This guy is just a classic narcissist. He is physically unable to stop incriminating himself, he thinks he's smarter than everyone else in the room all the time. Perhaps his legal team just wants him to do this as a hail Mary, if he can somehow charm the jury it's his only way out of such a mountain of evidence.
