shelter, it was scary. However, a few minutes later, turns out nothing happened.
Your teacher knew zilch about tornado safety. If you're in a school during a tornado, a classroom is one of *THE WORST* places to take shelter in (they almost always have windows and just one wall between you and the outside). Ideally, seek out a restroom or a janitor's closet on the first floor, as close to the center of the building as you can find.
This is because @brigthwave is hiding the truth about this matter, wooden buildings are not saver in doorways, but brick buildings are, when you look around the world, about half of th builds are wood, the other half are bricks. Mythbusters did a test of this and found that our
I was in a restaurant with my family once last year and there was a big earthquake. I saw the lights shaking and we had to get under the table. After it was over my sister told me I was sitting under a big vent like thing and it was shaking a lot
*I remember that, one day I woke up to the sounds of loud noises and screaming. I headed to my window to see what was going on. Then when I look outside the window everything is dark and windy. I saw some people running to houses. So then I looked around and saw a tornado. I was in shock. I ran to my mom and woke her up. Then I woke my sister. Then my dad. We all discussed what we should do. We had a plan. We all hid in different places. Me and my sisters decided to hide in the closet. While my mum hid under a large desk. My dad hid with my mum instead under the desk. We waited and waited and then the sky turned normal.*

Same here. I live on the West Coast of Canada (Burnaby, British Columbia). We had a tsunami warning on January 23rd of this year. Unfortunately, there were mixed results. Some people heard the warning and fled to higher ground while others did not recognise the number and turned off their phones. Others said that they were alerted by firefighters and said that British Columbia needs tsunami warning sirens.
Actually, it would be very unlikely for sharks to swim around during a tsunami. First off, wouldn't sharks be blown away or kicked around if they were in an actual tidal wave? Secondly, sharks would be terrified of a tsunami and more likely swim away than go search for lunch!
Yeah bc in the woods and I'm taking a hike. If I see a wildfire I'm TOTALLY just gonna have a WET cloth in my back pocket. Because that's something I carry around all the time. Michigan had an "earthquake" (the ground shook for one second). Then memes started popping up of "We will rebuild," a picture of a lawn chair knocked over.
I was told that hiding in a still vehicle during a wildfire is NOT a good idea, especially if the vehicle is NEAR the fire, as the gas tank can be ignited.
Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood Idea
When you are in an avalanche. Dig a small hole and spit out. If it lands on you again then you have to dig that way. You won't always have a rescue team. IF it does not land on you that means you are facing downwards and turn around a try the other side until it lands on you. Disgusting but life-saving.

Do they just GUESS what they say? So listen: My best friend went on vacation to his grandma's 4 years ago. A big earthquake occurred, and his and his family's life was in great danger since he was near the starting point of the earthquake. According to him, the whole house started shaking badly, books falling with the shelves right after. His grandparents stayed low under tables, while his parents did the same. Do you know what his idea was? While the video said to go under a table and hold on, he said: And he was right. Pieces of the ceiling, fell on the tables, breaking the plank on the top, cutting it in two, while they got only scratches. I believe you know what would have happened if they did not listen to him. As for the fire, staying in a vehicle is quite dangerous as it may overheat and explode. If you aren't completely surrounded by fire, go for it and get out. Stay away from trees and try to find a clearing if you are deep in the forest. this is such a well-made video, really informative! i gotta say though, while it's great to have tips, i think some people might overprepare and end up living in constant fear of disaster. sometimes, a bit of uncertainty can push us to appreciate life more, don’t you think?
Jackson Pace Yes, we lost everything except the things that we had. We left out baby turtle there for the whole 3 weeks without any food. But he has survived. It’s been quite a while since Harvey but Lucky (turtle) is still here today. I can tell you more if you would like.

Another tip for avalanches if you get buried dig a small hole with your finger and spit in it. Where the spit goes to points down. So you know which way is up and after that make a air hole where you know is up.

No you have to go IN the lake. Fire if big enough can still pass over water. So you should be inside the water.
@@jenniferb4949 yup, the air gets super hot, embers fly around, he'd be off that unicorn pretty quick.
200 People from a camp ground out west just rode out a fire in the middle of lake.

this is such a well-made video, really informative! i gotta say though, while it's great to have tips, i think some people might overprepare and end up living in constant fear of disaster. sometimes, a bit of uncertainty can push us to appreciate life more, don’t you think?
There was a flood in Houston Texas... it flooded my apartment. But my family and I went to my mom’s friends house. And I won’t say anything else.

Yazmin Winn was the rest bad?
Jackson Pace Yes, we lost everything except the things that we had. We left out baby turtle there for the whole 3 weeks without any food. But he has survived. It’s been quite a while since Harvey but Lucky (turtle) is still here today. I can tell you more if you would like.

thx bro to tell such a ggggoooodd thingg!!!!!
we really need it!!!!!!!
Another tip for avalanches if you get buried dig a small hole with your finger and spit in it. Where the spit goes to points down. So you know which way is up and after that make a air hole where you know is up.
I wouldn't suggest hiding in a basement during a hurricane.
It may flood.
(Edit: My disuse of punctuation was killing me....)
Bentigiri all you have to do is fill up a bathtub and then you will have water to drink shower and flush toilets. Then you just sit it out. I live in Florida and have too much experience...
